*Anyone interested in me doing Dead Space 2 next for the Years Later format?* Let me know by Thumbs Up'n the video! If not, feel free to recommend a game for me to check out. I'm enjoying going back to some of my old favorite games and seeing how they hold up today, so you can expect more of these videos in the future. Video is available in 1440p. Played through it for the first time a week or so ago and its honestly a bit overrated. Slashers are heavily overused. Chapters 2-9 are devoid of anything happening plot wise and you're mostly just an errand boy until the end. The second return to the medical deck is notably entirely pointless as the poison you make doesn't even work. The Necromorph vent AI is a bit janky and it often ends up spawning a conga line out of a single vent rather than multiple from different vents. Spawning out of vents is over relied upon in general. The two bosses were pretty basic without much effort put in to give them interesting attack patterns, they just spam the same attack over and over. For the story the main 'twist' was way too obvious. Some plot points are pretty poorly explained, such as why the marker wanted to be returned to the colony or how the Valor got singlehandedly annihilated by a naked slasher. From a visual and art design perspective it is fantastic, however most of the effort seemed to have gone into the medical, engineering and flight decks. As you go further into the game they become a bit more generic.

I remember playing Dead Space and getting the platinum trophy when I was in a deeply depressed point in my life with both parents dead and it honestly was thereapeutic for me to play. I could only handle one chapter a night and it felt like facing some of my own demons as I slugged through the game on the hardest difficulty. I really felt like I could relate to Issac and I wanted to see him through to the end. Horror games like Dead Space and Silent Hill are underrated tools for combating depression for some individuals like me.

I remember my first time playing through Dead Space. The jumpscares and that eerie-feeling was what got me to be scared of every turn and hallway. It took me about close to an entire year to finish it, mainly because I couldn't get past the Engineering Room. Then until I finally got past that and down onto the planet, I was so happy and then, relieved that I had finished the game. After that, I replayed the game so many times after that, that I got used to where the enemies came from and where to go that I started to explore the levels more freely than when I had previously been afraid of exploring. I haven't played Dead Space in a couple years now, but I'm going to play it again. Hopefully I haven't lost my sense of direction playing the game again.

I recently played Dead Space for the first time and I almost dreaded starting the game up everytime. I felt on edge the entire journey, especially when there were Necromorphs attacking me and I had to reload my weapon. I already knew the game a bit, and the only part I truly knew was the parts with the Hunter that regenerates. One of the best experiences was the moment when it jumps you, you have to run away and move crates with Kinesis at the same time. I have probably never felt more panic in a game (other than maybe Frictional Game's SOMA). Dead Space is so well done and although I found a lot of bugs and parts where the game shows its age, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

"Still a Masterpiece?" YES, of course!!! Dead space is a staple of the gaming industries Horror genre, I consider it a MUST play for any gaming enthusiasts or any fan of any Horror film/ series or just piece of media. It's always going be an experience that will stick with me forever, in the back of my mind, Crawling around through the vents, whispering, begging to be Made Whole!!! But for real it's unfortunate what EA did to Visceral Games, the original Dead Space truly showed the patential that the I.P really has. Just cross your fingers and hope for Dead Space 4. 🤞👽👍

I just finished it for the first time and wow, what a ride. This game is absolutely amazing and has a place in my top 10 favorite games of all time. Everything is perfectly tweaked and balanced to give a true horror sci-fi experience. From the mechanics and gameplay to the sound and music, the atmosphere, the pace, and the length of the game. It all works beautifully. I can't wait to start playing the second game tonight and I'm also looking forward to this remake.

When it comes to combat, what I love about the first game (and something that the series progressively got worse at) was that enemy movement was generally slow and their numbers were rarely significant. They used the strength and high damage of the individual enemies to maintain tension and challenge without sacrificing the unique dismemberment aspect. DS2 started to introduce more enemies that didn't really allow for dismemberment, often introducing weaker enemies in larger numbers instead, and it made fighting them much less dynamic; DS3 took that even further. DS2 did introduce that one enemy that I think we can all agree brought back that sense of tension, but they showed up far too rarely.

Any tips for impossible mode as I’m going to try it
@CapsuleClub-fz6gu3 жыл бұрын
@@SqueezyBoy Sure thing. Upgrade the Plasma Cutter as soon as possible and use that as your main weapon. A fully upgraded Plasma Cutter is godlike. I aim for the legs horizontally. They fly to the ground, then shoot an arm off and you're good. Choose a secondary weapon, I recommend the Force Gun as its primary fire is great at pushing back a necromorph herd if they mob you and get too close. Upgrade your HP and Stasis duration when you can, but always keep at least one Power Node on you at all times to unlock the Node Doors, most of them are worth it for the extra cash and ammo. Upgrade your suit as soon as possible. Just stick to two weapons max so you can always have credits for ammo, health, or upgrading your suit(more inventory and defense). Juke those necromorphs! They are relentless, but they aren't too intelligent. Remember, you don't have to fight every encounter. Example:asteroid room. Hardest encounter IMO is at the end of the game when you're moving the marker and the doors lockdown. Stay in the corner closest to the door and pick em off as the drop in. Here's a little tip: Move the marker at the end of the game with your kinesis and push it as far as you can down the rail at the last door outside without exiting. Keep grabbing it with kinesis and then blasting it a bit farther. You can get it almost all the way to the end. When you can't push it any further, run out and grab with your kinesis and push it the rest of the small distance and BAM all the necro morphs and tentacles are obliterated and you just avoided a troublesome encounter. Most of all, just have fun! You can totally beat it on Impossible, it's really not that difficult, just try to keep your space from the necros.

Right after this game was released I saw a short making-of video, and it was the very first time I ever heard the term "vertical slice" to describe when a developer needs to come up with a functional and relatively fleshed out, playable concept segment of a game which they then use to pitch the idea to the higher ups before getting the green light to make the game

Hot take the Plasma cutters alternate firing mode is it's real primary firing mode, because it's the most commonly used unless angles mean it's better at cutting and hitting limbs if it's vertical.

The outstanding sound design is still absolutely unmatched...I have so much respect for Glen Schofield, because that's the 1. Priority they aimed for in Deadspace but Callisto Protocol as well. My real only problem with dead space 1 is that Isaac isn't a person he's less booker DeWitt more bioshock 1 mc. In 2 Isaac shines because he's actually a person who will readily if he doesn't want to do something tell the person to fudge off. Plus 2 is the perfect balance of action and survival horror i.e. re4.

Excellent video and analysis. My only comment is that I think you might have missed a crucial aspect of the laser cutter. The ability to rotate the the axis from horizontal to vertical isn't strictly about damage, but about the ease of cutting off arms. Horizontal shots were best for cutting legs, vertical shots were best for cutting off arms.

My favorite horror film has always been the thing and always wanted a game version of it and feel in love the second that necromorph appeared.so many games get so many accolades for the things they have when dead space was the first game to have any and all of them. No game movie clips, no loading screens, an indifferent arsenal of weapons, no HUD, 3d audio
