Its a bit of an oversight of the publisher that they didn't even try and get in contact with you about the remake, let alone offer you a free code, considering you have the two highest viewed videos of the original on the internet. But if they're not even bothered to put in the leg work to promote the game, then they only have themselves to blame for it's failure.

I actually knew about this game already, I keep track of new releases by looking at torrent sites and the piracy reddit (which is a surprisingly good way for that) and played the old one as well, but not for long, ditched it because I had to try out like 200 games in a row I got from abandonware sites. thx for reminding me I wanted to try this one out!

It's always interesting to see old games no one talks about. Mine was the Conflict Desert Storm game back in the way old days of 2004, first one did get a steam port but the second one is incredibly obscure, let alone the two spin offs. Hope one day every obscure PC game gets a remaster or remake.

Conflict Desert Storm is 4-player co-op on GameCube and it's so horrible yet so good at the same time. Despite horrendous draw distance and resolution some friends and I managed to play through the whole game in a weekend

I bought this title in box at a thrift shop circa 2012 solely for the sake of it looking valuable from a collectors standpoint. I was disappointed to discover it was worth nothing but after booting it up out of curiosity and playing for awhile (which took a bit a willpower to be honest), I absolutely loved it due to it’s unique gameplay. Deadly Dozen is more like a puzzle than an FPS, especially at the higher difficulties and there a few games that exist that really fit that niche. It lead me to playing “Hidden and Dangerous 2” which is one of my all time favorite titles and follows a very similar gameplay loop as this one. Love to see that this was remastered, and wonderful video my man. Gave me some nostalgia I never knew existed lol

It is a *great* idea to remake old games that had a ton of potential but fell short, and It's something that KZbinrs like yourself and Nitro Rad have been advocating for. However, the reason for remaking that sort of game is to get everything right the second time around. Otherwise, what's the point?

I bought it discount when I was a kid as we didn't have much money to spend on casual purchases and fell-in love with it; quirks and all. Absolutely wild to see it got a remake. Even if it's rough, it makes me happy that small companies see value in titles like these. So thankful for GoG and the culture they perpetuate in bringing old games back to life.

I wouldn't put Driver San Francisco in the same category as this. Pretty well known game from a large studio. Driv3r could be considered "a game no one else appreciates" but it too is still a well known game from a big studio.

I remember having to go prretty far to find a copy. Overall though it's a AAA game. Internationally, even if it "flopped" (which I don't think it did) it still would have sold about a million copies which is wild by itself

I first heard about Ziggurat Games when I saw that they bought the rights to Advent Rising (hey, that's a game that could be interesting to cover on this channel). I'm one of the, like, seven Advent Rising fans, so seeing the game get updated on Steam and GOG to support the latest fan improvements to the game pretty quickly after the Ziggurat purchase was really nice. I'd be really picky about them making any changes in a remake, so I definitely understand the desire to see something kind of obscure that you love get revived in a thoughtful way. Ziggurat definitely seems to have their hearts in the right place and I hope their business is a success so they're able to continue to improve these efforts.

My favorite game that wasn't well regarded and more or less forgotten is a somewhat eurojank FPS/RPG made in 2005 called Boiling Point: Road to Hell. It was made by a small Ukrainian company called Deep Shadows and published by Atari. It has you playing as a guy trying to find his daughter who's been kidnapped in some South American country. It has a bunch of interesting little mechanics to it that help make for some interesting RPG elements like how the faction system works and how you can go about completing some quests. The game unfortunately ended up a bit rushed so some stuff ended up unfinished or lacking good polish to it. Other than that I think it's a cool game that was punching quite above its weight for the time it came out. I think if it got a modern remake that fixed up some of the flaws it had it would be a pretty fun time. There's a pretty good vid about it made by TehSnakerer that I would recommend if this game sounds interesting to anyone.

I was a big budget games kid, so a lot of the titles I played were more obscure. I was always more interested in sims and rpgs. One of my favorites was Magician’s Quest: Mysterious Times. It’s not quite as obscure as deadly dozen; the highest viewed video from what I’m seeing is PBG’s gameplay video, with a little over 100k views. It’s very animal-crossing like but had a pretty surprising amount of the side things and magician content thrown in. Different events during “magic time,” which would change the appearance of the world and make different bugs and fish available; the ability to cast spells whenever; and VERY funky looking “villagers”. Like some are penguins and foxes, others are imps or cupcake people. Only one game from the series ever made it to the US, so the English version of that title is listed for $200 just for the cartridge. Love your videos as always, obscure and/or bizarre video games are my favorite to learn about. :•)

I loved the original game too... there are dozens of us! (pun intended) But what's funny is that I played the sequel first, The Pacific Theater. One thing that I really loved was all the wacky cheat codes, like "Flight Mode," "God Mode," and "Enemy Field Of View" where lines would show up through the entire map leading back to each enemies face, lol.

a game i would *love* to see properly finished in a remake was the very last game by the "studio?" from the original turok, the game went into dev hell because atari went bankrupt midproduction then the game got revived YEARS later by a very budget publishers. The Red Star, a couch co op beat em up bullet-hell. yes bullet hell while also being a top down beat-em-up, i had never ever found another game like that again. me being a big fan of it and finding that there were leaked builds of the game out there made me discover they canned very little things from the original alphas to the finished game and a LOT of the effects kind of stuff on the game are still masterful for an ps2 game, specially the shader that was a literal portal on the TUTORIAL mission where the portal would go left and right while the ship would stick its parts out to shoot at you. those dudes literally created THE portal before portal and thats quite fucking insane bro, even more on a freacking ps2 it was SUCH a damn flex, that specific effect still tanks the performance of the ps2 emulator till this day i don't think they ever found a fix for that. the game is insanely well paced but the extra unlockable char feels half finished lacking moves and when i played the prototype it had even less, maybe they just never had the time to add more and instead just polished out what was already half finished. i hope you do end up seeing that game someday you can find the leaked builds (even an XBOX build apparently with better graphics i need to check) on WebArchive or the cutting room floor which them redirects you to the other builds. god i miss that game so much, it was one of the games i also got on a bargain bin simply by the cover and is still to this day one of the very few games on my ps2 that i have the most memories playing.

I remember playing the demo way back in the day off of gamespy, then bought it off some sketch website. It is a good game (in my 12 year old mind). It's always been there as that one really cool hard world war 2 game. I remember being able to slect your dudes and equip them however you wanted and that was awesome. A stepping stone to me getting into Rainbow six, then SWAT, and now Ready or Not. Thank you Deadly Dozen.

It was my first ever WW2 FPS and I have struggled for years to remember its name. Seeing this remaster come out of nowhere made me very happy. It's a shame that the remaster isn't superior in every way, but I'll take it over the original as a way to re-experience my childhood memories.

One obscure game i seem to only remember is the Crusty Demons ps2 game. I cant find many things online about it either. From what i remember it was really fun, it was like tony hawks pro skater's arcade style where youre in an area doing tricks to get a high score + Burnout's crash mechanics but with motorbikes. It had a neat x ray feature when you crash, you'd see your bones break. I think it also increased your score.

I still remember getting this cheap back when I was 10 and pronouncing it as "Deadly DOH-Zen". Got it running on my laptop these days so it's a real treat to see you talking about it in any capacity! Shame about the "Remake", though D:

I can dig the sandbox intensity, here. I feel a similar sentimentality for Ring Of Red on PS2. I pick it up & play it every few years & still love it's dieselpunk grit.

great video! feels like a wasted opportunity, since most of the cons you listed couldn't be easily fixed by 1 person in a week at most (well, except for the ui). hopefully some modder can pick it up
