Assault Android Cactus. Just another twin stick shooter, but the more I played the more I enjoyed it. I ended up getting S ranking on all stages because I just ended up loving it so much. A runner up is Fallout 76. Hated it at first, but ended up really enjoying it. I only played for about 3 weeks, but I was not enjoying it at all at first.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I hated it at first because I was an idiot and didn't know anything about Deus Ex gameplay. When I bought it, I assumed that it was just another run and gun first person shooter with a linear structure. Boy was I wrong........ I was confused as to why the gunplay was so frustrating and difficult, and also I was getting slaughtered on the normal difficulty setting. I hated it and put it down before I even got through the tutorial mission lol..... Then I learned that it was actually a role playing stealth game, and tried it again, and then my mind was blown lol.... Amazing game and still one of my favorites today.

Honestly deacon is one of the most interesting protagonists I've ever played as. The way he sees things and thinks of things is really interesting. Like most people would would try to avoid the freakers, that the world isn't safe because of them. But he thinks of them as pests, he finds the humans worse, and treats the freakers as nothing more than an opportunity to do things that could work in his advantage. Many games make your character dull, like non emotional, but deacon is emotional, and makes you feel for him. And let's not forget his brother relationship, them two are bound.

What I found more impressive is his huge hero complex and how his loneliness is PALPABLE Every single time he whispers to himself, or just talks out loud out of nowhere, I'm reminded this man has been out there for years, doing nothing but ride and hearing nothing but blood curdling screams But to go even further, we can hear Deacon yelling out in anger, calling others thiefs, murderers and rapists, I felt him I felt him calling others villains to feel less neutral, less ambiguous, more of a hero When life loses meaning, you either turn your life into a story, or you become lost in the routine, and Deacon turned himself into his own protagonist

He has such a love of the world and the (worthy, in his eyes at least) people of it, it's deeply buried in his dry sarcasm that at first comes off as cynical. But being on the road with him he has so much more to say about life than just "urgh I hate freaks and marauders and miss my wife" he talks about deer crossings, looks at monuments and postcards and genuinely finds them interesting, he hated cell phones for how everyone seemed to live through those rather than enjoy the world around them and he has a ferocious protective streak for more than just he and his own. It just takes time to see

I like Deacon’s brutality. The way he handled the Rippers was intriguing. Iron Mike tried to take the pacifists approach and I thought Deacon would do it but instead he’s like “nah. Fuck that. They’ll keep coming for us.” And I liked that brutal realism he has.

To be fair, games are in a tricky spot as far as traditional review writing goes. The intent of reviews is that people, you know, be able to read them to either get entertainment, and possibly more importantly, make purchasing decisions. So you want them to be timely. This isn't a problem in any other medium, with the possible exception of books, but books also have much longer "hot" times because books don't come out as often and aren't as big of a medium, games on the other hand are very current, and you have at least a handful of big releases monthly. So you run into the question of how much is enough? Do you beat the game? Explore the whole map? Complete it? Does it change depending on the game? So game reviewers are in an awkward position. It is a bit sticky. I give them Lee-way for that, but at the same time, it would definitely be good to have more content covered than less. Personally I think, "Finished the main game" is appropriate for games that have one to speak of and 20 hours is good otherwise, but sometimes those can both be too slow. It's getting better with pre-release copies becoming a more and more common practice though, so that helps at least.
@aZombieDictator
@aZombieDictator 5 жыл бұрын
The majority of critics didn't even get past the point Jirard was talking about. You wouldn't review a movie or book without seeing the conclusion, why review a game you only beat 20% of?

Chaze7000 I couldn’t agree more! I had a soldier play this on deployment and I would sit for hours watching him play this game like some sitcom on tv. I couldn’t get enough of it. The plot with Decon and Sarah really made me miss my wife. It kind of reconnected us because of the distance. This game had so many nostalgic feelings of dating my wife, it was awesome. This game made me not want to quit and keep trying to better my marriage. Just the way Decon wanted to better his life and give up the biker scene. It was an awesome experience and the ending was probably the best I’ve ever seen on any game, personally of course.

But if you take your time and get invested in the world and the science of how these freakers and this virus work and how people have changed since the outbreak and exactly what kind of people would survive in a world like this instead of just trying to get invested in Deek it can be absolutely enthralling.

I’m ok with the beginning. Introductions are meant to be slow tempo and ease you into the game. It also gives you questions and stories that won’t be answered for a while, and make you question what will happen, so you can always look forward to find the answers. In short: the games leave multiple pieces of a puzzle for you to figure out so you have a goal for closure, which I love.

Funny how for me, my PS4 Slim was fully capable of running the game smoothly when rendering a full horde on my screen, but sometimes fps went crazy when I was just riding my bike. And yes, I felt the same way, at first thought the game was bland but it still managed to grip me, and I kept going and I don't regret that.

Most reviewers and also people did not get the issue with Deacon, in the first 6 hours of the game or about that time frame i would say he had lost hope and wanted payback on all the freakers he can find and human scum who attacked others. And once we get over the hump so to speak and he starts to get more hope and become human again and not this rage machine we see a entirely different game. I am just waiting for news about Days Gone part 2 now.

Just platinumed it recently and even did a second NG+ playthrough on survivor difficulty immediately after! Really enjoyed it, despite it's many flaws in story pacing and overall polish, it still stands out as a really noteworthy and praiseful experience! I can see anyone, including myself, giving the game a 6/10 realistically, but when you consider game critics and journalists who give every generic AC and CoD game a 8 and 9 out of 10, that's when we get pissed! For me, it's a solid 8. Solid story with some faults in pacing, really great characters, hit or miss dialogue, fun gameplay that does get a little repetitive along with the open world objectives, a sometimes messy but still enjoyable hybrid of various game mechanics, good graphics even though it has many technical problems to this day, plenty of free updates and DLC, etc.

There's a quote that goes something like "99% of bikers are law abiding citizens" from back when bikers started to get a bad reputation. Outlaw bike clubs started wearing patches on their vests with "%1" on it to signify they're part of the minority that deserves that reputation. I'm not sure about the bottom rocker.

I finished the storyline yesterday and oh boy It's now among y top 5 games played till now and has one of the best game stories, it's emotional, it has nuanced characters, and it has everything a good story needs. The only issue I have with the game is it has a bit of a repetitive side mission which feels kind of boring at the end of the game. But gonna play the game with NG+. But all things said it needs a sequel for sure. Hope Sony makes it.

I just finished it, played my first play-through on survival and would recommend it to anyone. Survival in particular isn't much harder than hard, and the lack of a HUD is actually more of a selling point than a deterrent as the game looks beautiful and sucks you in. A couple of tips for survival that I haven't seen anyone mention... Make sure you have your controllers vibration turned on if you don't already, and consider turning the icon sizes up in the settings menu; the lack of an easy access map means the detective sections can be pretty difficult to get through and these changes will make it much easier to track clues.

There are FARRRR worse games that get higher scores. Call of Duty, AHEM. It's like people just WANT to dislike this game or have it fail. Every week I'd see a video leading up to its launch from these big review sites saying how they have no hype for it. That's fair, but that should not impact the score which it clearly did.
