“Hank The Yodeling Ranger” a legend who sold over 80 million albums & countless awards. He couldn’t stand Tom Parker refusing to call him Colonel. He gave Elvis his start opening up for him in1954 at the Grand Ole Opry. Thankyou kindly JTL for another great tour

Yes he was known as Hank The Yodeling Ranger for close to ten years but he changed it to The Singing Ranger as yodeling was "too country".

Gavan...I don't think Hank Snow" gave Elvis his start" ..Sam Phillips ..Sun Records used his contacts to get this booking...Elvis , Scotty and Bill thought this would be a big as it would ever get"...lol...They didnt do well with Old Country audience...they did do the "Ernest Tubb' show after the opry also

It's fantastic that they contacted you about staying there. Your reputation precedes you. It's nice the way they preserved his legacy. Such respect we don't usually see in Hollywood for sure. Or at least we didn't. Our history is important. You show respect and you admire the subjects that you choose to vlog which is very important. And that's why people love you so much. Thank you as always for a very interesting and enjoyable vlog.

Love every thing in this vlog. Of all the country singers and the westerns I used to watch and loved growing up, don’t know why I never knew about Hank Snow. Thank you for sharing about him and telling his story. So cool you got to stay in his house. What a special person he was. I’m sure his wife was a great cook. So cool that on a day she wasn’t feeling well, Marty Robbins played and sang to her. So glad the property stayed in the family. I still love western and country styles. Thank you for all you do, Jordan and all the hard work you put in for us. All the great places you go, are the only way I get to see and learn about them in my life. You are very blessed. You are the best. Been enjoying the vlogs from Memphis. Elvis was from north Mississippi and I was born and raised in south Mississippi. Elvis spent time on Mississippi Coast before he made it big time. Love everything Elvis. Keep being awesome. God bless you and Jah

Hank Snow was a very close friend of my mother and grandmother. My mother was from Alberta Canada and started his fan club up there many many many years ago she was also a performer on the Calgary Stampede. Hank and my mom perform together oh, Hank had my mom and grandmother moved from Canada to Nashville where I was born. Package to call my grandmother used to call her mother. I remember Hank coming over to our house many times drinking a little vodka and oj and hanging around singing or talking to my mom and my grandma. I remember going to Hank's House several times he usually came to our house. Thank you for this video. My mom is 85 years old now I mean 86. This brought tears to her eyes all the memories

All that knotty pine on the walls is just amazing. My home is about two miles from Hank's Rainbow Ranch and when we moved in here (in 1980) the only knotty pine in our house (some may have been removed, I'm not sure) was in the dining room. It was so dark looking that we painted over it. You can still tell it's knotty pine because those knots continue to bleed through no matter how many times it is painted over. I drive by Hank's home (and the home of the late Kitty Wells which is very close to Hank's home) quite often as I am headed to the grocery store. I have never been inside either home and I very much enjoyed this peak into the home of Hank Snow. I had no idea that home had been turned into a B & B. A story you may not have heard: Hank's son, Jimmy Snow was married to Carol Lee Cooper who was the daughter of Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper, long time performers on the Grand Ole Opry. Carol Lee was a backup singer on the Opry and she and one other woman and two men comprised a group they called "The Carol Lee Singers" and they would sing backup with any Opry star who did not have his or her own backup singers and wanted them to sing. They seemed to know the words to practically every country song and their vocals were amazing. Being the daughter of Wilma Lee and Stoney Cooper and singing backup on so many songs and being married to the son of Hank Snow made Carol Lee a very beloved part of the Grand Ole Opry. Jimmy pastored a church called "The Evangel Temple" and Carol Lee played the organ and probably provided special music from time to time but I'm not sure about that last statement. I am speculating that she provided special music but I can't imagine that with her talent she would NOT do so occasionally. I was not there and cannot swear that this is true but I know it was widely talked about by members of the Opry who seemed to accept that it was true. One Sunday while Carol Lee sat at the organ waiting to play more music, Jimmy announced that "God had told him to leave Carol Lee and marry another woman." The country music community was NOT happy with Jimmy. They loved Hank but they also loved Wilma Lee and Stoney and of course they loved Carol Lee and they thought (rightfully so) that this was a terrible way for Carol Lee to discover that her husband was divorcing her. And seriously, I doubt that God had much to do with Jimmy's decision to dump his wife for another woman. The country music stars who used to attend The Evangel Temple any time they were in Nashville, dropped that church (and Jimmy) like a hot potato. It wasn't long after that when I was driving by The Evangel Temple that I noticed it was no longer a church and then shortly thereafter I was by there again and I believe a used furniture store was occupying that space. I would love to see the inside of Kitty Wells' home and the home of Minnie Pearl. I was diagnosed with breast cancer about 7 years ago and the Chemo and Radiation Therapy I received was at a Sarah Cannon (Minnie's real name) Cancer Center at Skyline Medical Center. I think there are more cancer centers founded by Minnie Pearl in the Nashville area but I'm not sure which medical centers they are connected with. I would love to be able to see inside her home and I don't know where it is located so I don't even know what the outside looks like. It would be a real treat for me to be able to see inside the homes of these two legends of the Grand Ole Opry. I would love to know who did the painting of Minnie Pearl and the one on the easel. Was Hank a painter? Also, I must say that this was a GREAT tour. I have lived in Nashville since 1965 (I'm older than dirt) and I have been in and around Opry stars for most of that time but I learned a lot watching you. Well done! BTW, that sticker of Gilleys? That is pronounced like a fish gill, not like a jail. Mickey Gilley, Rev. Jimmy Swaggart and Jerry Lee Lewis were first cousins who were raised together by their grandmother who taught them all how to play the piano and if you see Mickey or Jimmy playing they have some of the same style as The Killer. Fun Fact: Porter Wagoner and his wife divorced and Porter moved out but tour buses continued to go by the home which was now owned by his ex who was less than thrilled by all those tourists piling out of their buses and taking pictures of a home where Porter no longer lived and they probably had questions they wanted to ask about him. The ex-wife stood it as long as she could stand it and then she had a big sign erected in her front yard that said, "Porter Wagoner does not live here any more!"

