Sadly, a lot of the vets that made it home are now at that age that time is taking them. Some say the youngest average American Vietnam vet is 60 years old. Of the 2,709,918 Americans that served approximately 850,000 are alive today. Many of the younger generation don’t know anything about the war. My dad and mom were in the Navy during World War II. They would be 102 and 101 years old today.

I'm 56. I was 7 when the Vietnam War ended. I would say that the younger Vietnam Veterans are in their early 70s.

Cant believe how many Oscars given out and a golden globe. Also rated the most real Vietnam war movie. It was recognized more then Platoon. For the younger generations when the movie Platoon is brought up they mistake it for this movie.Oliver stone couldn't get Micheal Dudikof (spelled wrong) to star in Platoon so the used Charlie Sheen and it was the biggest upset for Oli. But Micheal was riding on his high horse for all those extreme realistic ninja movies American ninja 1-8
