DBZ 2309 & DFZ 2405, were the last two Aurizon locomotives, to work the Albany Woodchipper shuttle train service.
As this rail haul contract, has just recently been terminated. The locos were utilised to transfer 16 XOA class hoppers, from Albany to Picton. Where the wagons will then be scrapped.
This video of the wagon transfer movement, commences at Millendon Junction.
And ends, as the train arrives at West Collie yard.
Not Picton, near Bunbury as was originally planned.
Videoed Wednesday 19th June 2024.
DBZ 2309 (ex QR National livery) & DFZ 2405 (ex ARG livery), were to return light engine movement, back to Aurizon Forrestfield, for storage.
The transfer movement commenced Friday morning 14th June, from Albany. With an overnight stop at Wagin.
A scheduled Sunday afternoon departure, 16th June from Wagin to Avon Yard, never eventuated. Due to locomotive problems. Both the DBZ & DFZ were in power, at that time.
A rescheduled time table, was set for Wednesday 19th June. As follows:
Ex Wagin 12.30 hrs to Avon. 1st loco crew shift.
Ex Avon 7.00 hrs to Kwinana. 2nd loco crew shift.
Ex Kwinana 11.00 hrs to Picton. 3rd loco crew shift.
Late running ocurred, due to single line working re trackwork in the Avon Valley. Midland - Jumperkine. etc.
And as mentioned before, the XOA woodchip hoppers were taken to West Collie Yard, instead of Picton.
Note.
The DFZ was shut down, not in idle mode. Until reaching Pinjarra. Where the loco was fired up, for the journey up the hill from Brunswick Jcn, to Collie.
The wagons, will, be trucked to a local scrap merchant. Located in the Picton area.
Already large numbers of redundant coal wagons once stored at West Collie yard. Have also been trucked to the scrap yard.
