DCS VR 4K | F/A-18C | 4YA Syria | It's JDAM Time! - Part II

We're back with Part II of It's JDAM Time! We captured the enemy airbase at Rene Mouawad and landed to refuel and rearm. Now we have our sights set on the enemy airbase just south of us on the coast. A large number of friendly aircraft are headed to that base to destroy the enemy and capture the base.

@@StrIIker-TV Ahh so kind man & always much appreciated Strikes. Just finished a couple of cool F/A-18C missions I'm about to post & record soon. One is an epic 2 hr Sortie (Operation Sun God) & the other is a much shorter 35 - 40 min mission (Mav Strike in Sinai). Posting soon so stay tuned & stay warm brother, we've had some 40 degree Celsius stinkers down here man, phew! Thanks again for your support & I gotta learn me that Marker technique you were displaying but I never tried it before with Hornet, only back in my ole A-10C Warthog days. Talk soon brother 😉👍🙏

Hi...Great video! Question about the Varjo headset....I use the Reverb G2,which is a great headset but while the cockpit view is very clear, I always see a 'haziness' view outside the cockpit when looking into the distance...on any map. Is the Varjo clear in that respect or does it also show that 'haziness' effect? Thank you...

Hi and thanks! I think the best way to understand what you will see in the Varjo is to look anywhere in the G2 but focus only on that sweet spot. I know this is difficult for distant viewing because it's not as simple as looking at a display in the cockpit to read something. It's difficult to say with certainty what you are experiencing. The scenery in the Varjo is very clear and sharp. The entirety of my focal view (the area directly around the spot focus I am looking at) is clear. Peripheral views outside of that focus are obviously difficult to tell because it is inherently "blurry" because of how our vision works (this is why Dynamic Foveated Rendering rocks by lowering the rendered resolution of the peripheral thus freeing up processing etc for the focus area and general DCS engine stuff for better frame times). Having said all of that, there are atmospheric haziness effects but that depends upon a few factors (map, weather, etc). This MAY be what you are experiencing but I tend to think it's actually an effect of the fresnel lens in the G2. Perhaps I should have just said that what you see in the videos is very close to what I see in the headset. The videos can be a little sharper and crisp especially when viewed on a 4k TV (I was shocked at how good it looks on that). Remember that the videos are not actual output from the headset but are recordings of the game window which is essentially what you see flying on a flat screen. Sometimes the rendered view in this game window is actually worse that what I see in the headset mainly due to how dynamic foveated rendering works and how the output to the game window is actually the lower resolution or peripheral view from the headset. I am very happy that I upgraded from the G2 which I really loved (and still have but never use). I used to be jealous of how great flat screen content looks but not any more because what I experience in the Varjo headset is pretty close (you just need a beefy system to run it at high settings and get acceptable frame times). It was a very worthwhile investment and I could not go back.

Thank you for the detailed reply...I tend to agree with you that the haziness I see is just the freznel lenses too. Ive tried different maps and weather settings but the haziness is always there to some degree in the distance viewing....never what I would call clear....but that being said, the G2 is still the best visuals overall of any headset Ive had yet....Occulus,Pimax 5k, G1, and G2 so far. Sounds like your very happy with the Varjo....it will probly be my next. ...then there is that motion simulator....lol...expensive hobby....Fargo

@@fargo3620 Glad to have helped ya! Yeah, the G2's clarity is great! It was not until I bought a G2 that I started flying DCS in VR. I tried before using my original gen GTC Vive and gave up quite quickly as I could not read anything in the cockpit. Moving from the G2 to the Aero was quite amazing. It was just very cool to see everything super clear like the spot on the G2. Yeah, the motion simulator is on my some day.. wish list because I know it's going to be a while. There's that minor issue of a pile of money needed.. :P
