This is an excellent video!! I just 'helped' my boyfriend with this project today as we follow your instructions on your website as well as this video. We saved a lot of money by doing this ourselves. Thank you! 😊

So, You assembled a 90* curve.....but how does that equate to a high lift door?? I have the same thing already installed on my normal lift door.
@DDMGarageDoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Eric! That 90 degree curve is already on almost all residential doors. It's the radius that comes from the horizontal track on a garage door. When we assemble kits here, we have some pre-cut radius' that we use to help us assemble the kit properly, so that we can line up the customer's radius with their track extension.

Do you have thoes broken cable saftey things that kerp the door from crashing down if the cable snaps?
@DDMGarageDoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Ham549! Yes, we do sell tools like that, such as vice grips and cable pullers that will help keep you safe when working on a door.

Do you need a jackshaft opener for a high lift garage door?
@DDMGarageDoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Joey! Yes, you do need a jackshaft opener of some kind. A regular opener cannot lift the door properly after you've done this conversion.

I bought this kit. The longer of the two brackets that you start with (connecting the 90 and straight piece) is that length always a set standard length? Regardless of how tall your ceiling or how high you’re raising the door? It’s between 5-6” then the opposite end of the straight piece you line up with your existing vertical track I got that...it just seems to be sticking out awfully far on the top. My straight piece I added measured 50 1/2”. So once I throw a 12” 90 on it we’re talking 72 inches total length. From the start I’m at 2 3/4” off the wall and at the top I’m pushing 6” off the wall. Is that a standard normal length? Or should it be customized to each specific door? I followed the video to the T. Thank you

Hi dmesz311! This bracket isn't a standard length, and for these kits, we don't just sell standard lengths, but we calculate this kit out for each person's individual door. So, in our estimation, it needs to be customized to each specific door. We have a form on our website for customers to put in the information that we need (diygaragedoor.com/parts/high-lift/custom-garage-door-high-lift-conversion-kit-quote.php).

Is there automatic assembly system for rails ?
@DDMGarageDoors5 жыл бұрын
Hi Marek! When someone buys the kit from us, we do offer a preassembly of the track extension that we show here in the video (the extra track parts, minus the radius portion) for an extra charge.

Great job NOT ACTUALLY SHOWING THE HIGH LIFT SETUP.
@DDMGarageDoors4 жыл бұрын
Hi sprtplt: this video is not supposed to show the high lift setup. The intention of this video is to show how to assemble the track extensions so that they can then be installed on the door. Please refer to our written tutorial on high lifts: ddmgaragedoors.com/diy-instructions/garage-door-high-lift-conversion.php
