I can't believe how timely this video is. I'm 47 years old and I had this very unpleasant conversation with my mom last night about how I need to do everything the elders required of me.

I still 20+ years out, find myself explaining every action and even in some situations my reasons/thought process driving my actions … I’m working on it! I have to remind myself that I don’t need to do it. I’m the one who has to live with my decisions and actions and I don’t need anyone else’s approval there of.

Just discovered your channel today, why don’t you have thousands of likes? Great information. Been out for years but once in a while cognitive dissonance kicks in not because you doubt your decision but because you miss certain genuine friends you let go. Listening to this is an encouragement cementing the resolve that the decision was worth it. Edit: Oh you’re that humble Bethlite that escaped with Lloyd Evan’s Help! Refreshing.

I’m probably going to make several comments on this video. First I wish I had found the zoom option beforehand. Regarding the door to door ministry- I must have left at the right time, when we still were trained in conversation stoppers and how to actually reason with householders etc and how to not take No for an answer vs not knowing anything and just sending people to a website. I have leveraged those learnings in my professional career very well- I didn’t/don’t take No for an answer and it has served me well! I have been able to accomplish things others couldn’t because of my tenacity.

so true, hearing from JWs my whole life it was not uncommon to ask people, how old they are, how much do they make, hear of a brother or sister is in the hospital , to ask what are they in there for. I learned only decades later you don't ask them or the family unless they tell you

I love videos like this. I’m a very worldly person married to a believer and he constantly lies to me about things about his religion to me. I studied for a year I know how the JWs think. It reminds me of my narcissistic mom and I’m so triggered by so much. I love videos where it’s explained how Jehovah witnesses think vs the rest of the world and of course everyone doesn’t think alike but that’s my point. My husband thinks I need to think like him when I’m one of the most free thinking person you might ever meet. It’s wackadoo the things he says that he believes and how I need to agree …😜 thank you 🙏 keep making these videos I keep trying to wake him up and this helps me so much

5:07 “I don’t care how much of a loss I take, I don’t care how painful it will be, I will not pass this along to others.” 🎯 After dealing with soft shunning from my parents and sister - this was my thought about 10 years ago! It took a few years to get there, but that’s it exactly!! Almost 12 years out now, and still having to deal with the cult because I have family & friends still in - this is my concrete feeling. Excellent information. Excellent content. I discovered you a few years ago through Critical Thinkers! Thank you! So helpful!!
