The LCD skybox was such a striking choice in this one, I'm genuinely curious what the meaning behind it is. It gives short animation a certain texture that I just love, but I feel like there's something behind it metaphorically that I can't quite think of. Great work deadly.

Ha, I like this. Feels like you're subverting what we expect from you specifically, which already feels subversive to a lot of other cartoons. Does that make sense? Actually I'll be honest, you've been one of my favorite animators for a long time. I've always loved the surreal bend in your animations. So having that expectation of "ooh, a new surreal DeadlyComics video!" then it sets that up, and then does something else fun? Feels pretty good, I dunno how else to describe it.

When Crumble said they don't know how to let go, and the dog was gone, that was when I realized that the dog was perched on a grave stone the whole time. The moment struck me perfectly, then it politely "just kidding"d and that was sweet, but it didn't have to, it earned the sad surprise I felt for a moment.

Not to exaggerate too much, but this one is REALLY good. The sense of timing on each punchline, the tone whiplash as comedy, the subtle gags like the balloon bouncing off the sky screen. Very nice.

I love this, and letting go of the balloon and the extreme reaction afterwards reminds me of my nephew - he had an extreme anxiety response to the existance of balloons and releasing them, so who knows - maybe that’s what he was feeling inside his head when we did “balloon releases” a couple times (exposure therapy)

This has the vibe of a 90's short that plays before a movie adaptation of a kids show and it's giving me a false sense of nostalgia watching it. I'm specifically thinking about the Rugrats movies and the realistic sky shots it had contrasted to the clunky Klasky Csupo animation.

I feel like this is a metaphor for attaining enlightenment in Buddhism. The balloon represents earthly attachment and selfish desire, which, though causing us suffering, we so identify with that we are unwilling to let it go. The little green guy is seeking guidance from wise master dog on how to let go of his desire and end his pain. The dog, sitting on a gravestone which represents the ego-death of Buddhahood, gives the sage, yet simple, advice that letting go of desire is simply an act of releasing our unnatural grip on life and accepting the essential nothingness that is our true nature. Once released from his suffering, the green guy attains enlightenment, and transcends this world to arrive at Nirvana, the divine realm of pure spiritual bliss. However, rather than live in Nirvana for the rest of eternity, the green guy joins master dog in becoming a bodhisattva, one who has attained enlightenment but chooses to remain on earth to guide others on the path to holy peace and freedom from desire.
