2:22 "I know a lot of you have probably already seen this." 100% true, but the amount of people who leave DCS for months at a time to come back and have forgotten completely how to do it, a brief tutorial is always really handy. If this was just 2 weeks™ ago, your 20 minute video would have saved me almost an hour trying to explain to someone through trial and error as I hadn't used it for months. Thanks Bogey Dope for everything you do.

Hey Bogey Dope. Great video. I have a comment though. Our virtual squadron actually places our configuration mods folders right inside the saved games folder. So for example, the root configuration will have a folder labelled _rootmods in the saved games folder. Likewise the saved games configuration will have _savedgamemods in the saved games folder. DCS will just ignore those folders at load time. In our opinion it keeps everything in one nice place to keep all the data.

Directory Structure!!! That was my problem! OVGME never worked for me, but only now do I realized I just copied pasted modes into a DCS Mods folder after the fact without duplicating the directory structure.

Good video. Thank you! I hope more people will restructure their mods to be compatible to OvGME out of the box. I would sugest to use two mods folders. One for all Mods which must be placed in the main dcs folder and another one for all saved game mods. So you don't need to think about it, if you want to disable and enable all mods for error analysis.

Very good suggestion! That makes it much harder to get confused on what goes where.

Thank you again for everything you do on this channel and for us DCS pilots. Especially all the F-16C hard cases 😉 keep it up Bogey I couldn’t do what I do without you. This ovgme thing, great vid well presented but I can’t understand it. I’ve read the transcript over and over done everything you instruct to do, but can I get it to work 🤷🏻♂️ I’m 62 so it maybe me but I seem to lose the plot and the mods etc when trying to move them 🤦♂️. Is there a way of tidying up all the errors that I have done and the lost mods,also is there a way of putting the mods already used in ovgme. Sorry to seem like a downer but it seems to be beyond me or I’m missing 😊something, Great tutorials by the way, the way you put them across seems to just soak in with your calm quite demeanour. Keep it up Kid 👍

I can't find your video on how to use OVMGE to install mods into the DCS main roots. For mods that must be installed there to work.

Great vid. I knitted this is a bit of a late reaction on an older vid, but I do have a question: I’ve been dealing with performance issues, and some people reacted on the number of mods I’m running. Soo I am curious if the use of ovgme is going to help performance by cutting out mods I don’t need for a particular session. Do you think that’s the case, or do you think it’s not going to matter? Also, can I just move my mods over to an ovgme folder? Honestly I don’t really recall if any were installed in the main directory, or where files might be.
@BogeyDope8 ай бұрын
Ovgme is not going to effect performance in any way. It is simply a mod manager. The mods you have installed can effect performance, but without knowing what you have installed, I wouldn't be able to tell you. As for the folder/mod locations. I don't know your system, so I can't really answer that. I can only stand by the setup and folder structure outlined in this video. You can customize your folder structure any way you like, as long as the files end up where they're supposed to.

Hey do I use this process to install the Caucasus redone?
@BogeyDope Жыл бұрын
Yes. The exact same procedure. In fact, I believe the Caucuses redo file comes already structured in a way, that you can just put it in your mods folder and be done.

This is an extremely helpful tutorial, I'm new to adding mods to DCS so this helps me very much. Question, where could I find an aircraft mod for a "Sikorsky SH-3 Sea King"... Only one I can find will not work, think maybe because its an AI mod.

I use OvGMe for my Core mods and Saved Game mods, but I would like to ask why your Liveries? I just put all my Liveries in the Liveries folder under saved games. It's probably 95GB worth. Should I not do that and if so why. Thanks for all your vids. Your F-16 vids have helped me a ton!
@BogeyDope11 ай бұрын
Thank you. I appreciate that. For OvGME, there is no real benefit to Liveries. I do this because I have multiple versions of DCS that I work with here and there, and this way I only have to edit a single livery folder, and then enable it in OvGME for the one I want.

Hey man! How can we delete a mod profile? Thanks!
@BogeyDope6 ай бұрын
In OvGME? You'll have to click on the mod in OvGME, click "Disable" (This will remove it from DCS) Then you can right click on the mod profile in OvGME and click "Delete". That will delete it in OvGME.
@blackfalco336 ай бұрын
@@BogeyDope hey man thanks for ur fast answer. Actually I found out in order to remove a mod profile you have to go on "config" and then "remove current"
@BogeyDope6 ай бұрын
@@blackfalco33 Oh, yeah that's to remove the entire configuration and all mod profiles.
@blackfalco336 ай бұрын
@@BogeyDope no first you select a profile then if you go to "remove current" it will only remove the "current" selected :) i mean, at least thats how my ovgme works xD

Does this work with the Steam App ? cheers brother
@BogeyDope7 ай бұрын
Yes, it just moves files to where you tell it to move them. Technically this will work with any application. You just need to tell it where the files are and where you need them to go. For Steam, I believe the file locations are different, so as long as you configure it to send it to the Steam location of DCS, then you're good to go.

I actually don't see the need for this software. Installing mods is mostly absolutely straightforward, in most cases you just unzip the file into the respective DCS-folder and that's it. The downside of this software is that you need double the space for your mods, since it simply copies the files from your mods-folder. Linking to this folder would be much more elegant and economic (as it is done by similar tools for MSFS). Anyway, if you have lots of space on your machine's SSDs and often enable or disable mods (I don't do that, since I've had almost no mod-related problems in DCS, but I'm quite picky with mods) this tool may come in handy.
