Okay guys, I agree that tho we’ve come far, these things do happen against women still i get that? the same as racism still exists even tho thats come far. She may have points in the video but vilifying men and portraying them as monsters really isn’t the way to do it. Or use another music video that wanted to aim for more serious issues such as gun violence and racism.

The way she called it a “women’s edit” when half of these things happen to men as well but she doesn’t care is so sad. i think the video would have been better if she didn't villify men quite so much and maybe talked about woman-on-woman pressure (and obviously didn't spoof off gambino's video). girls put huge amounts of pressure on one another to be pretty enough, compete against each other, and act a certain way. most kids who start makeup early, are insecure about their appearance, or don't like their body, stem from being compared to and judged by other girls. we always want to be better than one another.

dana not donna I'm not saying that they're never the problem. I'm saying that women themselves are also the problem and no one ever focuses on that. women give other women shit all the time, about appearance, being considered slutty/a whore, etc. i personally never really felt shitty about what a guy thought of me, and if i ever got critical comments on my appearance, they were from girls. guys slut-shame too, sure (I hear guys in school), but so do girls and i agree that there are a lot of problems from both sexes but it's about time we acknowledge that a lot of our issues come from the inside as well.

Leaving aside whether a woman should have made this kind of a video based on Childish Gambino's masterpiece, can we all agree at least that such a terrible human being like Nicole Arbour ("Dear Fat People", "Why 'depression' is all in your head") should not be the one who makes it?
@Manicca6 жыл бұрын
Had it been ANYONE else - preferably unknown even - who did this, it'd not recieve the hate it is getting. People are frankly hypocritical by this point, claiming racism is a bigger topic than women oppression. Its EQUAL. Both bring up valid points, issues the world is actually having - even if not EVERYWHERE and in extreme visibility. Racism isn't as visible in every country either. It's just disgusting me how people are totally trashing her points whilst claiming Gambino isn't targeting a specific topic and disregarding others. Nicole is focusing on Women and Women issues. Gambino is mainly focusing on Racism and Violence. I absolutely hate Nicole and I'd most likely puke on her due to my distaste for her "opinions" / "jokes" (whatever she calls it). - but the video still brings up valid things.

As a feminist, I am disgusted by what Nicole's video talks about. She isn't a feminist, she's just a man-hater like Daz says. People like Nicole give people like us a bad reputation therefore the name 'feminazi' Women have come so far and Jeremy Corbin is currently talking about letting 16 year olds vote. Around 1897, the NUWSS was created. They were a peaceful protesters who wanted to have a choice and be able to vote. Then around 1903 the WSPU was created. They were peaceful at first, then became more violent as they felt that it was the only way to grab public attention. And that is what I think Nicole is trying to do. She's trying to be violent with words in order get attention. And simply that. I am extremely irritated with Nicole's actions and hope reality dawns on her later in life because she is missing the point.

I dislike this video not because she’s white doing this or because of her history, but because this was just straight up lazy. Childish Gambino handled the delicate themes in his video through jarring contrast that makes people come to their own conclusions. For example: he dances with kids while chaos is raging in the background. This references 1) the way America moves on too quickly from crimes and shootings; or 2) the way that black youth are handling such traumatizing events and how it does nothing to help; or 3) how black artists are just a distraction from the real problems. This is only Gracie the top of the symbolic iceberg when it comes to his video. With this video, it’s is performed in a very patronizing, unsympathetic way. There is no contrast between the background and foreground, in fact, there is barely a real background at all due to her going into focus on each group presented. Anything else that was not intentionally about the topic was stolen from the music video and really did not mesh with the topic. The intro music reminded people of the older music African Americans made back in history, but in this video it was just used as a comparison. She had another guitar playing with it; why couldn’t she have used some other instrument and played the same notes? We would have gotten the obvious connection, especially with the location, video presentation, title comparison, and timing of this being released during the TIA hype. I’m not going to go into everything that makes her video lazy for many reasons, but the laziness is at the very least an insult to the original work. It is not a parody, but a bastardization that hand-holds the audience instead of allowing them to come to their own conclusions.

He's been fighting for years for full custody and if it was the other way around and he was the abusive one the kids would be removed immediately. It's sad and frustrating. I think the women who are feminazi's have grown up with sexist people in their life and they don't realize not all men an women are the same. My stepdad is sexist and the men on my moms side have all been sexist but the newer generation of men and young boys aren't like that. I feel bad for the women who have struggle before me and for the narrowminded men that have put them down, but the world is changing, especially in America. We are so lucky to be progressing the way we have been. I'm not making excuses for the feminazi's but just trying to understand where they might be coming from. Anyway, peace love and happiness.

I agree I'm in a teen issues class and we had to do research on certain things like domestic abuse and I ended up getting so into it there so many lies that not only don't favour men are so many situations that can only put the victims of violence and danger but also their children just based on gender alone it even Cuts closer to home to me cuz one of my own friends was in an abusive relationship with his wife!

@@kaniq6120 My father was in a relationship like that before he met my mother, and as stated it was lop-sided towards the woman... Who hit him with a cane.... I still don't get it... Feminist now-a-days seem to want power, to be the oppressors. It's repulsive!

I honestly agree with Daz its man hating and not feminism, So embarrassing for us women. Not all of us think that every man is like this.

Amber Tuigamala I don't think she's implying every man is like that, just enough for it to be a real issue. I'm a defender that generalization is always terrible, but I don't think this was the case. I actually think she made some strong points even though I don't personally like her or enjoy her content, but Daz was the hateful one, portraying sexism as not a real problem and invalidating every single thing the video was trying to say, maybe not in the right way, just because he is not like that. Sadly, many people are.

Ana Whatevs Enough for it to be a issue???????? But don't women cheat as well? Do men get treated equally? Example what daz said about Men getting raped. If a women was to rape a man the man would be blamed not the women and how women makeup fake stories about how men have raped them and then they confess later about how it never happened. Daz was definitely not the hateful one he said himself he "believes in equality for all" what he doesn't agree with is how women can say men cheat when women do cheat. Hes honest and real, standing up for men just like shes standing up for women but this video is hypocritical. I'm just saying I respect you opinion.

Amber Tuigamala of course men can be raped as well as suffer from other injustices, I just don't think because the video was focusing on women's issues it must imply that men don't have any. It's of course my point of view and how I personally perceived the message, I didn't find it excluding or full of hatred towards men, I just considered it a statement that women still suffer from tons of sexism related issues and injustices, that's why they are raped more often than men, and suffer from the points she made on the video more often than men do, but of course that doesn't mean men don't suffer at all. Just to name an example to try an make my point as clear as possible, as it happens with the LGBT+ collectives or others, when they defend their rights they are not trying to take them away from straight people, they are not trying to say straight people don't face shit, they are just focusing on their fight. Generalization shouldn't be made and taken in offense. That being said, as I previously stated, I don't like Nicole or whatever her name is, but I have been a subscriber and supporter of Daz for years now, I don't think he's unfair towards feminism and the battle for equality, I just think he phrased his thoughts poorly in this particular video, making it seem as if sexism was an unimportant and almost unreal issue, even though he doesn't think so himself. I did watch the video he recently posted about his thoughts on equality and I was not disappointed, I do agree he is a nice man and I get your point, I really do. I just don't personally share it in this specific case.

"So embarrassing for us women." Stop. There are billions of women. You don't have to point out that not every woman thinks like this. We know.
