I met Robert Englund in 2016, about 4 months after the passing of my best friend. I started crying as soon as I saw him, “nightmare on elm street,” was me and my best friends favorite. I told Mr. Englund about my best friend, he then said, “Sarah lives here now. When you want to see her close your eyes and dream of her,” as he placed his finger on my temple. I will Never forget that moment. I will always be a fan of him. I met him at the “walker stalker convention,” in Nashville Tn.

My favorite Nightmare movie. I liked the idea of characters realizing that Freddy isn't the only one with powers in the dream world. Of course Freddy has all the most overpowered abilities but giving his victims the ability to fight back a little bit makes things more interesting
@Amanda-kd1zr Жыл бұрын
I agree. I know James thinks (or maybe thought and doesn't think so anymore) it doesn't track with the lore of the original but I don't think dream powers are too outlandish. They're pretty cool and are merely introducing a new element to the lore. Plus, it gives us something different than pulling him into the real world. It doesn't contradict anything like the second movie does and it doesn't get too weird and nonsensical like Alice getting her friends' personality traits and Kristen's dream power...or the whole Freddy injecting souls into Alice's baby thing. Dream Warriors gave it a cool extra fantasy element.

I think about that a lot. Who discovered them? Did they have visible wounds from where Freddy killed them? I've always been curious how that was handled.
@peterdanior45383 жыл бұрын
@@TjMetalHead94 most likely the other doctor or Lawerence Fishburn found them. I doubt they had physical injuries as Freddy didn’t cut them up, & an autopsy probably would have shown Tara dying from an overdose of an unknown substance.
@TjMetalHead943 жыл бұрын
@@peterdanior4538 The continuity of wounds in the real world from Freddy has always been inconsistent. In NOES1 we can clearly see Freddys claws slice up Tina in the real world. Freddy used his Glove to kill Will and Nancy so I'm sure wounds would've appeared.
@peterdanior45383 жыл бұрын
@@TjMetalHead94 I think when Freddy slashes someone, the cuts do appear IRL, like with Tina or Mark from FvJ. However when Kincaid is killed in Part 4, it looks more like he has a heart attack as a wound doesn't appear in his gut where he was stabbed.
@TjMetalHead943 жыл бұрын
@@peterdanior4538 Exactly! Knowing the chaos behind these movies i understand why the continuity is terrible though. But now I realize that Freddy probably can control how the wounds appear irl. Its part of his genius of making the living victims look insane to their parents.

Okay I just gotta say that I'm really impressed and pleased about how James treats sensitive topics in the films he covers, even if the film itself is terrible about it. It's wonderful to watch, and makes seeing shitty representation/presentation a lot easier to deal with

Film debut of Patricia Arquette. This is the first movie in which the main antagonist is called by the name "Freddy" Krueger. In the first two films, he is called "Fred" Krueger. Once after a tiring day on set, Robert Englund fell asleep in his dressing room still in full Freddy make-up. When he awoke and looked in the mirror he got a terrible scare. Winona Ryder auditioned for the role of Kristen. But director Chuck Russell felt that Ryder was too young for the role. Ryder would later become engaged to Johnny Depp who starred in the first film of the series Originally, Taryn's character's head was to explode after being injected with Freddy's syringes, but it looked too fake. Director Chuck Russell stated in a interview that the mirror sequence was very difficult to do. He stated that it was before CGI, so that they "had to get really inventive". They were literally manipulating Mylar in front of the camera to get the shot done. In the original script, one of the Warriors dreams up a giant Transformers-style robot to fight Freddy. The sequence even made it into the storyboards stage, but budgetary constraints made filming it impossible. The only film out of the first six to not begin with a nightmare scene.

This film is a masterpiece! It has characters we care about. The actors are good and the pacing of the film is perfect. Nancy's character is well developed and we care about her. I loved the characters getting super powers and how the film builds up to the climax. Nancy's death is the saddest in horror film history.
