I just visited this museum mid-October while spending a week in Berlin. Quite nicely displayed and I wondered if they were kept operational and riden at all. It looks like MZ had just about all the types covered except large cruisers. Sad to read that they ceased production about 15 years ago. Thanks for posting.

Thank you for this nostalgia trip. I had a MZ 125, then the ETZ 250 in silver, shown in the video. They were sold by a small importer in East Bristol in the 80s. Great bikes!

MZs and Simpsons were sold officially in the UK and all around the world. They even utilised MPH speedos specifically for the UK (predominantly) and US market, so that's dedication to the export market from them.

I have been there. You forgot to mention some of the Boxer Motors were 2 Stroke.

Thank you for pointing that out. I don't know why I find that so interesting.

I was hoping to visit this museum next month (Oct 2023) having run out of time on my last visit but it is now marked as permanently closed. Does anyone with local knowledge know why, and if it is likely to re-open in the future?

Update: this museum is linked to the DDR museum and I called in there last week whilst on holiday to ask. Apparently there are no plans to reopen the Motorrad museum and the don't know what will happen to the exhibits yet. They may move them or sell them off or do something else
