I met DDP at Motor City Comic Con last year in May. I was about two weeks post-college graduated and jobless. Now that might not seem too bad, but by that time, I had applied to over 100 jobs since that January with only ONE nibble. I met him when I was really starting to question if I majored in the right thing or if i was worth anything in the adult world. I told him what I was going through and he said "you gotta wake up every day with a goal in your mind and do not stop or be satisfied with less." I literally cried when he was telling me this. The positivity was overwhelming. A month later, I finally landed a job with my industry and haven't looked back. He is as great as you would think he is.

Wow, seeing Jake Roberts admit to the interviewer that he is afraid he will hurt him and genuinely show fear is a big eye opener to what these guys go through. It adds credence to a very true saying: "It's the weak who are cruel, gentleness is to be expected only from the strong."

@indiesongwriter54745 жыл бұрын
Jake's admission that he puts on a mask and "plays with people's emotions" as the greatest wrestling actor of all time, is born of childhood neglect and sexual/physical trauma, followed by him admitting that he's even doing now because "I'm afraid you're going to hurt me", with him breaking down into tears and telling the interviewer that he loves and respects him and he doesn't want to do it but he can't help it, "it's just the way I am". That was one of the most emotionally moving moments I've ever seen. How many people is that true about? Survivors of trauma that put on masks that they don't want to because they are still afraid of being hurt, afraid of being abused again. What an inspiration Jake is, to be able to be so vulnerable on screen and share his self love. This is what healing looks like.

I worked as a photographer in wrestling for about 12 yrs until about 1988..I saw alot behind the scenes and got a view of what these guys go through in their lives as professional wrestlers..number one is that for most of them it's about loving the business..the high that comes from walking out of the curtain to twenty thousand or more fans has to be experienced to understand it..Unfortunately the toll of the lifestyle outside the ring and the pressure they feel not loose their spot on top drove them to unfortunate places in their lives..we're all human and we all deal with things differently and we could say they made bad choices using drugs & booze and that's true but the day to day grind of wrestling business is inhuman at times..i pray that Hall& Jake find peace and happiness in their later yrs because they deserve it for all they've been through and for all they gave to the fans & to wrestling business...lol

Diamond Dallas Page, this is an awesome documentary. You are truly a savior, bro. I've always been a huge fan of all three when y'all wrestled in the WWE & WCW. I remember when Scott Hall made an appearance on TNA and he was looking weak. But to see him in the ring with his buddy, Kevin Nash, was great and it brought back memories. As for Jake "the Snake" Roberts, I watched him begin his stardom in Mid-South back in the early 80's. I remember when he won the Louisiana championship from Larry Mantel. His career soared from then on. I first saw his downfall on the wrestling documentary, "Beyond The Mat" and it was painful to see. The help that you gave to Hall and Roberts is unmeasurable. And I say HELP because they made the 1st step to accept that help from you. Great job and I applaude all 3 of you.

i dont know if ddp will see this. that is besides the point. but i must say that seeing this touched me..big time. i grew up watching these legends every Friday and Saturday night, with my dad (a cup of tea and rich tea biscuits at the ready) these were and are and will always be heroes to me!!! they hold a special place in my heart..forever.. DIAMOND DALLACE PAGE you are an angel and maybe your really purpose on this world was for this moments! God bless you for helping and saving your fellow angels. broken people are not bad people they just need help!! what a job you are doing. JAKE THE SNAKE God bless you and i will pray a thousand times for you. that is a promise. search your heart and find the innocent you before life took away all of the innocence, now look at you...so beautiful so true, now that is the real you...the evil things people did to you fuck them..theirs only one place they are going and that is hell fire!! not you! Jake. I see you. you have a good heart. im not preaching but God knows that. I know that your fans know that. RAZOR REMON/SCOTT HALL! seeing you and hearing your story made me water up even more. you are and will always be my greatest wrestler!! so cool so slick,confident and you just looked hard lol. As a child I wasn't the most outwardly confident person i was more quite and shy. but i developed into a quietly confident being. and that, when i think about it, is because i looked up and sort inspiration from you! you was and still are every thing i want to be as a man. and what i mean by that is that you set out to achieve your goals and not only did you do that, you conquered it. life has beat you down struck you down and seeing you discuss this hit me hard because how can this happen to my heroes? the people i sort refuge in and the people i took confidence from? but i understand more than most how hard life can pound you! nor matter what your deepest darkest fears are Scott. you affected my life for the positive and that will live with me forever so i hope you take solace from that because you deserve to. and to all of the wrestlers who are in the same position and for the ones who we have lost. in my heart you will live for ever and i think i speak for the rest of the people who you have touched. some times i wonder if these legends know how much they have affected the life of so many truly appreciative individuals?? Well done DDP truly Well done. and thanks for saving my heroes and thank you my heroes for being open and accepting DDP. love you all. peace and God bless.

I know this is a few years old but I'm so happy for these guys, especially Scott. I almost cried when he gave his Hall of Fame speech. I was such a big fan of him in his heyday and I'm so proud he was able to climb out of that dark place he was in for so long.
