This video is 5 years old and I still come back to watch it from time to time, even though I still haven't come around to buying the Viggen. Somehow you manage to make watching this video so enjoyable that I don't even feel the need to buy a new module afterwards. Thank you and take care

@@JiveDilletante By all means, please do! I commented when I was just looking the video back up to share with a friend that knows nothing about planes but asked 'what do they use that one for, whats so special about it?' when I mentioned the Viggen offhand and she came away saying she wants a ride in one, haha. Even if the Tomcat wasn't another favorite of mine, it would be great to see more like this. Plus hard to beat the timing with the new Top Gun coming out and a Tomcat Cameo, y'know?

why i will like the viggen is because now, for the fist time in DCS, we can do high speed, low altitude and dangerous popup style attacks like that from falcon BMS. never before could you do mission where you penetrate the enemy airspace at mach 1, doge SAM's and do cool maneuvers, pop up to see tracers are all ready flying at you and then bomb the shit out of the target. that was my favorite thing to do in BMS, and now that i will soon do the same type of mission in dcs is fantastic .

Fun fact: At full afterburner, viggen could kill a guy instanty as far as 50m behind the aircraft. The Viggen had a good acceleration from stand still but it was at higher speeds (700kmh or above) the acceleration was really superb, due to the higher amunt of air flowing into the inlets...

Viggin is spectacular I love it for low and fast ground target missions. However since the release of the F/A 18C I have not spend much time in it. The pure amount of firepower both ground and air the F/A 18 brings to a fight is just so powerful, and those new Aim 9X's are dirty with that helmet cam.

Viggen is the Western side Su-25T by many ways, slightly better by its speed and capability to carry RB75 by its Fire-and-Forget capabilities, but then again it is so limited by many ways compared to Su-25T. It is just ultra cool aircraft to fly, a very special one and adds so much to the DCS. Just we now need to wait to see that ED will improve a lot of AI reaction times, aiming, logic. And then will add simulation to radar, chaff, flares, IFF etc. As now the Viggen (as every other CAS or other Strike Aircraft) are seriously handicapped by ground forces not being simulated at all.

One thing, though; The Viggen could quite comfortably take off and land on a 300m straight road. The 500m (not sure where you got 600m from) take-off/landing was for peacetime conditions with all the added safety, but if war had come 300m would suffice.

The Viggen was a truly excellent aircraft for the Swedes. Perfectly tailored for their needs and operational requirements--which is also one of the main reasons it did not sell to other countries as few, if any other countries have the unique set of needs Sweeden does and thus what they need from any fighter/intercepor aircraft. I personally cant think of any other country that has simlar operational realities and possible future challanges, based on where they are physically in Europe, and who their boogermen might be now and in the future that would dictate how they would be forced to fight in any war defending their Soverienty and freedom as well as territory and citizens that in turn directly determines any capabilities and to a large extent even the look of any Fighter/Interceptor they put into service. The Viggen has served the Swedes long and well.and for its time was counted amoung the best of its kind in the world as a sheer interceptor in the vein of the MIG 21, MIG 25 and NATO/American (Flown be Sweedens Neighbor Germany for many years during the Cold war as the Starfighter and Viggen both were such excellent aircraft designed by geniuses--in Americas case the increadible and famous Kelly and his equally famous SkunkWorks, and both designs go beyond the limits of straight interceptor like the Soviet MIGs 21 and 25. F104 StarFighter and Viggen could fly profiles far beyond the interceptor profile and poke its little nose into the Air Superiority, Air to Mud CAS or Close Air Support, Anti Ship fun stuff for the Viggen while the 104 isnt as capable admittedly but very far from a slouch ramp queen like the M1IG 25 turned out to be (Sad too as the 25 was suprisingly a beautiful aircraft. The Soviets have created some of the ugliest things ever to fly as we all know. Many designs looked as if they were forcing the air around them to give them support through violence and fraud where most western designs looked more like a gracefull creature of the air working with it sailing with and through it an act of natural cooperation and beauty. Perhaps considering Stalin--the worlds most prolific mass murderer, master of violence and physcological and physical terror, friend to none liar to all, and general all around common criminal and shit wrapped skin thug. Putin the same type of wonderful person with the exception he hasnt murdered and tortured AS MANY innocent men, women, and children stupid enpugh to have trusted him...yet. But for some strange reason thats the type of "Human" Russians chhose to love trust and choose to lead them throughout their history right to current times. Continually rejecting freedom, freedom of choice location and speech, trade ect in favour of dictator common criminals who murder them and their children at even the aquisation of a wrong word passing their lips. So ugly stupid criminal murderer leaders and obviously stupid people. Makes sense that the things they make would be just as ugly. Crap quality clumsy and out of step with normal human beings of the restvof the entire universe.

Viggen got locks when chasing SR-71 Blackbirds close to Swedish airspace during the cold war in the stratosphere. It was extremely good for its time. The elite pilots always practiced for war time conditions back then, at least the veterans. Many died. A very fearsome airforce back then. Viggen always start car alarms during air shows. What a beast. It could do anything.

I just bought this yesterday and so far have noticed that the training missions are too few. Only 4 weapon systems and basic startup sequence? And now I'm wondering, how did you even see a target in that night time shot? Does this thing have any night vision capabilities? I also noticed that it appears I have two A2A missiles in some training, but I have no idea how to use them. Guess I'd better rtfm... But I didn't see anything about any thermal cameras in the table of contents. Still a fun plane to go fast in. This thing almost flies itself.
