Definitely right there buddy, drives me nuts when so called pro road testers say the suspension is stiff. It’s Ohlins for Christ sake , it’s top end stuff and designed to be adjusted to suite. I also wish pro riders stop telling us about its failings on a track as most people buy a road bike to ride on the road. Who cares if the brakes fade a little after braking from 150mph after 5 flat out track laps. It’s not a Moto GP bike it’s a road bike. Also who cares about doing wheelies, if you get caught on the road doing them you are in for a ban. It’s an awesome bike I’m sure I’d love one.

Out of that list the MT-10 got the nod from me, I had one and really regret trading it for a KTM 1290, KTM electronics are finicky at best, the S1000R was too clinical (Fast, accurate, smooth but left me cold) although the new version is supposed to be way more fun, Speed Triple and Tuono just crippled me.

I agree, some of the bigger magazine type testers complained that it was stiff suspension. It’s fully adjustable and top draw stuff as road bikes go. Surely a pro magazine rider can tweak the suspension to suit, makes you wonder for sure. Most riders don’t need to keep dicking about with the suspension once it’s set up anyway. It’s great to see Lamb Chops do a review because he is so enthusiastic.

Blimey, you Britts really know how to make a cracken motorcycle. Those bikes are sexy and responsive. Triples are the way to go. That is why the Japanese are trying to jump on the bandwagon. They see the potential in the Triples. Keep up the good work. Love your video vlogs. Very exciting to watch and hear. We KZbinrs like to hear the bike in all it’s glory. And your riding comments just makes it complete.
@exothermal.sprocket3 жыл бұрын
To be fair, a triple isn't anything new with Japan. While triples really have some unique character, torque production, etc. they aren't as sublimely smooth as an inline-4. Triples have the imbalance issues called "rocking-couple" and it's felt in most of them. It's a course feeling tingle that comes through all contact points. Some fours have a terrible vibration issue too, but there are a few standouts that are absolutely butter. Fours can be very torquey but they have to be built and tuned for that purpose.

You would think with the amount of keyless cars being stolen. Bikes wouldn't go the same way. The stupidest keyless are the semi keyless. Ignition is keyless but you need to get the fob/key out for petrol and removing the seat. I really don't understand the enthusiasm for keyless vehicles. Is it because we are getting lazy and the effort of getting keys out is just to much for some or am I just old? Nice review 👍

If the gas tank won't open, it's in the manual ... there is a wrench behind the cover over the overflow tank, and you pop out the 6 bolts in an emergency, if the tank really won't open. For the track, you can use the standard non-smart key, it's much smaller. You have to hold the key to the sensor located on the right side sort of between the rear seat and pillion seat at the plastic to start the bike. Technically you could leave the key at the paddock after starting the bike ...
@S1000xrhp3 жыл бұрын
Good information but does all this represent an improvement over the use of a key? No, it's just technological overreach, an unnecessary over-complication of style over function. Make it a no cost option and see how few would choose it. Make it a £500 cost option and I guess the number would be zero. And yet triumph want £200 for a screen fairing option that simply finishes off the bike and should be standard. Yet triumph say they've listened closely to their customer feedback?
@xorbe23 жыл бұрын
@@S1000xrhp In the UK bike theft at stops are a thing. The thieves grab the key from the ignition and run off. The rider stands the bike and chases the guy with the key. The other thieves push the bike away. Now they have the key and the bike. With smart-key keyless, the bike is useless once turned off. This is what they are fighting. Thieves are opportunistic and also allergic to risk as we all are, and having to physically fight someone for a key in a pocket will lower thefts at stops.

Thank you for a great review. I own a Streetfighter V4S and I find it a bit to difficult to live with on a day to day basis. It is like sitting on top of a stove in slow traffic and it consumes fuel like a car (07.2 litres/100km). You are saying that you can get 120-130 miles on a tank, is that until you are entirely out of gas, or until the refuel-light turns on? I get around 150km (90 miles) on the V4S until the refuel light goes on.

Excellent video, makes me want one! For the price it really should include a steering damper.

I’m undecided about the new Speed Triple, in this class, for the road, I’d probably go the Super Duke R and probably be as good on the track the few times I’d go. Personally, for the road, I believe the best current triple engine is the CP3 in the new MT09SP. Just the right amount of power, electronics and it now handles great
@barbieandbellaadventuresby91343 жыл бұрын
Yeah I prefer the Yamaha CP3 compared Triumphs Triples. Having said that I’ve not tired the this new one so maybe this is better 🤔

I’m undecided aswell mate! In April I’ll be testing Both! Only thing I hate is super duke’s plastics feel like a 125s build quality. Triumph just feels and looks solid. Let me know what you choose

Great review. Killer bike. May have to add it to my speed twin 1200. Now totally different bikes but would you do the speed triple over the rocket ?
@grahamtricker41033 жыл бұрын
You might not be able to change the exhaust John, as Euro 5 puts a lot of bikes in limp mode if the exhaust is messed about with, unless of course it comes from Triumph...
@andyjackson53 жыл бұрын
yeah most newer bikes need to be flashed if you change even just the end can nowadays, otherwise your lovely tft ends up flashing like a xmas tree

Just picked up mine 2 days ago. I’m from russia and luckily here this is one of the most affordable super nakeds. It costs 18,6k euros, meanwhile Ktm is 23,3, and streefighter is 27,2. So its a great value for money!! But i wonder how triumph performs compared to KTM. Especially regarding dynamics?
@RiggerbeeOffRoad3 жыл бұрын
Some bike! Really wish triumph would go mental with the colour schemes again though. Would be all over a crazy purple one

Did you ever ride the 1050 Speed Triple? I had a 2006 S3 and the reviews for it constantly used the word hooligan for all the right reasons! The short wheelbase and low down torque made for a wheelie machine that was all day comfortable but always ready for a track day. Is the new 1200 engine still torque in the low end like the old 1050? Is it still a hooligan machine or have they made it into a high revving sport bike?
@markellison48753 жыл бұрын
Real world review as always. To be honest all the super nakeds are brill, it comes down to personal choice. For me, i won't be swapping my SDR gen 3 anytime soon.

Great video. There's one big problem with this bike for me, I spent too much money last year on a 1050cc Speed Triple RS, and I can't afford or justify swapping it in for one of these !

@@pcarts232 Yeah, the 765s are good. They're a lot more "flickable" than the 1050 speed. I've still not had a go on a 1200 speed. It'd probably be too quick for me, but I do need to have a go on one :-D

Wow what a bike. Steering damper is a must. Front lifting over small humps on acceleration is asking for a tank slapper. Feels a bit dangerous to me not to have one.

My concern with this bike is the same as my concern with the Tuono - every time you really stretch its legs you're risking your licence! Now I definitely plan to own a Tuono, because that is - imho - the best soundtrack in motorcycling. Triple is the second best noice for me, but I wonder if the previous gen 1050 is a better shout for the road, because you can actually make use of the power more often? The Tuono I reckon I'd take on track quite a bit just to actually be able to enjoy it properly.
@pcarts2322 жыл бұрын
That’s a really good point, you have to be so careful ❗️ with the Speed and I’ve owned mine since April and I’ll be honest it’s actually a shame that such an amazing machine has to be ridden so nervously everywhere because of speed cameras everywhere,

My mate got done last week for doing 23Mph in a 20 Mph Zone! When I ride the Speed Triple in 20 mph Zones I think it actually tries to stall ! 🤣it’s basically saying “ oi I’m a 180 bhp 1200ccc bike wtf are we doing “ haha 😂
