On April 28, 2022, an undercover officer with the Daytona Beach Police Department was operating an unmarked vehicle in areas of Daytona Beach, Florida, that are known for street-level prostitution. This patrol occurred after the agency had "received numerous complaints in reference to prostitution" in the area.
The officer was electronically monitored, and at approximately 12:55 p.m., he contacted a white female at the intersection of North Segrave Street and North Street, "an area where street prostitution is prevalent." The female entered the undercover officer's vehicle, asked if the officer was "police," stated that she was looking to make some money, and agreed to oral and regular sex for a total price of $60... after which, this happened.
The arrestee has a history of multiple convictions for driving without a license as well as for drug possession, and had previously been referred to drug court, where she absconded from a residential treatment program, an act she subsequently told the court was an attempt to maintain her sobriety. (Seriously.) However, on June 28, 2022, she successfully completed the Volusia County State Attorney's "SMART" deferred prosecution program. SMART is a rather-contrived acronym for "State Attorney's Mission to Assist thriving Rehabilitation and Treatment" - a program intended to address to the underlying causes of misdemeanor crimes. Because the arrestee references her daughter in this video, it should be noted that the arrestee was married in 2019, that her daughter was born in 2020, and that her husband filed for divorce in 2021 while the arrestee was incarcerated. On July 26, 2022, the couple's marriage was dissolved; the father has full custody of the daughter.

Prostitution is not legal in Florida, so the government have no guidelines on how to collect it. Ladies with extreme need are forced to rent out their bodies on the streets, because there are no adult entertainment industry that would let them do their business indoors. Creating a situation where they would be harass by bad elements of the society, and legal officers. Someone in the government should do something to help these women. The first step is decriminalizing and legalizing prostitution - now!

So storytime. I’m a recovering addict of 5 years. My first and only arrest was at the courthouse on my way to cps court. Which looking back was a blessing. But while I was being arrested for a warrant they found paraphernalia on me. A straw and foil. I had watched enough of these videos in my life I swore to myself I’d never cry if I got arrested. Cause it got on my nerves that so many women would just break down most not being genuine at all as if it would make a difference and release them cause they’re crying. So I didn’t, even though I really wanted knowing how far down my life was going, so quickly. When I tell you that it was the most disgusting experience to get to the jail sitting in back while a cop walked up to the car to talk to my arresting officer. He was bragging about his ex girlfriend getting her car towed and calling her ‘the bitch.’ As if it couldn’t get any worse the cop bragging about his ex then asked arresting officer what my arrest was for. He told him. This mans response to me was ‘you don’t shoot up, why don’t you shoot up.’ First of all I did, but when I tell you I stared out in front of me at that windshield expressionless and would not give that man the satisfaction of an answer. So disappointed in that moment that this man held a badge and glorified and mocked my habit. Realizing every addict he came across he would treat less then human. As much as I was in complete shame of myself, I was just as much ashamed and embarrassed for this guy and his ignorance and blatant disregard of human decency. Law Enforcement needs to do better, medical professionals need to do better. Addicts are tormented people. Why torment them further is beyond me. We have families that suffer loving us…they would miss us just like yours would miss you. We do recover. We do recover.

When I was child I looked at these folks dealing with issues as not so good people. After over 8 years in law enforcement I’ve seen what the world can do to people, I can’t help but feel bad. I’m all for putting criminals behind bars, but this woman isn’t forcing anyone to do anything they don’t want. People go into survival mode when they are trying to feed their family and keep a roof over their head. This woman doesn’t deserve jail or this public humiliation. Get this woman some resources for help. These are tons of non profits looking to help women and single moms in hard times. Do some actual police work and target the pimps, that force underage girls on the streets.

I was thinking the same thing. Ill even say victimless crimes in general should be legal. But what about sex traffickers? Well if we had controlled sex, it would be safer for all parties. Two people agreeing to something should not be a crime.

Thats right she isn't forcing anyone to do anything. The law treats grown adults making their own decisions and choices like children who must be punished and disciplined for their own good because they acted out of line. But then then they punish the most vulnerable people the most, they punish people who are already being punished just because they're trying to survive the only way they can.

