Talk about coincidences - Junior and Mikey starting nose to tail for the 2000 Daytona 500 before their plate dominance began at DEI This was the last 500 before Michael Waltrip went to DEI the next year in ‘01. I never was one to complain about the two-car tandem, because as weird and lop-sided as it can be, at least it was competitive... this was the most disappointing speedweeks I've ever had the misfortune of watching. :( I think the highlight was the Bud Shootout! That was a pretty decent race among a lot of bad ones. Truck and Busch races were great, though. Sorry for the random rant. It's early. lol

And that was only the tip of the iceberg regarding the 2000 Daytona Speedweeks. The 2000 Daytona 500 a few days later turned out to be THE WORST Daytona 500 EVER in terms of the racing itself.

Aero package...they changed it after the Pepsi 400 that year which lead to the Talladega finish and the 01 500 which was a great race as far as passing goes

Rumor had it when I lived in Dawsonville that Bills engine was 2 inches lower than everyone else in the 87 season and this season. More downforce. By the way I lost my job because of Bill because of a penny, bill said he didn’t need back a penny change, I said bet you needed that lap yesterday. Pocono race 07. Finished a lap down.
