So originally this dealership was Walterboro Motor Sales. It’s always been a Ford Dealership. Spent time there growing up since my grandfather was a Ford man. The dealership was originally owned by the Rizer family. The same family that owns the Chevy Dealership. The father was the owner of the Ford dealership and the Son still owns the Chevy dealership. Not sure if the Rizer family is still involved with Walterboro ford or not. You are correct that the city of Walterboro did purchase this building. I can’t remember off hand what they wanted to do with this property but I know they want it to function as a civic location.

@@jmayer3 great info!! Thanks for sharing all of this! I guess the structure is coming down or at least the back of the building? The inside looks to be in very bad shape. I’m not sure if anything other than the outer walls can be saved. Thanks for always jumping in and providing the details! 👍👍👍

My dad had an '88 F150, but it wasn't his first truck. In the 70s, he had a Ford tow truck and he and a friend of his tried their hand at towing, but it didn't pan out for them. It wasn't until I was 11 in 1989 that my dad switched from cars to trucks for good. He bought a '79 Chevy C10 with an online 6 and a 3 on the tree. Then, came the '88 F150, and then his import phase with a '94 Izusu Rodeo followed by an '04 Toyota Tacoma. His first new truck was a 2012 Chevy Silverado, and he traded that in 2017 on a new Ram 1500, which he still has. My maternal grandpa owned 3 F150s that he bought new and garage kept. The most grueling work those trucks ever did was transport his model airplanes to the sod farm where he flew them. On my Dad's side, I had an uncle by marriage who worked as a mechanic at a number of Dodge and Chrysler-Plymouth dealers. He even rebuilt the engine in my first car, an '86 Plymouth Caravelle sedan (a stretched K car).

Oh wow! A caravelle! Now I have to find some Carvel ice cream cake at a grocery store! 😂😂😂 Did any of the fords have that stupid clearcoat peeling issue? Ford told my dad on both that it was “acid rain”… they were full of Poo! I have seen sooooo many fords with that clearcoat peel issue.

@charlestonpinballarcade None of my grandpa's Fords, and especially not Grandma's Lincoln LS (My sister in Tennessee still has that car). My dad's '88 F150 didn't either. Now, my 2014 Hyundai Elantra that I bought in 2016had clearcut issues on the roof and trunk lid by about 2018. I was soooo glad to trade that heap in 2019 for my 2017 Sentra.

Lived in Walterboro in the 90s. Great little town...went back to visit, didn't recognize it! Loved this video!! P.S. the water tower in the end of your video is the opening scene of the movie Radio (was painted for the movie, wish they would have left it up)

GM vehicles had some HORRIBLE paint in the 80s. Especially darker colors would crack and craze after a few years. Ford wasn't the only ones that had paint issues.
@charlestonpinballarcade3 ай бұрын
All of them became horrible when lead went away and clearcoats came into the production. We need the days when you could run a power buffer on a specific spot for like 3 hours and the paint was still there and perfect. Now, you breathe on paint and it’s ruined! 😂😂😂
