James Gunn is a master of bringing obscure characters to life. Before his movies about the Guardians of the Galaxy, nobody would even think of them being on screen, also knowing how complicated Starlord's origin in the comics and how it's basicly unappealing. You can say a lot of things about James Gunn's Suicide Squad movie, but you cannot argue with the fact that Gunn is the master of obsucre characters.

Peacemaker is a perfect example of DC taking a chance on an almost unknown character and it succeeding. They have so many characters they can put a spotlight on in movies shows video games and cartoons especially but the mostly still do Batman and Superman which is fine but peacemaker proves they will succeed when choosing to do another characters for a change.

David Henriques - Yes but his story arc is him not wanting to kill anymore - and he’s constantly cracking jokes which are sometimes funny.. it’s basically a James Gunn creation as opposed to the peacemaker from the comics.

Deathstroke became a mercenary soon after the experiment when he defied orders and rescued his friend Wintergreen, who had been sent on a suicide mission by a commanding officer with a grudge.[7] However, Slade kept this career secret from his family, even though his wife was an expert military combat instructor.
