so helpful thank you so much! I was so bored to set my custom programs at the beginning of each flight that I was setting my ECM on bypass, which was not great especially for A/G strikes. Thanks to you I have now my beloved custom programs already set!

Hi there. I have used these mods for Hornet and A10 since I saw this video. However, it doesn't seem to work anymore. I just reinstalled DCS SR and OB and placed my modified lua-files in "device" but as I jump into the Hornet, the cms preset is back to default. Do you have any ideas what's wrong? Cheers!

hmmm, wondering about how changing the A-10 programs , which auto uses, will affect it

Great stuff my dude! Did Heatblur give you a pre-release copy of the Tom Cat? I know you haven't made any videos about it, I don't think. Honestly, they should of if they didn't! Your videos are concise, detailed, and informative. Most importantly, they are also accurate. Tell me something. With the countermeasure switch in manual ( how I currently fly) how is it possible to see the number of stores left for the system? I know that with the new release of the SA page datalink info it seems that it is displayed there, but is that dependent on the AL-47 being on? Honestly, I haven't looked to hard into it, but I haven't noticed any other way to see a countermeasure remaining count with the system in manual or override or whatever the label is.
@RedKiteRender5 жыл бұрын
The AL-47 needs to be on to show it on the EW page, otherwise the SA page can show it. As for the Tomcat we'l have to wait and see :)

As this video is old, has 2.7 provided a simpler way to configure countermeasures?

Another great and very useful tutorial buddy. Is there anywhere (apart from classified files) that we could load up to better defeat threats or is it just guess work?
@RedKiteRender5 жыл бұрын
For ir missiles its pretty much dump flares and cut power, change direction and keep dropping flares until dead or the missile has lost you. Radar you'l want to get yourself with zero closure rate by either a dead vertical dive, or turning 90 degrees off and drop chaff for a good while. Of course you can also use terrain masking to escape if it's an option. Don't be afraid to use your countermeasures, they're no good to you if you're dead.
@ColonelAkirNakesh3 жыл бұрын
Great tutorial, thank you. What do you have the wall panic mapped to?
@RedKiteRender3 жыл бұрын
Usually a dump of flares, so type 1 flares that'd be 8, or type 2 flares (viper/hornet) 16 dropped within a second.
@ColonelAkirNakesh3 жыл бұрын
@@RedKiteRender Sorry my coffee hasn't entered my bloodstream yet! I meant: do you have the panic button mapped to your HOTAS and where? And do you have a program for low altitude JDAM tosses on S300s + Tors, or do you use your MAN 1 described? Thank for checking the comments on this older video! Us newer DCS players are getting lots of value from them. Just signed up for your Patreon
@RedKiteRender3 жыл бұрын
@@ColonelAkirNakesh Thanks Kindly! So i usually have CMS left (TM warthog) for the panic button (forward/back for programs) depress for ecm and right for ecm off. I don't actually have any CMS profile for a pop-up loft/toss i rely on getting back into terrain cover before the missile reaches me. I might consider running a flare sequence during it if there's a risk of manpads nearby.
@ColonelAkirNakesh3 жыл бұрын
@@RedKiteRender Thank you! I completely blanked and forgot that I wasn't mapping CMS left or depress. I think I'll use CMS depress for my 'panic' :D

@@RedKiteRender For the Viper are you combining your Hornet 1&5 programs into the Viper's program 1, or are you switching between your chaff and flare programs between engagements?

Did I miss the part about programing the Hornet CMS on the ground? .. twice?
@RedKiteRender5 жыл бұрын
It's the whole thing, you change it via the lua file and it's set for you on the ground, works around the fact you can't change it before take off otherwise :)
@fonesrphunny72425 жыл бұрын
@@RedKiteRender Your wording in the beginning was a bit misleading. I was waiting for some kind of in-pit workaround. I knew there had to be a LUA file but just couldn't be bothered to look for it. Thanks for saving my time. Works like a charm. :) Can't wait for the data cartridge. Such a great feature in BMS.
@RedKiteRender5 жыл бұрын
No worries Fones, Sorry if you felt that came off as a little misleading, in my mind we're pretty much setting the programs on the 'ground' by doing this. :) It's the only workaround we've got until the data cartridge comes along!

Use JSGME to install and uninstall mods for updates, no need to manually copy and paste after every update.
@RedKiteRender5 жыл бұрын
If you're familiar with JSGME go for it. Myself i prefer the manual way, its not much work and saves dealing with another piece of software, there's also a handful of programs that do this but they're often limited to one aircraft. Teach a man to fish and they can teach JSGME to fish for them sort of situation.

DCS has a repair function build into the updater to restore files if you've not taken the precaution to back them up before editing.
