We saw them two nights in a row, and I hope I see them again in the future! (I'm a new fan. My partner is a decades long dead head).. this is also one of my favorites, if not my absolute favorite, as well.

I love John Mayer's voice. He brings some of the same plaintiveness that Jerry brought to the table. And, btw, Bob Weir is highly underrated IMHO. His carefully placed rhythm guitar licks have always provided the foundation on which Jerry & John Mayer have soared. And yes, it's NOT the Grateful Dead, but it's pretty damn close and beautiful nevertheless.

I grew up with a novice knowledge of the Dead, based on my Skeletons in the Closet Greatest Hits CD. It wasn’t until JM joined and started playing the tunes that true Dead fans love and revere, and I never even heard before, that I fell in live with those deeper cuts. Turns out that my three favorite songs have sprung from this newfound devotion brought on my John, Jeff and Otiel: Terrapin, Eyes of the World and this beauty. Thank you, John Mayer!

Thanks for sharing...i like that Jerry will approach the first solo one way and then use other techniques for the second and other rounds...Mayer is showing his stuff like that too
@rf84095 жыл бұрын
JM has received criticism from some Deadheads in comparison to Garcia. Jerry will always be the man and foundation of the band. His style and contribution will never be able to be replicated evidently, yet I believe Dead and Co should be embraced, especially for today’s audience. I’m from Australia and the Dead craze never really caught on here. It wasn’t until I studied in the States that someone introduced me, but I never took to the Dead until I got back home. Now I’d love to see Dead & Co in concert as a nod to the culture that the band has produced and for a live appreciation for the genius of Jerry Garcia. This said, I believe Mayer is a masterclass guitarist and should be appreciated for his influence to modern guitarists. I’ve met a few American Cali immigrants here in Australia and the first thing I ask is a Grateful Dead story. One spoke about that the band had a thing where a giant inflatable house would land in the middle of the car park before a show to trip everyone out? Can anyone confirm that? I hope to make it over for the summer shows 🌹💀🧸

Gone are the days when the ox fall down, Take up the yoke and plow the fields around. Gone are the days when the ladies said' "Please, Gentle Jack Jones won't you come to me." Brown-eyed women and red grenadine, The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean. Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down, And it looks like the old man's getting on. 1929 when he stepped to the bar, drank to the dregs of the whiskey jar. 1930 when the wall caved in, he made his way selling red-eyed gin. Brown-eyed women and red grenadine, The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean. Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down, And it looks like the old man's getting on. Delilah Jones was the mother of twins, Two times over and the rest were sins. Raised eight boys, only I turned bad, Didn't get the lickin's that the other ones had. Brown-eyed women and red grenadine, The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean. Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down, And it looks like the old man's getting on. Tumble down shack in Big Foot county. Snowed so hard that the roof caved in. Delilah Jones went to meet her God, And the old man never was the same again. Daddy made whiskey and he made it well. Cost two dollars and it burned like hell. I cut hickory just to fire the still, Drink down a bottle and be ready to kill. Brown-eyed women and red grenadine, The bottle was dusty but the liquor was clean. Sound of the thunder with the rain pouring down, And it looks like the old man's getting on.
