He’s always been one of my favourite snakes. My fascination came from serving with the British Army for 18 years where I was a trained medic, paramedic eventually and lead on to me doing my tropical medicine course. Soldiers in Africa were petrified of this when we’d go to Africa to train in the jungle. Such a well camouflaged snake. Beautiful footage.

On the planet though! That's a hell of a statement. They kinda look like a Timber rattlesnake actually and comparable in size to a eastern diamondback. I personally think some American copperheads give them a run for their money with dead leaf camo.
@DrAnderson12 жыл бұрын
@@CJM-rg5rt - I think Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnakes are the largest of the rattlesnake family, they can get 8 feet or larger. Gaboon vipers are thick & about half the length of the Eastern Diamondback. ED’s heads are smaller, and lack any real dramatic patterning, and they have a rattle. Gaboon vipers have that rectangle patterning along their backs…I, personally, don’t think they look anything alike. I’ve seen many Eastern & Western Diamondbacks in nature, living in both North Carolina & in Arizona….but I’ve only seen Gaboon Vipers behind glass in zoos & such. Maybe it’s different seeing them in their natural habitat, but I can’t imagine it would be that much different. I’ve been face to foot with several Copperhead’s, too. They were all around our property in North Carolina. They’re incredibly beautiful snakes. In my opinion, they’re more comparable to the Gaboon Viper in beauty and appearance. But there’s just something about the Gaboon Viper that I find so, incredibly beautiful. I’d have to agree with Jay, I think they’re they’re the most beautifully patterned snake on the planet. But, this is why beauty is so subjective. We all have different things that we find beautiful. And you’re definitely right about Copperheads being gorgeous, too. 🐍🐍❤️

While it's an amazing video but it's also scary. That animal making that laughing sound in the background is spooky.

Thank you for watching! :) Those loud sounds are hornbills!

@@LivingZoology thank you for replying. Did you shoot the video? I was confused about whether the sounds were from a scary bird or some rare monkey. Gosh I would have died hearing the hornbill. 😋

@@Ishbr Welcome :) Yes, we filmed all footage on our KZbin channel. Yes, hornbills can get pretty annoying when you listen to them whole day! :D
