The more I see this bike, the more I want it... I used to hate the look of the headlights, but it has grown on me a lot

Same for me. Last May I went to a dealer to an open demo ride day and I had never paid any attention to Street/Speed triples in the past because I didn't like the look of them. But the new (or 2018 model) version in black and red just had that something in it and I test rode it and liked it a lot. Then I found myself looking at its pictures on the dealer's website often and eventually I bought the very same bike :)

You can change the settings on the indicators to where a small push makes it only blink 3 times and a long press it'll blink for like 8 seconds after the turn. Great vid, I love mine!

I love the looks of the speed triple . Love the 3 cylinder engine . The new bikes performance is maybe a little better but it’s in refinement where it is a lot more ahead . For everyday street use the older model will b about as enjoyable as the new one . I think the new does seem to ride a little better than the older one . ??? Great review. Lots of fun .

Nice review! I just bought the RS and drove it not so much but I like it already👍 I've owned the sp3 R 2013 but this feels like a new bike. I also own a SD1290r which is more brutal but the RS looks far more better and the balance is much better and refined than my SD1290R. Great job Triumph. 👍👌

Not one complaint, its an amazing ride. I rode a XSR 900 before this, great bike, but the speed triple RS is a few lvls above it. The S1000R is a great ride man, I cant offer a sincere comparison, but I love my Speed... I can be a hooligan, I can go on long rides, I can take the curves and I've seen videos of it being a great track bike, its really a one bike fits all kinda a bike... at least to me.

I can change the indicators on my 2018 Tiger 800 XRT to give three flashes like a car by setting up the correct options: Home -> Bike Setup -> Indicators -> Auto Advanced. A quick push gives three flashes, and a long push gives full indicators. This feature also sets self-cancelling. I presume that the Speed Triple RS has the same feature, as the TFTs look the same.
@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
Peter Hatfield had no idea hey did that! Wonder if the Speed can? 🤔

Nice review thanks! Not too technical, but honest excited relevance and some fun riding from clearly an avid Speed Triple rider. Kudos for filtering the obnoxious yellow Porsche! ;-) Personally I've found my 2005 & 2008 Speeds more planted with the feeling of more torque lower down than since the 2011 change, though the specs may tell otherwise. Perhaps I like the weight. However, this new RS (I have not ridden yet) which is probably even lighter seems to have recaptured the animal I love so much and in matt black with black Öhlins -- yes!
@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
LaughMuBai definitely recaptured the hooligan side of things!
@bandogbone32655 жыл бұрын
Maybe the yellow Porsche guy was actually being playful, teasing you a bit, one "speedy" to another. It looked like he was making room for you on the left on purpose, and there was no chance at all he'd risk scratching his left fender with a sudden jerk to the left. Any excuse to turn your speedy a few extra times is always a good thing!
@caballerosuave5 жыл бұрын
@Dubble D I'm considering th Speed Triple RS for first and probably last sport/standard bike, as I also want a cruiser. I know conventional wisdom by many is that this is "too much" bike for the first bike. I am most certainly going to take the motorcycle rider safety course prior to purchasing any bike. I have also committed to taking the advanced level 2 & 3 course available here in the United States, once I have 1 year of riding, as they suggest. What are your thoughts?
@DaytonaDays5 жыл бұрын
Anthony Smith I’d say it’s probably still too much, but it’s your call bud. I’d say at least go for an older 675 Street R to learn on. No matter how many courses you do it’ll never make up for miles travelled and the experience(s) you get along the way. Whatever you do take it easy, make sure you can stop in time to not hit whatever you’re racing towards 👌🏼

Good review dude just got back from a test ride my god what a machine - the auto blipper is crazy good WD Triumph. Getting mine next week in white. One thing though Triumph honestly, the top rs model you give us CruiseC but not heated grips or auto blipper standard I know it keeps the price down a little but the auto blipper at least should be standard for the RS. Mine is Rosners ex demo so had the auto blipper anyway thankfully next wednesday cant come soon enough!

