De Staat has been cool with fans and getting their music to the fans. Torre Fleming (lead singer) seems to be a pretty chill guy. He speaks English with a NYC accent like he was born there. I am going to have to get in on a night where you can see a couple others. there are 3 more bangers and then a lot of interesting stuff. Like every band, they have their hits and their other stuff. Glad you liked it.

To answer your question: The song had been out for quite a while when the clip came out. I actually remember being at a festival where they played the song one or two years prior the release of the clip. In a Dutch interview ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6qkqpynp6efkM2d ) frontman Torre Florim told that the song itself was inspired by Dutch hardcore music from the nineties and thus, they we inspired to use elements from the Dutch nineties hardcore scene in the clip as well. When they partned with the animators of Studio Smack, they started expanding on this idea and got inspired by the "Balinese monkey chant" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/h6qkqpynp6efkM0 ) and the islamic "Sufi" dance ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/d6m2iImhhcuJmZo )

it's a music track for a cgi animation ( it won many prizes in animation festivals) but maybe i dont know if the song was first
