People were using Eggs, and Tuna belly for salmon on the hump. It seemed to be the only thing that worked when the river was low, and clear!

What about a piece of anchovie or herring with the eggs and shrimp? I've personally used that with a LOT of success.

Can you use any type of salmon roe for Chinooks, ie. chum, chinook, or coho, roe.. or do you cure a specific roe for chinook. At the same time, in curing roe for coho do you aim for a specific salmon roe. Are colours important as well. What colours do you favour for chinooks and coho.. I live in Chicago and I'm planning on fishing for salmon this fall at lake Michigan. Do salmon bite eggs during the fall? I have been told that they dont feed. To use lures crankbaits. I dont have any experience on fishing with lures. I always use cut up bait or live bait.

Salmon will hit eggs. I fish for them like that all the time. They will also hit rapalas. They hit out of anger on rapalas. The eggs they eat because it's out of instinct. They want to be the dominant fish during spawn. If you need tips let me know.

They don't eat cause they are "hangry" they still bite at predators that could potentially eat their spawn, or smash eggs that aren't theirs.
