As far as I know the Mach meter only goes to 2.8 and it's marked at 2.35M which is the maximum cruise, everything above that is a dash speed. According to Belyenko the management issues were known to occur above 2.5M and said special permission was required to go faster. The MiG25 was given a structural speed restriction by Mikoyan OKB at 2.8M specifically because the windscreen frame and some external features started melting, but in addition to this very few pilots according to Belyenko were able to manage the engines correctly as the management system didn't do well above 2.5M, but it was fine below that speed. Given that an RB model demonstrated 2.8M whilst carrying 2 tons of bombs externally it is reasonable to expect the 1972 incident where Israeli ground stations tracked a MiG25 reaching speeds as high as 3.2M whilst evading F4 Phantoms attempting to intercept it. Belyenko said its engines had been completely destroyed during the flight and the aircraft was scrapped when it landed in Egypt, the speed run was uncontrolled by the pilot and he had only intended the maximum 2.8M combat escape speed. It's worth mentioning the interceptor variant had simpler versions of those engines with less thrust, and the later PD/PDF variants were the ones that shared the RB engines. This was the fastest corroborated speed of a MiG25, whilst there are some other claims of higher ones which are extremely unlikely. Even the stripped out and modified speed record prototypes only managed 2.83M as best average speed over closed circuits IIRC. Still it's obviously a legendary aircraft everyone who flies a combat sim would love to pilot in a reasonably decent modelling, but the real thing is pretty nuanced and it would take a dedicated team and ton of research and welcoming sources to produce the kind detail in high fidelity it requires to be realistic.

MiG-25 max speed was limited by temperature, not thrust. Thrust wise it could easily go well over 3M but heat will literally melt many parts of the aircraft (after that flight over israel the pilot couldn't open the canopy and it had to be cut off, insulation just melted and glued it on)

that 3.2 mach speed was also in a dive. ive not heard about the engines being destroyed (and also an indian mig 25 pilot in an interview said they didn’t have any issues with engines so maybe this wasn’t an issue with later variants after belyenkos time) the blackbird was limited by temperature in the same way and also needed permission to reach its max speed. although the cruise speed was much higher

It's not a sim though. It's a mod. and one that is based on basic flight model data using the FC3 F-15 avionics for the radar. It's a promising mod, but thinking of it as a simulation of the Mig-25 is a false pretense.

You know, I built myself an insane $4k gaming rig last year, complete with a high end VR headset (Pimax crystal) and so far I’ve done a ton of sim racing, flight sim 2020, and Il2 and a bit of war thunder (love the plane models, hate the grind though so I never really get into WT that hard). The one sim I’ve never really gone all out into is DCS. It’s funny because I’ve had it installed since I built the thing too, it’s just that I’ve never gotten around to setting up all the HOTAS profiles, getting the VR to cooperate, and then finally getting around to learning how to properly fly the planes in there. Seeing that someone’s is developing one of my all-time favorite combat aircraft (might I mention that the MiG 25 really doesn’t get much love in flight sims games at all, everyone loves going straight to the Foxhound instead. I’m looking at you Project Aces and WT) will be what finally gets me going all in on DCS. I very much look forward to flying this 😎

It's just 2 huge engines with a radar....its a hunk of junk. Cockpit looks like flight sim 95

@@RogueKnight423 yeah it could look better i have to agree with you. Although this is the first public release and it will be improved both texture wise and model wise so expect improvement. This is also my first mod to be released publicly and i'm not at all an expert but hey i'm trying

@@RogueKnight423 mig31 is on the list of planned aircraft for the future. Idk when i'll start working on it but if no one else does then i will in the future. Hopefully i'll have aquired more knowledge from making this mig 25 and it will be even better !
