"I'm de-stashing my fabrics, but I'm also buying some fabric in order to destash what I already have" - the magic world of a sewist. I love it. 🤩 that leopard fabric is stunning!😍

In my imagination I have an entire room just for beautiful fabrics and trims. I reality I’ve banned myself from buying new fabrics unless I intend to sew it up immediately 😅. I thought the Poppy blouse was going to be my favourite for sure … but the trousers turned out pretty perfect! At first I pictured dungarees or a short jumpsuit when I saw the stripe. Spring has sprung!

Those trousers are awesome! Loved them and the fit was excellent. The Poppy dress …. I agree it needs a more A line or fuller skirt for movement. If it was a straight skirt it would need side slits for the movement I think 🤔 without the ruffle. But I loved the blouse, it was so adorable in that fabric and really can be worn with anything. ❤❤❤🥰

I love videos like this! It's great to see you just making things for yourself that you love. It's a shame about the Poppy dress though, I thought as you were cutting the skirt that it wouldn't be enough fabric if you needed some for the ruffles, but that's because I tend to prefer gathered skirts with an a-line shape. I've made the same mistake before in the past and realised it's not wide enough at the bottom to walk comfortably without a slit, and doesn't flow as nicely. But honestly it's great to see that even someone as skilled as you occasionally makes something that doesn't turn out the way they'd hoped. It happened to me on the weekend for the first time in a while and it's really disappointing, but we learn each time which is really important. I'm also really impressed you kind of just winged making a pair of pants and they turned out great! I've only made one pair of zip fly pants so far (Paradise Patterns Protea Pants) and they turned out alright, but they're too big because I was so scared of making them too small. I'm just working up the willpower to try again though because I would love to have a go-to pants pattern!

Absolutely, I still fail loads of times and try to show where I could have done better as much as possible. It's frustrating when it happens but as long as we take some learning away, it's the best way to improve! Glad you like the trousers - really stoked how they cam out. Thanks for watching 💜

The poppy blouse turned out so lovely, the fabric is great for the pattern! I liked how you styled the dress, I think it looks really relaxed and cute, but if it doesn't allow you to walk properly it might be better as a blouse. Maybe you can use the skirt fabric in your next de-stash video for a cute patchwork project or a summer top? Great work overall though! And I hope you feel better now! ☺

Great video. I agree about the skirt part. Make a cute little bag with the skirt material to wear with the blue top. I am actually converting a white XL men's shirt into a top like yours. I've cut it already, but now that I have seen yours, I'm going to add the back and front adjustments to it before I sew it. I'm planning to use some lace in the front. Thank you for the very opportune video.

The broderie anglaise is beautiful, and since the dress didn't quite work I agree that cutting it off to make a blouse is a good plan. What about a longer peplum to change it up a bit? Just a thought.

I adore the pants and the blouse. The poppy blouse with the original sleeves wasn't quite calling out to me, but I'd love to make one with the puff sleeves if you decide to update the pattern! I already know which fabric in my stash I'd use for it, so you'd be helping me de-stash too!

Do you ever use interfacing in trouser waistband (asking as a relative beginner, so far I've only made dresses and T shirts). The trousers you made look great, so I might try it out too (copying my favourite linen pants)

I really didn't think the ties in the front were going to be good. I thought they might show too much skin or gape. They turned out to be very cute. I might have worn them at your age. I am not sure they would work at 60. I do think both the dress and the bottom of the shirt would benefit from some shaping. A-line or circle skirt. I like the way you attached the skirt and might attach the bottom of the shirt that way also.
