Raw footage all the way. Edits with music are for kids. Like ending every wave with an "air" that goes nowhere. Pointless and painful to watch. This is the best surf foorage I've watched in I can't remember how long. Pure gold.

Thats a good idea. I see now how it would be better to watch where the surfer pops up. I think i normally cut off the last bit as i am turning around to see if someone is on the wave behind, Will bare that in mind when shooting big waves next.

As amazing as this is, (@skymonkey5 And it truly is, piloting, filming, the surfing, no music, all EPIC!!!), but anyone else want the camera to stay on any of the guys that fall just a bit longer, to see the aftermath and what happens when you go down in a bad spot? It's the part I most enjoy when watching "raw" vids and what I hate about edited vids. (Morbid fascination, I know). It feels like all video editors always cut out the best bit. And I know the focus is always on the waves and the makes, but the wipeouts are as important, and are what any surfer has to contemplate when paddling out in this size and type of wave (slab, heavy reef break etc). Y'know, just that little thought to yourself as you are about to rock jump or enter the paddle/entry point and you think, ok, that dude went down in a bad spot, let's see what happens. I always weigh up a bad wipeout with a comparison of my previous worst one and then, only if I feel comfy I could take the beat down, do I enter (I'm usually thinking to myself, I've surfed heavier/bigger/gnarlier waves before as the set arrives---even if untrue---to prep my mind for the session). Anyone else feel the same? Thanks for attending my TED talk.

It's because I normally shoot just for instagram and have only started making longer videos for YT. When shooting for IG it's one wave shots. So when a set comes in, I film the first wave then and straight to the wave after and repeat. So if a wipeout happens, I get the actual wipeout, but do not wait for the surfer to resurface as I'm filming the next wave. It's something I will just have to adapt to now that I am moving into longer form videos and concentrating on youtube content. I have some awesome content, including beautiful b-roll shot 2wks ago at desert point lombok. This video I will make in a couple of weeks and upload, not too many wipeouts but it'll be my best youtube video so far 👍

This spot is something to behold when it's on. I've spent hours watching footage of it, mostly from the cliffs directly in front and there's also an angle from what looks to be across the bay but I can't tell, I'm a Saffa. All this to say that I think this is the first drone footage I've seen of it and it's filmed by an NEXT LEVEL PILOT !!!! Thanks Brother.
