I remember watching DBZ on Telemundo without knowing a word of Spanish, because at the time, it was my best bet for seeing it unedited (and notably with the original soundtrack). So much nostalgia! Also Spanish Frieza was my favorite! He sounded so suave, which fitted his arrogance perfectly!

They translated from Freeza to "Dermesztő" in Hungarian dub because kids were watching this in the old days. 'Freez'a = Freeze = Dermeszt; Freeza = Dermesztő They translated Super Saiyan to "Szuper Csillagharcos" "Super Galaxyfighter".

@@carlosqribeiro Yes, the Polish version was a lector over a French dub, so we had Satan Petit-Coeur translated to Szatan Serduszko. Serduszko in Polish is a diminitive form of Serce- which means 'Heart'. So in our version his name was exactly the same as in yours.

I love the Mexican version the most, because it includes the Japanese music, which is my favorite, but the voices and lines suit the characters incredibly well. And I personally don't have to use subtitles, since spanish is my native language. Thanks for the Video! ^^ btw: nasyagen is right about how it depends on what you grew up with. personally grew up with the Ocean Dub, halfway into Namek, then it became FUNdub. then the japanese, (which I had to get used to) and finally the Mex Version.

Italian is the only european version that imported DBZ directly from the Japan, they added some lines in the dialogues, changed a pair of names, but actually the script is the same as the japanese and it's a pretty good version overall.

Another problem with the english score is the lack of silence, because silence can build alot of emotion into scenes, like before Android 16's death. Sorry if you like the score but I just think that when it comes to classic animes, rock/techno can never have the same potential a full piece orchestra can bring out.

Little fun fact about the Hungarian dub: the voice actor for Trunks later went on to voice Randy Marsh in South Park, while Vegeta's voice actor did the voice of Stan. It's kind of funny how the two voice actors had a sort of father-and-son role reversal.

I think something most of these dubs got wrong was adding grunting noises from Frieza when he's sliced in half. The silence in the orignal shows how shocked Freeza is. Other than that, the Mexican is pretty close to the best compared to all these others.

Actually, Mexican dub Krillin doesn't sound like a child anymore starting from Ep.61. Rossy Aguirre(original voice of Mexican dub Krillin) voiced him from the Original DragonBall to the 60th episode of DBZ,after that, Eduardo Garza starts voicing Krillin.

Tony Odar when you realize that the changed soundtrack was because the US dubbed version didn't receive the Japanese audio in time and has to improvise with a modern electro-rock soundtrack.

By that time they were a bit more accurate and his performance there was great, but even better with the original score. Yes, Oriental/Japanese martial arts, not American WWE, which is what the dub score tries to use. Example, Mr. Satans and SSJ theme. I didn't mention anything about VAs, I reckon Schemmel is great but it would of been better if he was following a more accurate script, which is something anime these days are doing.

I still like the Japanese version the best but I really liked the Hungarian voices. I am glad though that Funimation is improving the dub for Dragon Ball Kai to keep it more authentic to the Japanese version. Just compare the Japanese subtitles of DBZ to the American dub and you will see how much they butchered the dialogue.

Most of the shows English dubbed by 4Kids Entertainment (now called 4 Licensing Corporation) changed the soundtrack of the anime like Yu-Gi-Oh, Shaman King, and many others.

Furthermore, the Canadian Ocean Dub music is actually very good. The only problem of maybe a repetition of the music used in the beginning of the series in other parts of the series. The voices of Captain Ginyu and Vegeta Ocean Dub are some of the best English voice acting I have ever heard. The music is particularly good when the Ginyu Force was introduced. I think the voice acting in the Cell and the Kid Buu saga was not as good as the Saiyan and Frieza saga, the voice acting was still good.

English is the worst by far. How could they replace such an awesome song with shitty Powerpuff Girls-eque "music" and other generic rock and techno bullshit "music?" (I put music in quotes because you can't really call it music at all...)

USA are not the only ones to change the soundtrack. The Canadian Ocean Dub was the first dub in DBZ to change the original soundtrack.

That was still a US dub because Funimation was outsourcing the acting to Ocean Studios and other production to Saban. (not replying directly to OP, but for the sake of anyone reading),

Funimation also included a redone english dub with original soundtrack in the their DVDs. I didn't included here because it wasn't available at the time when i created the video.

Spanish (mex) and japanese are the best, i dont like US dub cuz they change the soundtrack, they should keep the origal, anywas, no la pelan! :)
