Living in Washington State for 45 years we took our boy scout troops on parts of the Pac NW Trail many times, If you do it, start in northern Cal and go up thru Ore and finish in Wash. that kind of distance will give you a better appreciation. Otherwise, you can find far better wilderness experiences doing different things. It's all getting pretty "touristy" (ie: climb Mt. Rainier?). Northern Idaho is even prettier. I've retired and live in San Antonio, too much of anything isn't such a good thing, ask my back and knees. those beautiful summers come with viscious winters!

I can only imagine that now and then during long hours of editing and tedious tasks that you begin to think that one day you'll tire of this whole thing. Wild is an excellent read...I read it a few years ago. I'm also a sailor and totaly love the life you're living. I'm a kayaker, cyclist and sailor....all things that are quiet and peaceful do it for me ...thanks for your hard work filming these videos... Those birds were awesome. I have a couple acre field I keep mowed and there's a bunch of birds (swallows I think) that fly around the mower. They're usually about a foot off the ground zooming around catching the bugs that fly up out of the grass as I mow. I love watching them.

Hey Elayna, my mum had 6 kids and is concerned with your fatigue. She's all for not eating red meat but said you should supplement with foods rich in iron, and you need vitamin c to be able to absorb the iron. Maybe you already know all of this but we just want to help however we can. Sending you both and the baby positive vibes! 💙💙💙

Daniela Louback - Not that I disagree with your mom concern for proper iron intake (which has little to do with whether your a "red meat" eater or not), but frequent "sleepiness" with a first pregnancy (especially in the first trimester as hormones are adjusting) is completely normal and common. Many times women experience more sleepiness than morning sickness on a first pregnancy than subsequent children. Maybe your mom doesn't quite remember that first one as well after six ... not to mention, I would imagine she was probably pretty busy! 😉

You guys should totally come to California and hike the pct. it can be a short day trip hike or a week long hike. Plenty of intersecting roads to get back on the road and back to she boat. You can also check out Lake Tahoe. One of the deepest lakes in the world and super clear. Only 4 hours away from san frensisco.

I feel since you crossed the Atlantic, the videos have a distinct upbeat feeling. It's not knocking the previous leg where you were touring Europe because I understand you probably needed to be there as you set up the new Cat. There's no negativity meant. Elayna, the Pacific Crest Trail truly is AMAZING! I've only been on parts of it, but it is gorgeous - from the desert mountains in Southern California, to the wonders of the Sierra, and up into Oregon and Washington states. I highly recommend getting on any part of it!
