Cheetah is the only female DC essentials worth it thus far IMO, that Icons Supergirl stomps the essentials version. Even with essentials problems Cyborg Superman is a go for me.

They could've thrown in alternate hands and heads. Action figures need accessories, especially with all the recycled parts and the price point. Without accessories, those should be $15.

Yeah at first glance they look great then you get the messing with them up close and you see how lazy these figures are. Icons was a lot better and a lot cheaper. I’m still mad they canceled those which makes me not want to get these. I hope McFarlene do DC justice no pun intended lol so I can jump back into heavy DC collecting again.

McFarlane’s new releases coming soon (a few) look great 👍, problem is the articulation isn’t there on the majority and you know the paint on McFarlane as of the 7” stuff they do chips off, only getting the Batman Who Laughs for now Bc Quality over quantity.

that Cyborg-Superman is NOT based on Reign Of The Superman stories, but 1. the whole cyborg body is based from Ivan Reis pictures, if you know who Ivan Reis. or if not you can search on the internet. 2. that figure is like "real human" version of Cyborg-Superman, like Christopher Reeve style, as if he came from a real human Superman movie. realistic style of Cyborg-Superman.

I know who Ivan is. He does fantastic work. I didn't even think about him. I just emediatly went back to the original design. Ivan did the abs and muscle tone different to the original designs. I'd forgotten that he didn't blacken one side of the symbol. I have to say I respectfully disagree about these DCE having realistic body proportions. Even Cyborg Superman has long arms. They added length and narrowed the sculpts to accomodate the articulation. I e got some side by side shots back on my Instagram.

I have to agree that the DC Icons is pretty good, but the Essentials Supergirl's face is perfect. I don't have both in hand, but I'd like to see if the Icons body can hold the Essentials head. I really like the Essentials line. It's some of the best sculpting and paint at this price point. If they'd use the floating ball-peg torso on all figs (it's superior to the ab crunch in every way), as well as ankle pivot and more accessories, they'd be killing it.

I agree with most of what you said. Replacing ball peg with an Crichton’s and ball hinge with pivots would be super. I can’t get behind the paint though. Half mine have been pretty sloppy. I still love them though. I hope they keep making them.

I'm glad you did the comparison because the new Cyborg does not look quite like the older one. The head is off and I wish the 'S' had the half normal/half metallic look as it did in the comics. Otherwise it looks good, I'll eventually pick it up. I did get the Essentials Superman...holy cow there are paint issues.

Was looking at a little local store today that has a bunch of Essentials, and in the corner next to the Essentials Supergirl... Was a Icons Supergirl!!!! It made my day bc I had resigned myself to not getting her at all due to not paying 60+ and if I get the Essentials it’s always 2nd best 😆!....Now if I could just stumble upon a Super Sons set (ya right)

I have to say that I agree. While I like the scale of the Essentials better, and they are all great looks for the characters, the attention to detail, quality, and accessories was definitely better.

No contest between the ICONS Supergirl and the Essentials. ICONS nails it. I am not much of a fan of Essentials because I feel they are lazy. Cyborg Supes clearly has the most effort of all the figures so far. Peculiar and obscure choice for this line because of that fact. I don't see the inaccuracies so much as a deliberate choice (which they are) as opposed to still half assing it. It's easier for them to stamp the S cleaner with the blue extending further, for example. Still, I believe this is technically only the third Cyborg made in the 6-7" scale, so I gotta pick him up for that reason. I'm rough on the Essentials line because of the blatant corner cutting.

I did like the changes they made so the story would fit into the confines of the DCAU. It worked well for what it was. I did a review on the film when it came out.

I really like the extra efforts you are putting into your visual animations and photomontages. Your flight poses look great but the others more dynamic ones could be improved IMHO. It would be great to see a Martian Manhunter in this line.

I’m not planning on doing the BTAS figures. I just couldn’t afford to keep up and collect them all when they first started coming out. Now I’m way too far behind to start. As for Cyborg Superman, I don’t think he’s an upgrade to the DCD but absolutely better than the DCSH version. Those awkward split legs are so arduous to deal with.

I sold my dc icons super girl rn for this essentials version I got batgirl the other day and really like the female body I also prefer my super peeps to be tall and I didn’t like the light super blue on the icons I prefer the darker colors

Not impressed, Supergirls head sculpt is terrible and the eyes are laughable, Cyborg Supes emblem doesn’t bother me too bad but his mouth has no definition and those ankles again, jeez. I think I’m just out on DC figures until McFarlane produces or we see a new line, overall Multiverse still seems like a half hearted attempt to catch up with Legends and can’t understand for the life of me how Essentials line is selling better than the very much missed Icons.

Can we talk about how the DC Essentials Superman sculpt was changed last minute from the Reborn outfit to the ugly sculpt that actually shipped?

They actually didn’t do too much to change it. The boots and basic body remained the same. They just added cuffs and a sculpted belt. It’s not the suit that bothers me though. I’m down with trunks. It’s the narrowing of the torso, weak ankles, and big groin gap that bring the Superman down a notch for me.

The new Supergirl looks too old for her current age. The Icons version looks (more or less) like the comic version for Rebirth, even if also appearing too old (although I leveled the same criticism at the art in the comic, so it is accurate). It’s a really good figure, even allowing for the issues with the cape and skirt being really flimsy. The Essentials could work for a modern Supergirl, but should the skirt not be blue? Or is there another version of the costume I missed somewhere? I admit, I don’t read a lot of comics anymore. I do like the Cyborg Superman. Might have to grab me one at some point.
