Excellent work as always! Yet, I am always amazed at how many people comment/complain about the aircraft being the wrong model number, the wrong armament, wrong ejection seats and wrong ships, etc... Especially after you clearly explain this in every single video. Pay attention before being so quick to criticize and correct.
@showtime1123 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It seems that most criticism comes from misunderstanding. Some don't even realize it's a simulation and maybe think I'm using some kind of 3D animation software. That would probably take a year to do a single video 😁 Others think that a simulation can have all the aircraft, ships, vehicles etc in every variant that existed. It would take a century to make such a simulation 😂

Yo !!! From a USN vet. A little work on your research. Ticonderoga Crusers weren't used during the Vietnam war. They were first commissioned in 1978.The Long Beach was nuclear powered built on a WW2 cruiser hull. I knew a retired USN commander that served on the Long Beach in the Gulf of Tonkin. The Long Beach had shot down several Migs with Talos Rim 8 missiles. The USN Commander was the weaps officer and was part of those shootdown. Also the part that NVA had mutual respect for Pilots and Aviators who were shot down and were guest at the Hanoi Hilton if you watch the footage and interviews I dont think NVA had mutual respect for the POWS captured during Vietnam. Please take a break from gaming and CNN, read some history books....
@showtime1123 жыл бұрын
You probably mean well with this comment but my advice to you would be to pay attention instead of making quick criticism. At 8:08 I clearly explain that there are some inaccuracies here because of the lack of assets in DCS World and that such cases needed to be approximated with available assets. I specifically mention the Long Beach. And I am perfectly aware that Ticonderoga only came later but that's literally the only US cruiser in the game. People don't understand how complicated it is to develop a model. Aircraft modules such as MiG-21 here may take more than 10.000 man hours and more than a million dollars to develop! And as the result, we will never have a simulation that has all the aircraft, ships, tanks etc. As for the mutual respect thing, again you misunderstood. I know that during the war, American POWs weren't exactly getting the Geneva Convention treatment. I was talking instead about the meetings between American pilots (some of them ex POWs) and the Vietnamese pilots that took place decades after the War. I read the accounts of these meetings form several American veterans and my impression was that there wasn't any hate or resentment from either side. That's what I was talking about.

Sorry. I endured about 30 seconds of this cheesy background music and lost any interest in seeing how this turns out. Either narrate these videos, or just leave the game sounds in and be done with it. If you need bad music to generate interest, maybe you don't need to make the video in the first place?
@showtime1123 жыл бұрын
Well, thank you for your opinion. I don't think the music is cheesy. Is it as good as the original from the period? No. But originals can't be used because of copyright. The idea is to make introductions cinematic. And I don't think movies are ever made without any music, right? To me (and probably the majority of people in the West), the soundtrack of Vietnam is hard rock. That's why I think it fits, regardless of anybody's personal taste. Videos have time stamps so you can easily skip the introduction and go straight to narration if you hate it that much.

@@showtime112 Well, the music was so poor that I never got to discover any "narration". Gentlemen and seriously, the US Navy spent a lot of money on ammunition and fuel to destroy it with an old truck??? Does military intelligence assume that the destruction of this important military target would induce North Vietnam to surrender?
@showtime1122 жыл бұрын
Not all the missions end up exactly as planned. Plus, there were so many patrols, protection of high-value assets etc which burned a lot of fuel and aircraft resources. Highly effective missions are not that easy to do.

Enjoy your episodes in general, but if you could, would you please omit the heavy metal music for the American side. It is a bit comical even, having nothing to do with those times, which were anything but comical. Thank you.
@showtime1123 жыл бұрын
Hm. It's a bit like saying that swing music has nothing to do with WWII. And more precisely, it's hard rock, not heavy metal. I'd really, really say it has a lot to do with the times. This genre completely defines the early 70s. Sure, this song is not nearly as good as Hendrix, Zeppelin, Deep Purple or Sabbath but those are all copyrighted. It is still loud and dramatic (just like fighter jets) and it evokes the era. I know because that's ,my favorite period in music.
@michaelboehm3913 жыл бұрын
You are flying an E model F-4…US Navy never used them, plus the US ship shown is a Ticonderoga class cruiser which didn’t exist in 1972.

Why is the cockpit black?
@showtime1123 жыл бұрын
It's a mod. According to photos I saw, the PFM version had a black cockpit so I used it to represent it more closely.
@rossmum3 жыл бұрын
PFM cockpits varied between either the blue-grey cockpit + black instrument panel of other early Soviet jets, or the more iconic turquoise. The MiG-19's cockpit is a pretty good template for earlier colouration although the main colour could range from very pale blue to almost a medium grey.
@showtime1123 жыл бұрын
@@rossmum There's a photo of a Vietnamese PFM cockpit in Toperczer's book that shows black instrument panel so that one seemed the closest.