I will have to investigate & see if there is any type of museum or birthplace tour for Porter. Also, you're too young to remember Jordan, but Porter had a weekly TV program way back in the 60s & 70s & a very young Dolly would guest very frequently. Jordan, you are the coolest guy in the universe. I'll tell you a funny story about Hanks toupe that you saw. This is absolutely true, as it's been well documented down through the years. Hanks fiddle player Chubby Wise, took an instrumental break on stage one night, and his fiddle bow got a bit too close to Hanks head. The bow actually caught the toupe, and snatched it off. There it was flailing away on the end of the bow, before it sailed into the audience. Hank turned to Chubby and said "You're fired" . So Hank got embarrassed, Chubby got fired for the night, and somebody in the audience caught Hank Snow's hair. Only in country music !

How cool to stay overnight at the Rainbow Ranch. Love that so much of it is ORIGINAL. The cowboy-themed curtains and pine wood paneling were amazing. There is a very happy, positive homey feeling about this place. Thanks so much for sharing it with us!

I was born in 1949 with my Dad being country and me being rock n roll (Elvis fan) so I love it ALL! I still prefer the classic country to the new stuff! Thanks Jordan for this stroll through the past!! I love the way you match up pictures! It was Gilley's in Pasadena, Tx.

In the late 70’s my parents took us on a tour of famous houses in and around Nashville and I remember going by this house. It quite unbelievable it is not a museum.

Such a treat to be able to take a tour of this home! My dad introduced me to the music of Hank Snow as a child. Turns out he and dad have a similar love of knotty pine and wagon wheel light fixtures lol. Thanks again for bringing us along on this adventure!

Nice job & interesting to us Hank Snow fans. I grew up on his music, thanks to my Dad & brother who were country music buffs. I was honored to have seen Hank & Ernest Tubb on the same show back in the late 70's. Thanks for this great vid, Jorden! BTW, do you know where his Martin guitar ended up, in a museum or? Thanks!

My hero Rory Gallagher included a version of "I'm Movin On" on his first album with his group Taste back in '69, which shows Snows influence even on a blues rocker in Ireland.

Jordon at 22:19... those posters are all made by Hatch Show Prints, still in business downtown Nashville and they have tours everyday. It’s in the same building as the Country music Hall of fame... the posters they have are INCREDIBLE. ...and you can still buy most of those posters. It’s a gem of a place.

Your vlog completely made my day. Thank you for being you. I was having a crappy day at work and on my now dinner break I saw that you released a vlog and watching you here at work gave me hope. Don't ever change the way you vlog. It's like my little escape in this otherwise bleak day. Thank you.

Great video. I performed with Hank back around 1973. We opened the show for him at The Blue Ribbon Inn in Hillside NJ.. I also was on Hanks original tour Bus with him. I believe it was a "Flexible Flyer"?

Well Jordan - you are new to me but so glad I happened on this Video tour of Ol' Hank's home. I'll definitely go to your other tours. Being Canadian and at my age - I have been a huge Hank fan for over 60 years. I have most of his albums and sang his songs often. Seeing the chair lift - I actually called Billy Deaton on Feb.11 , 1998 to ask , as a fan , how was Hank. Billy said : "Hank's fine. But he has lost his eye sight and doesn't leave the house " end of quote. A personal connection. I have a photo taken by my ex's family of Hank with her twin uncles - John & Charlie McGarvie , outside their home in Campbelton , New Brunswick ( that's in Canada) . Hank stayed with them when he did his radio show on CKNB Campbelton for 2 years. John and Charlie actually got him the job as they were friends of the station manager. I have read The Hank Snow Story 3 times. Just love him and his great music. What a guitar player too. Thanks for the informative tour.
