the part about body positivity should be all over all social media platforms. its so true and us trying to be nice could cost someone their life
@becca_rose_x
@becca_rose_x 3 жыл бұрын
Yes exactly!!! I have had multiple arguments with people online because of this whole toxic positivity mindset. I cannot stand it. The world has become far too sugarcoated and everything has to be diluted down. Nobody can be realistic anymore. Far too many people give out sweet lies. I’ve seen videos all over tiktok, people who are clearly obese and comments being like “awww babes,don’t say you’re fat.” “You are perfect no matter what size.” “Big is beautiful.” -all those generic typical comments. It really doesn’t help the situation, if anything,it makes it worse. All it does is creates the feeling of becoming comfortable in not wanting to change or improve health. If people want to compliment someone, compliment them on someone WORTH complimenting them on. Example,compliment their hair,or makeup. Don’t lie to people just to make them feel better. But the moment you be truthful about their weight, you automatically get labelled as a “hater.” No...I’m just being realistic with you. Nobody can handle the truth anymore. Sorry that was long 😂

More than that, people who are deeply insecure won't believe it. Sometimes it's better to say, you are beautiful, but you'd be able to see it, too if you were happy and healthy. As someone who was overweight, I only worked to lose it when I had fully understood that it wasn't making me more beautiful, and it wasn't making me happy nor was it not degrading my health. I saw a certain lifestyle and I was ready to steer clear of that, it was slow, but I started with something simple like only eating at certain times and trying to only eat what was good for me. After that, I was more ready to start working out and once you start with that, you have to stick to it and then it can become a release from everything. I didn't lose the weight because I thought I was beautiful, I didn't even respond to it when people called me that. Now, I do, because I know I am, and sometimes losing the weight can do wonders for the self esteem because that weight only degrades it for a lot people.

I was in your boat, though I was much heavier. No idea how to convert pounds to 'stone' (gg American education system) but I was like 195 kg, diabetic, list goes on and on including heart failure. Before the age of 30. I'm down to 125kg now, bout 276 or so pounds. What it's done for my mental state and physicality is tremendous, but I didn't get there by people telling me "you're beautiful how you are!" >> I got there because I've got friends who are BRUTALLY honest.

Love having people on the same wavelength as me, and I literally always agree with the things Daz says. Everything he says, is literally my brain! 😂 love people who have common sense and realistic about things. I really need some more friends with people who think this way lol. And yes same, I have been on tiktok and whenever I try to explain some actual truth with fake positivity, people always automatically resort to “oh you’re hating.” “oh stfu.” “oh you are bodyshaming.” People will always immediately jump at you without actually trying to understand. I personally think tiktok is the worst one out of all of them. People on there are so incredibly offended over everything! And I tend to see a lot of fat acceptance videos and fake positivity stuff on tiktok the most.

Yeah, the same goes for me and I completely agree you with and Daz (and anyone else agrees) because giving people the truth and offering support will never equal hate or shame - it's immature that people (especially those tiktokers) see it as hate and assume that that person needs to be 'cancelled' or something when they honestly want to help the person and they only have good intentions. I just wish people would take some more time to understand things better and I'm really glad that people agree with me. I love it when people have a similar thinking pattern to me and understand me well so I'm glad I've come across some like-minded people here :D It's like they say, "Great minds think alike."

On Daz’s rant about the new age “let them be happy” rant: he’s right! As someone who’s mindset stands on this kind of “let them be happy” mindset, even I can admit that he’s right. My rule of thumb is, as long as they’re not hurting anyone (including themselves), let them be happy. As long as it’s not damaging to themselves or anyone around them, it’s no one else’s business and they should be able to find happiness without the interference from people who think they know best.

@@brookemccaughey2637 I personally just find coming out annoying. Why assume everyone is straight anyway, and that straight is the normal. This makes people in the lbgtq community go through worrying about their family and friends reactions which is isnt fair. We shouldn't have to go through all that stress and self hate. It must annoys me to hear about the struggles people in the lbgtq community have to go through. I can also speak from experience because I'm bisexual 12 year old. Thankfully my parents are very accepting, but I have a huge family so there is bound to be at least one disagreeing person, which is worrying. But I hope you the best though 😁