Bought mine back in June and although love the bike, have proper issues with the quick shifter going up from 4th to 5th. Finds false neutral just about everytime. Also have huge power bands across every gear as well. Niggles but still glad I bought it !
@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
Triumph OnTour sounds like faults rather than characteristics bud, I’d take her back to be tested!
@triumphontour8956 жыл бұрын
My local dealership are crap and have been no help since I told them of the problems. The powerbands I can live with but the quickshifter issue from 4th to 5th is almost dangerous. Don’t use the shifter going up without bliping the throttle now, just in case !
@triumphontour8956 жыл бұрын
Also bud, once you get used to the downshifter... it’s fucking heaven ! If ever you fancy a blast welcome to swap bikes for a few hours 😉👍🏻
@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
Triumph OnTour who’s your local dealer bud?
@triumphontour8956 жыл бұрын
Triumph dealer in Dunmow, Essex. They said first that the gear box needs proper running in (already done a week in the Pyrenees and back and weekend riding and done just under 3k miles and still no difference). When it had its run in service, one of the technicians said that Quickshifters are crap anyway and not really designed for purpose which made me laugh. I asked if there was a chance of re-updating the software in case that was an issue as its so frequent on that particular change but got nothing back. With all the sexy extras i paid not much short of £15k for the bike and had hoped for better service but other local guys in garages i know locally have all had relatively detrimental things to say about the dealer which is a shame. I am actually going to chase them up again today to see if they will even take a look at it for me. Pain in the arse - other than that i love the bike, its epic !

Really like the look of the new Speed with all the mod cons. My SuperDuke has all the same features but the Triumph looks slightly sharper. Just needs another 35bhp 😬
@exothermal.sprocket6 жыл бұрын
They punched the Tiger up to 1215cc, why couldn't they make the Speed at least 1200cc? haha
@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
Jim 86 you’d be surprised at just how quick in a straight line these are, would be good to get a Duke to compare it actually 🤔
@exothermal.sprocket6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I suspect the subtle things about it would make it pretty quick, such as the fact it's got good torque everywhere so it's pulling stronger for longer. May not have the highest trap speeds but the time would be good.

Ah Siao I think it’s more a lot of people are trying to justify their purchase... However I always say to people, buy what you like more. I prefer the Speed, some people prefer the Street, everyone is different I guess 🤷🏽♂️
@ahsiao47286 жыл бұрын
That's right !! Speed immerse torque will be so enjoyable as there is no replacement for displacement. 765 no doubt will handle better on the street but Speed on highway is much more stable. To each of its own
@roadrash766 жыл бұрын
Dubble D I agree 100% with your statement. Obviously my opinion is just that, an opinion and not imperial evidence, but having owned a 2018 Street Triple RS for a year, I prefer my 2019 Speed Triple RS. My new Speed has noticeable grunt and pulls much harder than my Street RS. The cruise control and heated grips are also very practical features which are not to be taken lightly, especially if you ride in all weather conditions and long rides. The fit and finish on the Speed RS is also a cut above the Street RS. Just my opinion overall.

Great Review Dubble, I'm thinking of trading my Street 765 R for one of these, I've owned every gen of Speed triple and miss the grunt of the big bikes. Do you think your exhaust had anything to do with the quicker acceleration? Is yours mapped?

Great review of the Speed RS. I rode the street rs and the speed rs back to back. At first I thought the speed felt bloated and pig like after being on the street rs...after 15 minutes I couldnt remember what the street felt like and each time the front wheel lifted I would break out in a cackle. Its either going to be a Speed RS or a Monster 1200R. Have you reviewed the Monster 1200 ever? How does it compare?

Top review. I've been going back and forth about going from my 2015 Speed R to the new RS, but wonder what your opinion on it is considering the finances. I bought my Speed brand new last year for $11k USD since it had sat on the showroom for so long. Do you think it would be worth the sort of 7-8 grand more to ditch it for a new RS? I wouldn't think it would be but I haven't ridden one to know.

People forget that getting more power doesn't always pay off because you add more weight. Weight is always worse for corners and handling. Sure, you can't have 150 bhp and 380 pounds of weight, but you can have 400 pounds and 125 bhp and that's often more worthwhile than about 460 pounds weight.
@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
Lifted_Above I think it depends on what type of bike it is as well, the Street and the Speed get compared a lot (even by myself) but they’re two very different bikes.
@roadrash766 жыл бұрын
Zachary Lechevalier I did. I had a 2018 Street Triple RS which I had for 1 year. Not a bad bike at all, but the Speed Triple RS is just that much better and just looks more upscale. Also the cruise control and heated grips are nice features which I use since I ride year round.

@DaytonaDays6 жыл бұрын
Charlie R well what do you know huh? Indie potatoes 😂😂😂
@charlier77736 жыл бұрын
When I had a test ride I turned them back to manual. The issue for me was.... to do a lane change you pressed it for a short time, to do a junction with self cancelling after 8 seconds you pressed it for a long time. I couldn't get used to the short or long press depending on whether you wanted lane change or a junction. I think I'd leave them self cancelling but without lane change if I had one. The home screen is quite cool, there's lots to adjust on it, bike needs to be stationary and you press the home button on the right hand switch gear to enter into it. Full manual available on the triumph website aswell if anybody wants to see what things you can adjust.

