The Sunrise Mall in Corpus Christi Texas, once the popular mall, even used in a movie The Legend of Billie Jean, but now closed, abandoned and vandalized. This mall is now a dead mall and still kept its 80's retro style as it was never updated. This mall opened in 1981 and was featured as a two-story enclosed shopping mall with air condition. This video is a walkaround tour of the outside of the mall. At the end we discovered that one of the boards covering the broken glass near the Dollar Cinema was broken and we just filmed from the outside. You can see the exterior of the cinema and the food court area. We did not want to trespass like other KZbinrs that were arrested for breaking and entering. We would love to see this mall open again or love to be given a tour inside *Hint Hint*. This mall closed its doors in 2019 and waits its fate. This mall would have been perfect for a zombie movie or Stranger Things TV show with their mall the Star Court as you would not have to really decorate. Walking around you can see a lot of broken glass, trash, boarded up windows and graffiti. This video was filmed 2022 in 4K vid we hope you all enjoy and thanks for watching us explore.

This is a child hood mall of mine. I had gone there in 2021 to check it out and it was closed and in this condition and was heart broken. I was there around 2019 and it was still open and loved the arcade that was left in there and still have tickets from there. The theater was still there as well that I had watched many 90s movies there when I was a kid. Really wish it was more preserved 😢

I wish I could walk around it again. I used to love walking around the mall before they closed it to the public. I liked the emptiness and liked remembering the times I went when I was little. I would sometimes just see old people exercising in the AC, sadly one of them was killed by a man in the bathroom that wanted to rob him. I also wanted to say I just found this channel so am not sure if those are your kids, but if so they will remember exploring all these places with you forever. My favorite thing to do is take my kids out and explore new places. So much fun. I will check out more videos, I love stuff like this.

I used to go to the Sunrise Mall one time because there was a Workforce Office there, and that Workforce was one of the last tenants, other than a movie theater, and my mom had taken me and my sister back in 2017/18, I believe. It was abandoned, alright. But still taken care of. Just, lots of stores closed, no liquidation, and the escalators werent working lol. There was a sign that indicated the escalators not working, but oh my god it was pretty. I was never there for the filming of the Legend of Billie Jean, heck, I wasn’t even born yet haha! But I do remember it, good times. As well as there being a theater there, I believe they closed it down, I am not sure but one time we went to see Trolls, I believe, but it wasnt taken care of much. I do remember Sunrise Mall before it was completely abandoned! Good times, but the La Palmera mall that replaced it was a bit smaller than Sunrise, so not that much stores, I’m assuming!

I used to go to that mall back in the late 80s and early 90s. My favorite stores were B. Dalton Bookstore, Waldenbook Store, Spencers, and Musicland. The ramp on the backside went to a parking lot above the Sears. You could actually park on the Sears roof and enter by the Radio Shack and a Record store, forgot the name. They closed that parking lot around 83 I think, well before the expansion around 87 that added the food court and theater, and expanded the Sears to a two story store. The Oshmans and Games People Play were pretty dope.

@@darkdimensionshauntedhouse Yea where my parents used to bank. No I'm not referring to a 'garage' at Sunrise Mall. Just an area to park between Sears and the center part of the mall. You could get up there from either side of the mall. SPID side or McArdle side. I used that parking lot often just after getting my driver's license. But it was very short lived due to what I call the 'Mall War'. Padre Staples renovates, then Sunrise Mall renovates. Repeat. Like I said it was short lived so there's very few people other than me that remember it.

Interesting facts: Burlington used to be Frost Bros. which was an upscale store like Dillard’s before they closed in 1988. Also that ramp that goes upstairs that you didn’t know what it was…well it used to be a small second story open air parking lot for the public (approx 20 parking spots) but sometime in the late 80’s I presume a store or the mall needed more storage and closed it off and enclosed the parking spot with walls and a roof. That explains what it looks weird. I think it was near where KB Toy store was on the second floor.

Too bad I never got see how the mall used to be when it was packed in the old times, my dad always said how the mall was a hotspot for groups and how he was a manager in the same arcade in the mall. The first time i went to that mall was like around 2011 or 2012, It was pretty dead as the only places that had people were just the movies right in the second floor of the mall or the arcade, and sears as well too.
