Very easy to sit back and let old content just collect views but much harder to sit down and refine and improve to provide people better guides so props.

The F-5 is still one of my favorite planes to fly and after four years, I decided to remake this F-5 tutorial for all you fine people out there. Expect some more updated tutorials to come soon. Enjoy! Can't believe I forgot this! Trim settings for takeoff. No gun ammo & no stores: 6 Drop tanks + gun ammo + missiles: 7 Drop tanks + gun ammo + missiles + bombs + rockets: 8 Gun ammo + missiles + bombs + rockets + containers: 9

You have a gift, explaining things in such a direct and simple way .. .love your tutorials, and they can be enjoyed not just by the MP fans, but also are enjoyable to SP users as well. Its been a long while since I last flew the F-5E, hopefully I will be able to return to it soon.

I used to get shot down so often that it got to the point I would be starting the number 2 engine using bleed air from engine 1 during the taxi and most of the cockpit setup was during the climb-out. I had getting my target drone F-5 back in the air down to a science lol

Hey Tricker - Fabulous primer on getting started in this aircraft, starting with classroom work and then the procedures trainer. Just like Type school. I saw on your Twitter page you are an A320 pilot. My company is converting Airbus A320 and A321s from passenger to freighters. C Cubed Aerospace. I have converted to being a huge fan of Airbus narrowbody aircraft. Even though no two airframes seem to be built in the same configuration. Thank you for taking the time to publish these types of training vids for DCS immersion. I am building an F/A-18C simpit in my rare spare time. There are amazing resources to start and finish a simpit to bring authentic experiences, minus the G's. It just takes money.

You can also start the right engine using crossbleed from the left intake. I usually do it during the taxi (left engine needs to be >70% RPM) which saves a few seconds compared to starting both stationary.
@TrickerDCS2 жыл бұрын
Yep you sure can! I haven’t done this in awhile
@FPlywood2 жыл бұрын
Mind blown. My startup ritual is to disconnect air after left start, start re-arming and doing my cockpit flow of switches, then cross-bleeding the right engine as the last step before taxi. I never thought of trying it while already rolling.

Just started learning the F5 so I am glad that you have updated your video. Are you planning to update any other F5 videos? Having a little trouble locating servers that use the F5 that also allows exporting the pit to a second screen. Enigma does not allow the use of Ikarus.

Awesome tutorial. Your quick startup sequence really saves a lot of time. I'm wondering, is it faster to rearm before or after the engine start? Any tips to optimize that?

You can start the left engine only,, then go straight for rearm refuel, and you can start the second engine later on, without the parkgroup, spooling up the left engine, like while taxing.

Yep you sure can, I just think this is easier

something I've only lately discovered is the `_OFF` binds and making my airbrakes extend only while I hold a button. Bind "airbrakes extend" to `JOY_BTN6`, and "airbrakes retract" to `JOY_BTN6_OFF`. They'll extend while you hold the button and retract when you let go!

I have this issue a bit with any new aircraft, especially my first plane. I only have a basic thrustmaster 16000m stick and throttle hotas and I dont have enough buttons. Id love some guidance on whats the most important to have, with others being delegated to keyboard presses.
@markphaneuf31 Жыл бұрын
So I decided to take the plunge and downloaded DCS, got a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and decided on the F5 TigerII as my first module. All I have done is watch and read. I have not even tried to fly yet. I have to admit, I am completely intimidated. I was wondering if there is a “common” HOTAS setup that I can use?

Really looking forward to this series. I find the F-5 to be the most difficult aircraft in the game to hit anything with, I have better results even against BMP-1s when flying the Fw-190A8 than in the F-5. At some point can you cover how to get the TACAN to work? It seems really inconsistent for me.
@TrickerDCS2 жыл бұрын
The TACAN seems to be a lost cause for me, it rarely works so I kind of given up on it lol

@@TrickerDCS It stinks the ADF isn't on the same wavelength as the Caucasus' NDBs either. Looking forward to you explaining the bombing/rocket attack tables. I'm better off with the FW190's bombing by feel than using the F5's depressible gunsight :(

Thanks for mentioning the TACAN @Tricker . I have been banging my head trying to figure it out forever and I just thought it was me.

I have a question about the F5. If you turn off RWR and turn it on again, it doesn't work and just shows a bunch of numbers. Is there a solution to this?
@TrickerDCS2 жыл бұрын
Usually it goes thru a test and then comes online, make sure you hit the search button after powering it on
@TheSpaseDestroyeR2 жыл бұрын
What about crossfeed? Or it isn't mandatory?
@TrickerDCS2 жыл бұрын
Cross feed isn't required, that's for fuel imbalancing. You do however need to turn the auto balancing on left low after takeoff.

@@TrickerDCS isn’t that on purpose? Like emergency fuel

I am having a very annoying problem with this, for whatever reason, this module does not pick up my winwing Orion 2 f18 throttle, I’m doing everything right in the startup, but when it comes time to push forward on the throttle, nothing happens in game, the throttle works just fine on all FC3 aircraft and the f16, I don’t have to manually add any controls for the throttle to work on any of those, just works automatically, idk what controls I need to assign or what the correct button names are either, for whatever reason the throttle does move with JOY_Z on the throttle, in the settings it’s assigned to “Thrust” can anyone help me?
@cinnamontoast9999 Жыл бұрын
Never mind I just figured it out, I had to set the right and left thrust in the axis controls, they were both empty for the F5 by default I guess, Left thrust to JOY_RY, Right thrust to JOY_RX, maybe this’ll help someone else someday
