The sign that tells you that you need to stick with the doctor: he asks questions about your health and the care you give to your problem areas, he holds you accountable for your choices, gives all the recommendations that can assist you, and yet never criticizes you or judges you. Simply helpful!

Perhaps this lady is depressed and maybe alone most of the time. My mother is 92 and I help her with her feet. I trim her toenails and smooth her calluses. It’s difficult for an older person to get down low enough to do these tasks...I. Cal her daily and remind her to put cream on her feet and legs and to drink her water. She forgets otherwise. It’s easy to get frustrated but we must be compassionate with our older folks❤️

Everyone complaining about her “not wanting to help herself” and “barely answering questions” I even see the dr liking a lot of those comments. Maybe she feels ashamed and judged by him and is having a hard time with self care. That is very common in people dealing with depression and the last thing they want to do is go see a dr who is questioning them on why they aren’t living up to his standards... I hope this lady is doing well and thank you dr for helping to take care of her.

I'm more concerned with the comments and the dr liking the comments about her being lazy and not caring for herself. I only thought he was slightly judgemental in his tone but it could have been written off as "part of his job" until I saw that he liked a bunch of judgemental comments.
@stacyjones200
@stacyjones200 3 жыл бұрын
@@angiebaby8870 I don't think he's being judgmental at all. After all he is the one who has been treating her, and it's quite apparent she's not doing as she should. He continues to treat her and is doing an excellent job i might add. The fact that she continues to see him proves she doesn't feel like he's judging her.

This lady is no differnt than the rest of us. Our doctors and health care professionals tell us to watch our weight, watch our blood sugar, watch our cholesterol, watch our blood pressure, watch our rest, watch our stress, etc... We don't listen or follow directions all the time either. Our health care professionals do not give up on us even when we are in ICU because of our poor decision making. Even when we have backed them against the wall and they are the only ones fighting for our health and wellbeing. Plus, him helping this lady is helping one of us watching. He has probably told this woman the same thing many times. But some one watching is hearing it all for the first time. Maybe one of us can learn a thing or two and see 1st hand. Any doctor can be great when all things go text book well. But can you be a great doctor when things go wrong? Can you think outside the box and problem solve a new and inventive way or action? Can you remain professional when a patient has undone months or years worth of hard work? Thanks Doc and all of the other health care professionals who work on our behalf. Fantastic job.

@@darylmarshall476 How do you know they are lazy? You have no clue what this person faces at home or what other challenges they may have that prevents care of their feet.

Just Suzie, she says in the video that she was too lazy to do anything about it at home. Within the first few minutes she tells that to the doctor.

To keep my heels from building up...I put a pumice stone (can get from dollar store), put in shower right away then at end of my shower I rub on heels & other areas that are cracked or rough. Over time you get rid of the dead skin...it won't happen overnight

Regina Stoltz You should try a foot peel every 6 months. In about 3 peel your feet should be soft. And dry your feet every night and use Vaseline to moisturize.

Being a doctor how hard it would have to be to care about someone’s well being when it’s obvious they don’t care enough to take care of them itself! You have an excellent bedside manner!

I hope your patient is grateful for your wonderful work Dr. Jefferson. Her foot looks great now. Sadly it doesn't sound like she will be taking care of her own feet as you suggest, but you can only hope that your words will eventually get through to her. I suppose, giving her the benefit of the doubt, she may not be able to afford the correct shoes and creams that could help, we don't know her full story. Whatever, great work.

Well said. I think the doctor’s calm demeanor, continued encouragements and suggestions will help to make this patient more involved with her foot care. I expect to see this patient’s next update shows improved self care and improvement.

WOW! I'm telling you, weekly very warm water (as warm as you can take it), add baking soda and white vinegar works wonders! Be sure not to over fill foot bath as the vinegar and baking soda will bubble over. It kills fungus, soften feet and makes dead skin to come off easily. I like to use a sanded file and not the grater type because the grated type can cause more damage. Use a good tea tree moisturizer with pure shea butter or pure cocoa butter. Btw, this Dr. is awesome!

This is very helpful. Debriding the callous is extremely important and so is the moisturizing to keep the skin on the soles of your feet soft and supple to prevent further damage to the tissue. Many thanks to Dr. Jefferson for the shea butter tip.

You've done a great job, Doctor, on healing this patient's feet. It must be frustrating, however, when you do your part but the patient appears to take no responsibility for her own health and care.

It must be frustrating to work on someone’s feet and send them home with simple instructions for how to keep the skin moisturized, what socks and shoes will give the support needed - only to discover that when the patient returns for a follow up visit, they haven’t taken care of themselves. I hear you balancing the remarks you make between admonishment and encouragement. As a teacher of many years, I really appreciate how you balance your words. Great job on that.
