Im 54 years old and I grew up watching Bodyboarding Magazine to see all the great runners of the time and without a doubt to see the new maneuvers of the Master Mike Stewart, to go inspired to the beach to run. The truth is that continuing to watch him ride waves is still a blessing. I only wish good health and long life to this humble and inspiring man. Greetings from Puerto Rico...✌️🇵🇷🤙

His smoothness is so impressive. He uses the board and his body to "set a rail" like nobody else.

No one else can pick and hold a line like Mike. So clean and smooth. Dude navigated the naughty step at shippies like it was nothing. 😳

He rides the wave like a sea sea lion , he engages with the wave at zero point, giving positive friction and channeling its maximum force for propulsion , he becomes the wave, a master , conquering lion 😊🙏

I remember the hate he got and when they made a poster of the huge barrel he caught at pipeline and the poster said “It dint count if you dint stand up” always been a Mike Stewart fan. I still have the old Mach7-7 Mike Stewart bodyboard from years ago.

I'll never forget my 2nd time out at Pipe, first day waves were blown out and nobody in the water, Mike paddled up and started talking to me about how it's not that good. He thought I was a local since I was tan and half asian. Told him I thought it was fun, then he knew I wasn't a local and paddled away lol

I agree with Mike but Temega??? He's sloppy. He reminds me of Andre Botha. Mike's polished. Nothing ever looks forced.

I agree with mudman! Tamega is a living legend and his world championships 🏆 say it all. Six world titles doesn't spell, "sloppy" to me! Mike Stewart 👑 He has won the annual Banzai Pipeline event a record 11 times, from which 9 earned him the world title, and has been crowned the Pipeline Bodysurfing Classic champion a record 15 times MS might be the king but Tamega comes in 2nd.. Ben Severson won in 1986. Mike and Ben grew up in the North Shore of Oahu which gives them a *MASSIVE* advantage over the likes of Tamega I spent so much time bodyboarding growing up, if my dad had his backyard at pipeline, I'd too be a multiple world champion 🏆 title holder - without a shadow of a doubt! Everyone or anyone who heads to the middle of the Pacific Ocean 🌊 all they do is surf? I've seen Mike Stewart in the 80's and he's forcing moves in the title race.. these videos are on KZbin - dig for them, you'll find them, I've seen them and it's clearly evident he's forcing his moves, so what is it you were saying about..

@@Yahuah780 Yeah, in small California PSSAs he forced a few for those 600 dollar first place checks. When I think of the Pioneers of the sport I think of Mike, Ben, Lindholm, Sasaki, Haouli Reeves, and Pat Caldwell. I don't dislike Temega, I know he shreds, I just like other people's style better. You have a point, he did win 6 titles. The best videos I've seen this year is the kid at the Medge. I think it's Josh Garner. Temega reminds me of Botha. Balls of steel, will go on anything, just not polished like a Ryan Hardy, or Whiny.

@@Yahuah780 I grew up in Huntington Beach and I loved riding the Wedge. I'm still friends with Eric and Mike Huseman both were pro back in the late 80s early 90s. Eric beat Stewart for the best shot in Bodyboarding magazine readers poll. It was a giant el Rollo 10 foot elevator drop at 15 ft Wedge.

Born and raised on the big island, Hawaii and started in 1979 with a orange Aussie board.Didn’t even know the bodyboard was created a hour plus away from me and it’s pioneer! Late 80’s/early 90’s is We started to connect to surf when he’s home! GOAT!

I was 14/15 years old and in that time he was already in my age now (around 40). He was legend and veteran already in that time, when I was following him through the portuguese bodyboard magazine “Vert”. In fact, age is just a number and he’s the best example of that! Long live to the king of Pipeline!! Greetings from Portugal (Caparica)

I been body boarding for 27yrs and im 38 now, all science shit, meaning that i dont go to surf if it isn't with the original equipment by originals like yourself Mr Mike. My question is why is to difficult to find the viper icons i have always want, the yellow/bluefins. Can you help me? I want them fins cause back in the days yourself Mr Mike used to wear them😉 and the thing is that i have the money to buy them. Just hit me with a helpful link❤

Is it really that hotly debated? Feel like Mike being the GOAT is fairly uncontroversial. There are of course riders of subsequent generations that have surpassed Mike in technicality and strength... but I think everyone has to be seen from within the generational context they were in. And even despite being 60, he keeps up with the newer generation, especially in bigger surf, which is just a different level that is hard to imagine. I think the SGOAT (second greatest of all time) would be an interesting debate though...
@WeBodyboard_Official8 ай бұрын
You hit the nail on the head! However a lot would disagree, people have different definitions of the GOAT. Eg Hubby is consistently the greatest throughout his life, if you want to talk about diversity the Dubb or Sammy would be contenders. DK = Roach/Jack. Straight up OG = Tom, Ben ..
