It's very hard to see this Animal in his Natural Habitat. And if you accidently step on it and you got bitten, you have to die alone in the Rainforest... The Fact that they stay absolute "frozen" makes this Snake so dangerous! The Fascinating Pattern and the Colours of it makes it to one of the most beautyful Animans at all!

He’s always been one of my favourite snakes. My fascination came from serving with the British Army for 18 years where I was a trained medic, paramedic eventually and lead on to me doing my tropical medicine course. Soldiers in Africa were petrified of this when we’d go to Africa to train in the jungle. Such a well camouflaged snake. Beautiful footage.

On the planet though! That's a hell of a statement. They kinda look like a Timber rattlesnake actually and comparable in size to a eastern diamondback. I personally think some American copperheads give them a run for their money with dead leaf camo.
@DrAnderson1
@DrAnderson1 2 жыл бұрын
@@CJM-rg5rt - I think Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes are the largest of the rattlesnake family, they can get 8 feet or larger. Gaboon vipers are thick & about half the length of the Eastern Diamondback. ED’s heads are smaller, and lack any real dramatic patterning, and they have a rattle. Gaboon vipers have that rectangle patterning along their backs…I, personally, don’t think they look anything alike. I’ve seen many Eastern & Western Diamondbacks in nature, living in both North Carolina & in Arizona….but I’ve only seen Gaboon Vipers behind glass in zoos & such. Maybe it’s different seeing them in their natural habitat, but I can’t imagine it would be that much different. I’ve been face to foot with several Copperhead’s, too. They were all around our property in North Carolina. They’re incredibly beautiful snakes. In my opinion, they’re more comparable to the Gaboon Viper in beauty and appearance. But there’s just something about the Gaboon Viper that I find so, incredibly beautiful. I’d have to agree with Jay, I think they’re they’re the most beautifully patterned snake on the planet. But, this is why beauty is so subjective. We all have different things that we find beautiful. And you’re definitely right about Copperheads being gorgeous, too. 🐍🐍❤️

_Living Zoology_ Alright. I was thinking really big snakes pythons or anacondas. All they do is wrapping their body around the prey squeezing it while they swallow. One can see prey is still alive making some last fight while it goes down to the stomach..

Thank you, yes, the original video was posted in 2019. At that time we were not expecting that filming for KZbin will be a full-time job for one of us and we posted some videos without our logo. We noticed uprising level of stealing of our footage and we want to protect these older videos by reuploading them with our logo.

Where did the name Gaboon originate?
@LivingZoology
@LivingZoology 3 жыл бұрын
Originally it came from Portuguese - Gabon, but later it was changed to Gaboon, which was referring to the northern part of French Congo at that time (beginning of the 20th century).

When does it drink water if it waits for days?
@LivingZoology
@LivingZoology 3 жыл бұрын
It lives in a humid environment, so it can drink water from the leaves quite often. But it gets most liquids from its prey.
