For the first time in convention history, we had five Goku voice actors participating in an all Dragon Ball panel from last year’s Kameha Con. The guests were OG Funimation Kid Gohan and Kid Goku voice actor Stephanie Nadolny, Ocean Dub voice actors Ian James Corlett, Peter Kelamis, & Kirby Morrow, and Latin American voice actor Mario Castañeda. Geekdom101 moderated this panel. The event kicked off with Geekdom asking all five Goku voice actors various questions about Dragon Ball. The voice actors then took questions from audience members. The panel wrapped up with a history-making “Kamehamehaaaaa!” from all the actors.

In 1999, after Funimation decided to make the dubbing for DBZ in-house, Stephanie was cast in the role of Kid Gohan, a role she took over from Saffron Henderson who voiced Gohan in the Canadian dub. Apart from Gohan, she also voiced baby Trunks, East Kai, Cargo, Miss Hamilton, Angela, and Idasam. When Funimation decided to dub the first Dragon Ball series, Stephanie was also cast as Kid Goku, a role she reprised in Dragon Ball GT. Apart from voice acting, Stephanie is also a singer and has sung the opening and closing songs for various animes such as Case Closed, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Dragon Ball GT.

Ian had hands-on experience in the recording booth in the 1980s when he programmed some drum tracks and helped with some computer sequences for a Queensryche’s album called Operation: Mindcrime. He went on to voice characters from memorable animated shows. These include being the first English dub voice actor for Adult Goku in Dragon Ball Z, Cheetor in Beast Wars: Transformers, Coconuts in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, and many more!

Not only is Peter a voice actor, but he is also an on-camera actor and stand-up comedian. He is best known as the voice of Goku for the Saban dub, which he took over from the first Adult Goku voice actor Ian James Corlett. Apart from voicing Goku, Peter is also the voice of Rolf in Ed, Edd and Eddy, Whiplash in Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Wing Saber in Transformers: Cybertron, and Villads in the Dragon Prince. He has been on-camera on shows like The X-files, Stargate Universe, NCIS, and IZombie.

Kirby majored in theatre at Mount Royal University, located in Calgary, Canada. Kirby is known as the third voice actor for Goku in the Ocean Dub, taking over from Peter Kelamis. He is also known as the voice of Miroku in Inuyasha, Rey Za Burel in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed, Aikka in Oban Star-Racers, Michelangelo in Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation, and more!

Lol, Sean is hired by a corporation. These guys most likely aren’t employed and under a contract for a company as big as Funimation/Crunchyroll which is a subsidiary of Sony. I would assume he isn’t allowed to collab with all these voice actors because of legal obligations. That’s probably why they had a tough time getting the TFS actors on Kai.

Mario Castañeda is fucking awesome. I've looked up clips of the Mexican DBZ dub on KZbin, and even though I can't really speak a lick of Spanish, I can just tell he's doing a fantastic job. This panel endeared me to him even more. He is clearly so invested in the material, he knows Goku so well, and indeed I can relate to his tidbit about how fans are annoyed with the direction of Goku's character in Super.

They Should had casted Veronica Taylor and have Gohan Sound like OG Ash, instead of sounding like a Confused Girl. Stephanie was amazing on the Cell saga as Teen Gohan. Her voice style match Gohan appearance. They have to Recast Little Goku.

Coming back to this video after learning of the loss of Kirby Morrow. I'm absolutely shocked and devastated. Fun fact: before this convention, I had no idea he ever voiced Goku, but I knew of his work and was a fan through Transformers Armada and X-Men Evolution. Upon meeting him, I had him sign the Goku poster I got in my Kameha Con gift bag and told him this. He then motioned to his stack of X-Men Evolution prints that I didn't initially notice. Then, without saying a word, pulled one off the stack and signed it for me, writing, "To Colton, from your buddy Cyclops", and handed it to me at no extra charge. Something tells me I wasn't the only person to receive this treatment. He came across as a generous soul who really cared for and appreciated his fans. Safe travels to Other World, Kirby Morrow. You will be missed.

Dude, you're so right about Kirby. He was one of the guests that truly surprised me the most with his generosity and willingness to be awesome to his fans. I was a huge fan of his work for a long time, but meeting him was very special and really help elevate my opinion of him. My fiancee and I took a picture with him, got my DVD signed, and he even got her a signed print of his Van from Escaflowne image at no extra charge. It hurts my heart to know that he's no longer with us anymore.

What a panel of Gokus. Just like how I grew up with Brian’s version of Vegeta, I also have strong memories of hearing Ian, Peter and Kirby’s version of Goku. honestly I didn’t know until two years ago that Ian left DBZ and Peter took over. Peter’s Goku sounds so similar to Ian’s so I had no idea that Goku’s voice actor changed in the Saban dub. I love Stephanie Nadolny so much as well. I loved her as Kid Gohan but she was so phenomenal as Kid Goku in Dragon Ball. That role was made for her. Whenever I think of Kid Goku, I always picture Stephanie’s voice for it.This is an amazing sight to see. I hope one day Sean can join the other Gokus and then it would be really epic. Awesome panel.

That's so interesting that Peter's Goku sounded so similar to Ian's. What great casting and what a great job on Peter's part! I loved hearing from every actor on this panel and getting their perspective of playing that role. What a phenomenal panel. All of them have such talent. I'm Hispanic but never got to see the Spanish dub, because in the early.90s when I was living in PR, DragonBall Z, DragonBall Never Aired, then I moved to US at the age of 12 and follow the show in English all these years. I'm so Glad Mario Castañeda is so legendary.
