Thanks for the video . Very informative How much citric acid was used for this recipe ?
@comiatta3 жыл бұрын
This was so informative and fun to watch! I'm a certified aromatherapist currently looking to try new things, and let me tell you, I was soo confused by all these tutorials adding citric essential oils directly to the salts with nothing else acting as a conductor. I was thinking maybe the salt was supposed to act as one but that didn't make much sense to me, so I'm super thankful for your shared expertise. Cheers!

Would you need to put a preservative in this? Or because you are drying it out first you don't need to?
@lisasutcliffe59632 жыл бұрын
The best video I have seen on making essential oil bath salt. You're exactly right about not wanting pockets of essential oil undiluted in the bath because it can burn the skin. I have watched so many videos where people are just rubbing essential oil and salt together. The salt will not dilute the essential oils and neither will the bath water so carrier oil is a must. Great video, thanks for sharing x

The one thing I think I would have added is poly 80, I really don't like the oil floating on the water and sticking to the tub or me. Great video, thank you!

Thank you for sharing! Can I press them while they're wet to create salt blocks? If that's ok, for how long do they need to dry out? I hope you can answer my question. 💜
@WiscoMel3 жыл бұрын
I made this last night, used half the amount of wet ingredients and added an extra quarter cup of baking soda. It didn’t activate but it stuck together in a large flat clump😩 dehumidifier is running and it’s not getting below 50% so I’m thinking that might be why. Hoping when I break it up, that adding in some extra salt before jarring it will help. It feels soft in the water though!

Hi thanks for the video. Are the measurements 2 C of each salt?..... equalling a total of 6 cups once combined? Thanks....its been a stressful month for me and this looks like the best way to indulge. Much love and appreciation for your generosity (and humor) while doing these videos

It can be up to your own preference. I use half half of epsom/sea salt you can sub for Himalayan salt or whatever salt you want. I know it’s been 9months since you asked but I hope this helps 🖤

This is the best bath salt video ever! I never thought about adding citric acid for the extra effect. That is genius and a "wow" factor. How do you feel about dried flowers? Are they ok for the drain and plumbing?
@MrsSoapAndClay3 жыл бұрын
I mean, I put dried flowers in bath bombs and the like, and they sell well. For me personally? I hate the floaties that I have to clean out of the tub afterwards.

As an aromatherapist wouldn’t the essential oils evaporate when drying it out over night?
@MrsSoapAndClay Жыл бұрын
Hey! Given the small amount of essential oils and little carrier to bind to, it’s reasonable to assume that some of the essential oil benefits are lost in evaporation. The scent remains, but beyond that I’m not sure if much else does.

Could you put polysorbate 80 in this to keep the tub from being greasy?
@MrsSoapAndClay3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I’ve never used poly 80 in bath salts, but it’s a good idea! I’d start out with 1% of total batch weight and see if that amount plays nice with the salts. 😀
@naturallygigi32943 жыл бұрын
@Traviaun Golden-DeJesus yes, you definitely can. It'll help disperse all the oils and colors evenly into the bath salt, and prevent that annoying ring around the bathtub.

Quick question, would you need poly 80 due to the carrier oil so that it does not leave oil to slip on in the tub?
@MrsSoapAndClay3 жыл бұрын
In general, I avoid including poly 80 unless it’s absolutely necessary. For this application, given the amount of oils dispersed throughout a batch, I don’t think Poly is necessary. You totally can include it though!

Oh don’t cry! It’s all about testing and good clean fun in the soap and bathing world! If you want something like this to actually bubble (as opposed to fizz), you can add some SLSA or a bit of polysorbate, which bubbles a bit when the citric acid and baking soda hits the water.
