I've done a very similar work on my scrambler 900, and it solves the issue of the exhaust getting way too hot. My father is about to get a 1200, but his concern is if doing that it would void the warranty of the bike. Would it?

talk to your local dealer as they are very aware of the heat problem and should be understanding as they don't have a fix. we have done this (unofficially of course )for a couple of Triumph dealers to keep customers sweet.

@@TECBikeParts What are pros and cons of removing cats on a motorcycle? Little novice in this area...:)
@TECBikeParts5 жыл бұрын
@@Spazik86 on high level pipe and some hot running sports bikes it drastically reduces the heat from the exhaust that you feel when riding the bike round town especially in summer. also improves sound and throttle response. some bikes will see a small performance improvement but not the huge amount that some de cat pipe makers claim. on some poorly designed de cat pipes I have seen the power actually drop ! So only buy from a company with good reviews.

@@TECBikeParts you are forgetting the cons: more CO, more finedust, more NOx, more CH output, so small advantage with big negatives
@TECBikeParts5 жыл бұрын
@@hanvanadrichem8202 Hi yes I know we should all try to do our bit, but it is all relative. All the bikes in the country probably don't put out the amount of CO2 that a jumbo jet does taking off or anywhere near the particulates of 1 cargo ship sailing from China. As a planet we need to sort the big things first and not tinker around the edges. The amount of pollution bikes produce compared to Air and Sea transport is minuscule.

Note catalytic converters - particularly used ones contain heavy metals and toxins - I would not want to be breathing in any grinding dust from a cat. I wouldn't go anywhere near a cat with a grinder unless I had very good breathing apparatus. Still, if you're not bothered about lung cancer then go ahead - fill your boots.

@TECBikeParts5 жыл бұрын
It's not as easy as it sounds. the only cost effective way to make the large DIA front pipes is to weld 2 bends together as some other makers have done. this looks bad. The bend is offset with a reducing tight radius and large dia. ask any tube make this is very hard to make without swagging marks or damage to the tube. Easier in 38mm DIA but not Ideal for 1200cc motor gas flow.

@@TECBikeParts No idea of the viability, but original Triumph header pipes with the cat out and your secret squirrel deflector plate in would be a welcome addition to the website.