Hello D...., I have a question if there is such a big difference in the feeling of heaviness and ease in riding, turn...etc... between speed RS 2018-19 year and speed from 2017 year version R ??? I am asking because I have the opportunity to buy the R model from 2017 year with many accessories like SC project exhaust system (two silencers) etc. The RS 2018 or 2019 model is still expensive in my country and I wonder how big is really the difference in riding both models. Do you really feel that RS is much easier to ride from the R model? (about engine differences, power, electronics etc...does not write because it is not that important to me and I know what both models are different).
@DaytonaDays5 жыл бұрын
SED KEDZ if you’re comparing both models out of the box then the RS is 10x better. Revs higher, more agile, etc. But with mine I’ve got forged wheels, a low boy, a few other mods that make the difference negligible. You wouldn’t be disappointed with a 2017 R, but test ride both 👍🏼

@@DaytonaDays Hello Dubble D I still did not purchase any Speed. I read a lot of opinion from FB forum group Speed Triple that RS have some issues with dash, QS, 4th gear issues, keyless start issues so I thought to purchase R model from 2017. Have You also heard about such problems with RS? Maybe it will be safer to buy the R model? Reg.

SED KEDZ the RS is a much better bike, but if you’re worried then go for the 2017 model

Thanks for answering! Could you elaborate? (Take in mind that i’m a reaponsable person) is a street triple good to start with? In Belgium (where i live) we’re practicing and doing the exam for our permit on a yamaha mt-07.
@DaytonaDays5 жыл бұрын
Jamal M I don’t think it’s about being responsible bud, it’s about experience. Being able to react and know how to handle quite a fast bike takes time. If you don’t have any experience of that kind of speed/acceleration, then your mind just won’t be able to cope with how fast you need to react or how to correct something if it goes wrong

The Incredible Sulk better looking, just as fast, just as bonkers, but I’d put money on the Speed being faster in the corners - and it’s better looking

Recently I just had my 18 Street R stolen. I doubt it will be found and from what I am told the guy is beating it up quite a bit. Do you recommend jumping into a 19 Speed RS? I know its 50 lbs more so I am just worried about the flick-ability and feeling nimble. I just want the extra power/torque, comes stock with bar ends, cruise, key less entry and ohlins. Just so many things i wouldn't have to re put on a street triple I guess. Does it really feel that much heavier?
@DaytonaDays5 жыл бұрын
GreasyHands that sucks - you say someone is beating it up? You know who’s got it?! If you were going to a 17 Speed R you’d feel the weight, but the RS is different, might be heavier than the Street, but they’ve lightened it in the right areas - you won’t regret it trust me

@@DaytonaDays It was stolen last Wednesday and they just found it yesterday. It has been spray painted and has scratches. Was wishing it was totaled but yeah I think at least for right now I am gonna stick with the street, I sat on one a few days ago and i can feel the wait plus i can barely tip toe (5'6"). Its a shitty situation but thank you for the response.

Would you say it's as nimble as the street?
@DaytonaDays5 жыл бұрын
The Street is still more nimble, but for me the Speed is just the right amount of nimble and punch where as the Street I feel as if I’m ringing it’s neck - still bags of fun though 👌🏼

Triumph's problem with these models is they aren't spelled differently enough. Speed Street Street Speed Speed Street Speed Street Speed Speed Street Speed Street Speed Speed Street Speed Street See what I mean?

nick bio firstly it can do 265kph, secondly, the gearing is the reason, if the gears can’t go higher than 165mph, then it doesn’t matter how much power it has it won’t go above 165mph... end of story... aerodynamically it isn’t built for top speed, more 0-100mph if anything

I'm sorry I have to point it out, no one noticed the car cut off and commented on it. Just before he gets back to the dealership he cuts that car off hard. I get you want to do a good review but at least don't put the bike at risk when you're "Borrowing it" from anyone else. It's still a sick ride.

@@DaytonaDays 11:28 I'm not trying to troll its not my nature but I've lost a bike over aggressive riding and the bad part was it wasn't mine. Granted it wasn't my fault I was rear ended but my friend was out a bike I couldn't replace. It's a shitty feeling I'd hate to have it happen to someone else. You'll point out it was stopped, at a light.
@DaytonaDays4 жыл бұрын
Oricalcz of course I’m going to point out that it was stopped and at a red light?! Bikes typically filter to the front of the queues in the UK to stay ahead of traffic. You’ve made it sound like I just cut him up at 90mph, seriously bud, you’re over reacting. Absolutely nothing wrong with that manoeuvre, sorry you lost your bike, but going round and criticising others riding isn’t the way to spread a message.
