This song changed my life in so many ways. I had just graduated college in central Florida and begun the life of my dreams of world travel. I set off for an innocent first world travels trip to key west. Only thing was, about ten people I invited, bailed out on me til last minute. I put the car in drive, put the cd in I had made the night before and this was one of the songs I had on repeat as I just unknowingly realized , this is how it’s going to be from now on. Having endless beautiful solo adventures across the globe. I’ve now been across Europe, the Caribbean, New Zealand, the South Pacific, and now live in Hawai’i with the endless horizon of adventure ahead. At the time I was fighting my way out of deep depression, and the upward progression of this song always felt to me a reflection of me fighting my way out of that depression. It’s been 11 years since then and just recently coming back to this song. Each time at the high of musical progression brings me to tears, as It quickly teleports me back to a hard time while recognizing how much I’ve accomplished and improved since then. As someone said below, the power of music is incredible and this song is truly up there on my list of impactful songs! 💙 Aloha and I wish everyone a beautiful life of their dreams! 💙

I don't want to be *that guy,* but I watched Joel's masterclass and he himself admitted that his music is repetitive and based on as few compositional ideas as as possible 😂 I think the people in this thread just need to accept that being repetitive isn't a bad thing if you know how to execute it well. In fact, it can enhance a piece of music in ways compositional hyper-complexity never could.

People talking shit like deadmau5 music has changed, etc. Well, artists can't create the same material all the time. That's career killer. Do you imagine him creating all same progressive house plucky music for over 9 years? No one does it, you have to shift, music industry and tendencies changes all the time.

Totally agree with you ! And he not changed as much

Crazy Shadow yeah but we talk about music not about video game, and IW is pretty much hated by the community.

I disagree. It's only career killer if you're uncreative. You run out of ideas so you start producing music that is very similar to old songs, but I doubt that cause Joel is a genius to me. If you always release in the same genre which you're good at and you are able to give every track a different vibe, that's how legends are born. Look at Pryda for example. If you move because of industry and people's music taste changes, you probably got more fans, money, fame etc. but for the price of music quality.

its rediculous to expect "doing the same shit again" from any artist. creativity is not static in its definition.

Someone asked me what song I would listen to if I only had 6 minutes left to live. I said this one. A 9 min song meaning, just like I'll probably do in life, I'll die with unfinished business. Guess I'll become a ghost. N stuff.

The first time I heard this song I was 15 years old, it was on my Sony Ericsson W200 .I liked it so much that I still hear it at the age of 30, it was a sound that marked my adolescence.

+MrTacticalinuit Producers use what's called FL Studio. It is a hard program to use for the first time, but once you get to know it it is actually very fun to use. I have it on my laptop and I am making lots of remixes and other original songs with it

not all producers use fl studio. For example, Joel actually uses Abelton :) In my opinion, fl studio is like a toy. Then there's other producers like Swedish house mafia, that use Logic Pro X. So, not every edm producer uses FL studio. But, the ones that do use it are Tiesto, Avicii, Martin Gariix, and etc. That's all I know for now, but yeah xD

There's NOTHING that u can do on ableton, logic, reaper etc. and u can't do on FL Studio so comparing FL to toy is a little bit misleading.

No he was using a double negative to state you can do anything on FL that you can do on other DAWS. FL and Ableton are both powerful DAW's with huge names behind them. FL is the only one who can keep up with the likes of Savant (that autistic guy who can make like 5 good sounding tracks in a day on a whim lol). Ableton does a couple things a little better, mostly automation and side chaining. Hardware linking probably easiest on Ableton. They both sound the same because DAW's don't change the output, that's up to other software (or old school hardware) and tuning from the Engineer. So it just depends on workflow in the end. Do you like to race your ideas to the computer and draw them fast to get going on FL or sit around constructing from ground up and build as you go on Ableton. Both workflows are acceptable can be done in either program but each DAW has their own style. Dadumau5 used to use FL aswell, probably made all his old progressive hits on it. "DeadMau5 (Joel Zimmerman): "It’s ease of use and fast results are what get the ideas down as fast as they come to my head, and that’s really important for me" Ableton is native to both PC & Mac, making it the industry standard, not really "more professional".
