congrats, this is a comprehensive video, finally. There are a lot of vids without no real info.

Nice tips man! those are also valid for X-T10, except my focus assist button is the click of the rear dial (where you zoom in pics) everything else is the same. Oh, and X-T10 doesn't magnify the focus area automatically on MF mode (not that i know of)... i have to click on the dial.

"Good description and nice video Damien ....", Waiting for a D300s follow up, I am thinking about buying this camera or a Nikon D7100 as a second body. The split screen focus is interesting for macro tabletop work.

For some users the auto magnification could be irritating. If you want to turn it off do the following: Go to the first setup menu (blue/spanner 1), then "Screen Setup", then "Focus Check" (it's on the second screen so you need to scroll down a bit). Set to off and you're all set.

Thanks Rikaby. I was just going to ask Damien how to do just that... Et merci à Damien pour ces tips. Ils sont très appréciés...

Thanks... that's what I came here for. I can't believe it's on the "screen setup" menu. One annoying thing with digital (and a blessing too sometimes) is how many freaking menu options their are... I wish You could delete the ones you never in your life will use (or in this case switch that feature under "focus settings"). I've been shooting a lot of film these days and my olympus OM-1 has 3 options, Aperture, Shutter, and ISO... with a couple other bonuses like, timer (which I never use), mirror lock up (which I never use but nice to have), annnnd? I guess that's it. Been getting great results so far. (flash capability, which I never use, but like flash sometimes for a certain look). Thanks again.

What will the bright sunny sky look at F5.6, iso200 at 1/32000 shutter speed? Will the clouds be overexposed, do they fit in dynamic range? How flexible is the dynamic range bracketing when i know i want one end to be F5.6, iso200 at 1/32000?

For the split screen focus, can I use other lenses besides Fujinon?

Can you manual-focus at full aperture (e.g. f/1.4) and shoot at another aperture value (e.g. f/11)?

You mentioned the Fujifilm X-T2 several; times. i thought it hadn't yet been released even in March of 2016

He's saying XE--2, not X-T2. I thought the same thing.

Nice mirrorless, it is Chopper :). Do you have sold the D800?
@PatitoDiAnime10 жыл бұрын
I am focused on DSLR now, i like mirrorless and fuji is very interesting. I use D800 with Sigma 35mm 1.4 and Nikkor 85mm 1.4g. I would use a Fuji X-E2 for street, i like the genre. Anyway I think also that the quality of DSLR and the dynamic range is undefeated. The real reason is that I want to bring my camera everywhere :).

Can the split image focus area move around other than focusing only in the center area?
@BartenderX10 жыл бұрын
Just curious because it would be nice to have, what if the subject wasn't in the center frame?...If I was shooting portraits for example. Focus peaking can be used in either case.
@BartenderX10 жыл бұрын
Perfect, I'm thinking of getting the newer 18-135mm OIS WR lens along with the X-T1. I understand prime lenses are better for image quality but I do need a contemporary all in one lens for now. It does look like an awesome camera.
@BartenderX10 жыл бұрын
***** Thanks Damien, The reason why I asked was because I own a Nikkor 50mm 1.8 which has an aperture ring. Using only manual focus, I was able to use this lens along with an adapter for portraits. I'll have to save up for the fujinon 56mm but I'm getting my practice in focusing manually.
