Cali76>M-EQ>Halcyon>DCX Boost>Kingsley drive pedals…sounds insanely good. All of these pedals play extremely well together. I mean how can you go wrong having a Pultec, 1176, 610 and rock solid expanded Screamer on yer pedalboard!! Combining them and hitting the Halcyon or tube pedals is so much fun and produces tones that sound more like a studio guitar amp recording chain than just pedals into an amp…you can hear (and feel) frequencies/harmonic content that sound like those classic album tones we all love. It’s all there, you just have to spend time experimenting with stacking and tweaking. Great stuff Origin!

You guys have so many good products. Already own the Cali 76 and Magnatone. Now wrestling between the Deluxe 61, DCX or EQ. Have a great amp, with great sparkling cleans. Want something to push into edge of breakup territory. The dynamics on your pedals are insane. Appreciate a nudge: as to my next origin purchase. They all sound great, no chance to try any locally.

​@@r.v.9005 In EQ mode, the pedal is designed to act similarly to a UA 610, albeit with changes we believe are useful for guitarists. We're sure the MAX is a great pedal, but fundamentally they're two different approaches to the 610 sound and offer vastly different features, user experiences and tonal palette. And that's outside of the fact one is a digital emulation, one is all analogue. I'm sure those who get the MAX will have a fantastic time, as will those who go for the DCX. Chances are, the users of each are looking to achieve and hear different things from their pedals.

The sag has very interesting note decay at higher gain settings. It's very very "reminescent" on something, but unfortunately I can't put my hands on what. 😊 Good luck!

What frequencies are the high and low actually set at?

The EQ curves are incredibly board. The center point is around 40Hz for the L.F. 3.7k for the H.F, but they boost/cut a wide band of frequencies around them. Think rolling hills, not peaky mountains.

Is it acting like a compressor, but with control over whether it affects low and/or high frequencies? I have the Cali76 Stacked and that sounds great.

The DCX BOOST isn't a compressor circuit, any "compression" you're hearing is the nature of the drive characterists.

I'm not sure if the original UA610 used audio transformers on the inputs and outputs but it would have been nice to have drive controls for the inputs and outputs for each audio transformer to drive the audio transformers into saturations regions and compression regions. When you drive an audio transformers it should give that midrange growl tone

The DCX doesn't utilise any transformers, our Mid-Boosty pedal that for mid-range growl is the M-EQ DRIVER, inspired by the Pultec EQP-1a

That adaptive technology sounds an awful lot like a standard bright cap on a volume pot..

Conceptially, guitarists could think of it somewhat like that. However the details of how it responds, the EQ curve being applied, the interaction and mechanism for it working is quite far removed from that idea.

This is the nearly the exact same design as the pettyjohn lift pedal from ages ago

Can't say I'm familar with the 'Lift", though a short look would suggest they're based on quite different ideas circuit wise. I guess there's only so many ways to label knobs and switches on pedals.

Mine arrives tomorrow, so would DCX Boost go at the front of my FX chain or at the end of the chain. Or anywhere else within the chain for best use. I have 6 Origin pedals already in my chain, overkill, I know. 🤔😃 I'm experimenting with said pedals to see which work best together or solo. Cheers bud.😉

I have mine in this order…Cali76>M-EQ>Halcyon>DCX Boost>Handful of Kingsley tube pedals…sounds killer in both EQ and Drive modes. Had it at the end of the chain too, which is great as a final EQ but I didn’t like it as much there…sounds much better up the chain. I’m going to try it right after the Cali76 too.