@@maysullivan7943 while I agree regulated prostitution is a discussion to be had, a lot of prostitution is actually sex trafficking, a huge issue due to the forced nature of the work, so I wouldn’t say its victimless. Also, if you research those pedophile hunters, a lot of them get information in less than legal ways, which puts the police in a tough spot due to the process of obtaining evidence.

One difference is that these sex workers often solicit and perform their jobs in public. They have begun to encroach into family-oriented neighborhoods and choose to park to get down to business in alleys or lots of abandoned homes. It is no secret a large percentage of prostitutes turn to the lifestyle to support drug habits. Therefore, drugs come to the area with them. I don't want to see it up close and personal in my backyard or on local street corners. It is different. Besides that, there are many underlying issues with street prostitution, especially when women or men turn to selling sex to support a drug habit. That isn't truly "free will." It might be consensual, but when fueled by addiction, isn't that person more vulnerable to the need for money than the desire for consensual sex?

These officers here treated this women with absolutely no dignity or respect. They were basically treating her like a piece of evidence with no feelings or emotions. They had completely dehumanised her for no reason other she was a prostitute. All of these cops seemed completely jaded and had zero sympathy for a women with a child who was obviously desperate for money and doing what she could to support herself.. Why are violent criminals and people driving drunk, potentially killing people, treated so much better. This was disgusting.

From there, she kept saving, until she had another 10 thousand saved. She sold the mobile home for 25, and with that extra 10 she saved, she bought an entire duplex. I love when cops in certain low crime areas that get no action, get all decked up for action like Escobar is in town. Like look at those two cops all treating it like they took down a serial killer. It's a prostitute charge lady, not a capital crime. Get released, don't pay fine, repeat! Funniest part: Talking to someone named Miranda, "Do you know your rights?" She knows them in her sleep.

I feel worse for the child depending on her, who's dependant on heroin and makes THAT a priority, more than empathy for Miranda. The possibility of getting caught knowingly committing a crime that immediately takes you to jail is a choice she is free to make. But if that little girl is waiting for her at a certain time and she chooses to do something that could possibly interfere with anything relating to the custody of or her responsibility to that child....she isn't putting her baby or parental responsibility first. SHE did this not only to herself but she did this to her daughter.....who doesn't have a choice. But was a choice her mother didn't choose first. You're in every right to feel however you want. But, because of the whole story and who it affected, I don't. My sympathy lies elsewhere.

People have been using drugs to control people for centuries. She is more a victim than anything else, but getting arrested could be the first step to a better life. It happens.
@Mami_Loca

@@ChessIsJustAGame agree somewhat. I've been there so the drugs absolutely become a controlling factor for every waking moment in your addiction. I'm not better than anyone struggling with or coming out of it. There is always a consciousness, however, even with the drug muddle in your brain that we're aware of what we should be doing and the fear of getting sick puts dope first. The reasoning is I'll feel better and then I can be better (for my kids, my family, my job etc...) and this will be the last time. The cycle begins and continues, even after arrest, children removed, you lose friends, partners...everything. I don't doubt she loves child and doesn't want to be controlled by or bound to heroin. But as you mentioned, this could be the reality and wake-up she not only needs but that actually is her rock-bottom that she admits to and chooses to begin the painful and challenging journey to recovery. I want her to succeed for herself and her girl. When kids are involved, my heart goes there first. I'd love these clips to have follow-ups of success stories.

I've raised a child of addicts for 10 years. I've taken this child to endless counseling and doctor appointments and have learned to help them deal with life-long behavior issues that come with being exposed to drugs in utero and infant neglect. She said her daughter was 19 months old, so either she used while pregnant or CHOSE to start using drugs after her child was born. While I do hope for the best for her, I have 0 sympathy. Hopefully she is offered help and takes it, but as far as feeling bad for her? That's a hard no. The only sympathy I have is for the children of addicts.

I guess all he really wanted was to get some double meat in her buns and slap that special sauce all over it and in return she just wanted a large thick straw full of coke.. So yeah.. Sure, I can see how a Big Mac meal might have all of those characteristics they wanted and came to be "on the table" for discussions of services.. lol
