Bill saved me at the 1990 NE Show. I was lost in a corner. Grout had started seeping between the tiles, oh boy!!!, where am I and what's happening, I looked up. Bill was standing there. He stopped for a second and just smiled. He nodded and was off. Back to earth, I enjoyed the rest of the show. Walked back in and saw Jerry. Jerry had a blue halo around his body. But you all know that. Got a great T-shirt before I left, 'Love is the Reason.' Took BART home, all was good! Thanks, Bill. Love you!!!

i just cried, so good feeling......loved Bill since he was a Bruin, I was a young teen when he played for UCLA.....saw my first Dead show at Winterland, autumn 1978.....the only time I ever cheered against Bill was when he was a Blazer or Celtic playing my Lakers lol.....if you can find it, Bill did a super cool show for ESPN, a few or more episodes (not more than 10) of "Bill Walton What a Long Strange Trip it's Been".....great mix of basketball and GD and Bill........loved this tribute, until the final slide showing his uniform #32, there wasn't any other shot of him playing hoops.....one would never know he was one of the most gifted and talented basketball players to ever walk the planet.....no, the tribute was so "Dead on" (pun intended), just showing Bill the Grateful Dead fan, and the man ;- ) RIP Big Bill, find a court in Heaven and "throw it down big fella" :- )

I am a little young (at nearly 53) to remember Walton’s amazing career but fell in love with the game of basketball around 13 in his later pro career I always enjoyed his commentary. I also loved the way he talked of his college coach the legendary John Wooden. Separately I became a Dead fan in my late teens and early twenties. Almost a week on and I’m still so sad about the news of his passing. Guy just spoke love and putting forward your effort. And he lived it. Should have had a better NBA career but for his feet and eventually back and knees. Absolute one of a kind. Rest in Peace legend.
