Yeah. Just before the first invasion, in chapter 492, 13th division's 6th seat Hidetomo Kajoumaru(Yeah I had to look it up. I didnt memorize this) also says something similar. After being questioned by a subordinate, basically asking that "quincies are bad and we're the ones fighting for a just cause right?", he says that "This isnt a conquest or a defense. This is a war and wars happen because both sides are just." I liked that guy too.

I really like how Shinsui recognizes the evil that is war yet is realistic about it is willing to win by any means necessary. This duality of him makes him really interesting like how he sees no point in pretending to be a nice and honorable when you are willing to fight and kill in battle. Definitely one of the best captains.

@@mirozkapeluszem I'm going off mostly the Arrancer arc and some of what I know of TTBW, but: I think in Shunsui's case, it shows his perspective on fighting and war, i.e. everyone is evil in war, so victory has less need for 'honorable' stuff like one-vs-one combat. So while not needlessly cruel, Shunsui's can do morally dubious things to win (e.g. commanding Unohana to train Zaraki, even though he knows it'll result in someone's death)

Erin V123 Indeed, I believe it was they were known to be incredibly deceitful, mischievous and cunning. The honor-bound bushido code wasn’t as upheld as much as people think. People are people after all. They would use anything they saw as advantageous to their position. Whether in politics, negotiations, wars or duels. In fact if I remember correctly, if samurai ignored advantageous positions in combat and loses in a duel due to said ignorance, they’d condemn him and consider him a fool. Though it doesn’t mean there wasn’t samurai that didn’t upheld the code.

One reason why Starrk is one of my favorites. In Bleach it always seems like those with power are the ones who don't want it while those below them would do anything for that same power. Starrk never wanted to fight, he just wanted companionship. He's one character I wish survived despite not having much of an impact on the story as a whole. I like to imagine an alternate timeline where Starrk does survive and rules over Hueco Mundo, having tea every once in a while with Head Captain Shunsui under the guise of it being 'official business'. I believe the two would've been friends if they weren't forced to be enemies.

I think my favorite moment of Kyoraku is when he gives Ichigo's friends the soul tickets so that they could potentially visit him. This is a completely different approach compared to the prideful Genryusai Yamamoto. He is much more sympathetic and that's his best trait. Edit: You covered this in your video! Well done. My favorite thousand Year Blood War moment was a Shunsui one, just when i was floored and beyond hyped off the hook with Yamamoto s Bankai and his display off it... Then theres Shunsui being the laid back gangsta he's always been, missing one eye, ready to body Robert, and he's beyond sad in a heartbeat, desperately yelling Yama-ji. I have experienced something like that. That Shunsui moment really hit in the feels. Kubo really is something on the emotional department at his craft and story telling.

my favourite captain. his development throughout the series is definitely a mesmerizing writing from Kubo. if there is anything to complain about, it would be definitely his bankai presentation bcs I think it would be much better if Kyoraku's final blow instantly lead to Lille Barro's demise. He's my favorite character in the series. I had him locked down as my favorite when the zanpakuto fillers touched on his dual blades and gently confirmed at everything Yama-ji explained about him before they fought. As zanpakuto are reflections of the soul, their powers and his usage of them express everything that was discussed in the video about his demeanor and values. Also, I think his bankai is PERFECT for him. And it gawdy dramatic, especially for a dude that stans a pink flowerprint kimono on top of his active military uniform, including during battle. And it mirrors the weight of repeated tragedies in his life. AND that last bit WAS supposed to a Curtain Call! And I love it! And I love him! He's friggin' awesome! I sPAzzz!

A lot of people sleep on Shunsui because throughout the whole second invasion he wasn’t fighting. But those people don’t realize that he couldn’t move from his location. Firstly, due to the fact that he was just appointed as the new Captain Commander. Secondly, he is the general of the shinigami who’s the one giving all the commands from the top. He is no longer a foot soldier who’s expendable. And lastly, he was in so many words ordered not to leave his position by higher ups because how I said in my first reason, he’s the Cpt Commander now he had to give the orders or else it would turn to a whole chicken with its head cut off situation. But later they will actually see how smart he really is when it comes to his leadership skills.

Shunsui is pragmatic, efficient, mysterious with a morally grey quality about him, funny, kind, lazy but serious when called for, extremely smart and perceptive, and a great fighter on top of all that. True multidimensional character that had satisfying development and participation in the story. He has a dual nature, always seeming casual but there’s like a sinister darkness there as well behind the smile. Good example is how he tries to talk his opponents into a diplomatic solution at first but if that fails then he’s a “dirty” fighter and anything goes. A good guy, a by any means necessary kind of good, similar to Urahara. Love this guy, iconic character design right there next to Kisuke, he just screams BLEACH. My favorite moment for him is when the captains and Lt’s are mad he released Aizen and he tells them they won’t have any pride left if there’s no Gotei so they should shut up and win at any cost.

He's also far more of a realist. 1. Knowing ideals do change and that despite his own strength using strength alone will never win wars. 2. Not all combatants in a war are worth butchering or under estimating at the same time. 3. You can't combine purely under a banner of rules and code. People have different motives. However my favorite characters in media and books are those that change due to situations around them. I wish it could have happened but at the same time ...... the way it happens is strangely beautiful. When you are at war, good men die as well and good men have to kill, sometimes people that would have been friend in any other circumstances have to kill each other because there is no other way around it, and as sad as it is, one of them has to do it or else he might just die, the best thing he could do is treat the loser with respect as he passes away. Their battle is so melancholic ....

Yeah, Shunsui is one of my favorites from the time first he was introduce till he now. There's just a certain calmness in his that is contagious. It's not really the calmness like Unohana, or the intimidating calmness of Yamamoto... but it's just he's like a breeze you like to feel... I was really happy when I read that he became the head-captain after Yamamoto... and now, watching the Thousand Years War Arc, I'm so excited to see more. kuuuh~~

First off, happy to hear that in this video you were almost at 20k subs, and at the time of me writing this, you're at 45.6k!!!! You deserve 10x more than that! Shunsui is my second favorite character, Urahara being my personal fave. You can just immediately tell how powerful and intelligent he is, but how he also has great respect for people and what they are fighting for, like with Chad. He hates fighting, even though he is so powerful, spending however many decades honing himself to be that powerful, knowing that he WILL have to use that power to fight, even though he hates it. I never once would believe that he is 'lazy', just much more of a realist and accepts reality for what it is and just lets it flow instead of constantly trying to disrupt it. He's just chill. Such power, such control, such understanding, such respect for others and their own battles/lives, all while being SO relaxed and calm because of his ability to accept what is because he knows there's no changing it, and if he has to alter its course, then he has the power to do so, and he accepts that because he has that power that he is the one that MUST fight. And that if he must fight, he MUST win. Just pretty amazing to have such a real personality, and one that I relate to so well, written and portrayed so well. Thank you again @DBZimran!!

I was attracted to Bleach due to Ichigo vs Zaraki fight, that was the start. When i saw Aizen s betrayal, i fell in love with Bleach. But Shunsui s Yama-ji!!! sudden mourn while getting shot, plus losing an eye, sealed the deal, no turning back, period. Nowadays, Shunsui made me stay on the Bleach party, but, Azashiro s stint is driving me mad when it comes to feeling concerned about Bleach. A lot of great characters to pick up on this series, but Shunsui s one off them who prevents me on forgetting Bleach. Honorable mention s, definitely Urahara by far, Yamamoto and Yhwach, really love the later, bigtime. Shunsui s swagger is unmistakeable and hard to live without tbh. His quotes never ceazes to seal the deal time after time.
