Oh fun fact: While that painting by Goya is commonly referred to as "Saturn Devours His Son", that was given much later after the fact. It's one of the 14 so-called "Black Paintings" that he made towards the end of his life, painting them directly onto the walls of his home. He never intended them to be publicly displayed, and never gave them names. Meaning it wasn't meant as a depiction of Saturn, just a bizarre horrific mural he made that some historian decided to reference Roman mythology with, which makes it even more disturbing in my eyes.

MASSIVE respect for Susan Lanier. I've heard that SA scenes are incredibly difficult to film, psychologically. Respect and boundaries are paramount in those moments. The way she managed to take charge, build chemistry, and break the tension by suggesting to Michael Berryman that they should actually make out is such a power move.

You have to drive through there to go to Las Vegas(which I just did yesterday lol) but it doesn’t look like the movie since so much has happened since 77’ but don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty of places on that drive looking off the freeway that make me wonder where they film this movie. It’s still very much desert out there.

Turns out in this movie, they do a similar thing with Jaws. Raimi interpreted this as saying "Jaws is pop horror, this is real horror" and since he had done that in The Evil Dead, that's how their creative rivalry started. Even in Scream, the teens pick Halloween over The Evil Dead. The "Work shed"'s Freddy Krueger glove did return in the first episode of Ash vs Evil Dead, but Craven passed away later that year. They honored him with a more complete version of this movie's poster outside a theater in a Season 2 episode.
