I think "haters" should be quantified as people who drop the substance of a criticism in favor of their emotional bias. If a critique is well thought out but harsh, not hating. "You're stupid for liking x, y is overrated, he can't rap", that's "hating". Just my opinion.

The term hating is often used to be dismissive of someone's opinion. Even if someone is correct that you are hating that says nothing about whether you are justified in your hatred.

My understanding is that he never had much money until he began acting. He definitely didn't "start from the bottom" though. He should have called it "Started from the Lower-Middle Class". Good episode! I do agree that this occurs among the younger crowd. I used to accuse people of hating too. When someone idolizes an artist so much and then another person nagatively critiques the same artist, then that person will get upset. It doesnt matter what your reasoning is. Sad but true.

ive been subscribed to this channel for a while now and i always value and appreciate every one of your conversations and reviews. now to the point. i hate when people use the term hating lol. if someone can say they don't like an artist and not back it up with points then that's just an unsubstantiated opinion. and personal attachment aside... if you can't really step outside of yourself and give your favorite artist an honest critique then that's something personal you need to work out.

I think the term hater is used when the reason(s) you don't like someone/something can't be explained or understood. If I understand why C-Town doesn't like Drake I would never call him a hater. But if he either has no valid points, or can't articulate them, then the term hater makes more sense to use. If you've listened to enough Drake to form your opinion, then I'll respect it. e.g. How many people say they don't like country music yet have never even listened to it? Great video as always!
@mykectown13 жыл бұрын
@xWFColonel56x That totally makes sense. For real. I can only speak for myself, but I when I say "same ole Wayne" I was thinking that Carter 4 was very similar to Carter 3. But I totally see your point. I just meant, at this stage in his career, people should know what to expect and shouldn't have gotten so upset by what they got from him.

@beezy, c town, kinge, feefo - I like the show because it put things into your perspective. I think the word hating is a strong word that used loosely today. The think the difference between us old heads and the youngsters are there not as diverse as us when it comes to music choice. All they know is what the mainstream is feeding them.
@coolnesss1613 жыл бұрын
HA Myke went in on Antiswag! Nice video guys! To me hating is having no basis for not liking whatever the music it is. Critizing is giving reason why something is flawed and how could be improved. People forget that music is subjective. No matter how much you THINK something is great or shitty..it's all about preference at the end of the day.

Thank you for choosing to do a video based on my suggestion...Great convo as always...Definitely agree with Myke...if you have your points then you shouldn't be called a hater...it seems that the more popular the artist, the more likely that artist's fanbase will call a legitimate critic a hater...of course the biggest irony of it all is that most people who accuse others of hating, will hate as well...they'll be the first to say that something is wack or has no swag...smh

Personally, I'd say that "hating" is saying something sucks and then never going deeper than that, even if it stems from a valid place. Criticism should be in some way constructive. When you site specific reasons and examples of why you like or don't like something it's criticism. If an artist stumbles across negative reviews of their album, they should become aware of SPECIFICALLY what people aren't feeling, and consider whether or not to work on or change that thing.

To me a hater is someone who is mad that the mainstream hip hop artist that get the shine that lyrical mcs dont like these typical hip hop heads that say "oh man fuck I miss the old days I miss the golden era Im tired of these new generation artist who are rich and all they do is,rap about money ect." Those to me r haters if u just say you dont like it then cool music is subjective but if your that mad then your a hater
@mikesbruv13 жыл бұрын
In my world, there is no such thing as hating...the only time I guess someone would fall into the hater category is if they disliked an artist/album because it wasnt "cool" anymore...and also if they were basing their opinion of an album on other albums they had heard in the same genre, and not giving an artist a chance...there is no rule which says anyone has to like anything, hater is really a throwaway comment in my books...I also agree with the idea of hating on the person and thus the music

Plus i know exactly where myke is coming from when ppl are telling him why he doesnt like drake's music. Its like its not good enough to just dislike something, u have to be told why u dont like something and how THIS is the only why to dislike something. Like dont tell me why i dont like something.

Lol.. i'm with C Town. Anytime i'm debating music with someone and they unjustifiably throw the word "hater" at me, i just end it right there. That's a clear sign that they either have no point to argue or they just don't possess the skills to express themselves in an intelligent way. Either way, it's not worth the effort. lol
@kennithbinge13 жыл бұрын
@SSBMSynikaL Actually, we were using relate able examples to illustrate and speak on the topic. The topic was a recommendation from our viewers. Um, I don't think anyone called you a hater so that kind of throws me off a little bit. Anyway, it's not anything we personally feel. We just had clear cut examples we could draw on for this topic. That's all. Trust me dude. We don't really care.

Hating is when you verbalize your dislike for something or someone that the majority of people have deemed "hot" or "fly" , because the majority feels that you obviously don't get it. Or it can be considered the dislike of something or someone with no reasoning behind your dislike.
@christianaayodele12 жыл бұрын
I think hating is when you go beyond disagreeing/disliking the content of the music on its own merit. When you start to take personal shots at the artist themselves rather than the music, then to me that's hating.

dear dead end hip hop, am i the only one who is annoyed when hip hop fans are eager to say "album of the year" for albums such as carter 4, cole world, watch the throne when at tops they have only listened to snippets of a few mixtapes and singles from various artists on blogs. @sdofik i think its sad that despite all these advances in technology, which enable us to discover quality music, the majority of my generation is interested in listening to corporate approved artists backed by major labels worried about big and fast profits. I really believe 2011 will go down as a strong year for hip hop releases but most of them have gone unnoticed. except for "hipster/yuppy" bloggers, who ironically are not the intended audience or fan base many artists desire.

Hating is when you bring in personal opinions that don't have to do with the music. For example, if someone says, drake is gay, thats hating, because that isn't his music. Criticism would be saying, drake is a bad rapper, which is still an opinion, but it has to do with perception of the music,

@Narkami I see what you're saying...but don't you think that's a little unreasonable to expect that? I mean, if someone asks you why you don't like an artist you really sit and break down every verse? That's impossible in a spontaneous convo. Especially when you hear someone and just plain don't like them. I don't memorize Wacka Flocka verses, but I don't feel like I am being ridiculous by saying "I think he sucks." People just don't argue that because it's a common sentiment.
