The fact that the owner was inconsolable and had to be held back on set and was crying afterwards makes it even worse. I feel like they should have had Palmer in more of the film. Not only because it is so random and obvious when she comes in at the end, that she is the killer, but because Betsy Palmer is my favorite part of this movie. More of her would have been awesome. Plus a ''who done it'' feel to the movie would have obviously worked if you had her through out the movie. Try to surprise the audience, she works at the camp, shes a friendly older lady, throw in some misdirection. She is recognized in the film, so just make her blend in, the killer hiding in plain sight. Then at the end BAAAM oh my god, the older lady did it!! I wasn't expecting her at all. Instead we get her coming in at the end, and anyone whos anyone would be like >.> She is obviously the killer.

When I was 9 years old in 1980, I managed to get a horror magazine (Fangoria, maybe?) about "Friday the 13th," since I was too young to see the movie. It seemed like some sinister, dark forbidden film that I couldn't wait to eventually see. Fast-forward to 2019, I re-watched it on a streaming service one night, and I was stunned at how slow and laborious some scenes were. Thank you for this "recount" of this franchise - I enjoy your first videos on it, but the recount version is MUCH more informative. Thanks to everyone behind Dead Meat!

What they did to that snake was criminal. It belonged to someone else, that person loved the snake AND they could have very very easily either used a fake snake for the kill scene (they can do that expertly with human gore so why not the snake?) or not had that scene at all. It was needless and horrible and makes me very glad there are laws against that kind of thing now. It makes me think of another animal that was actually killed, but unfortunately I don't remember what movie, I only watched James's kill count of it and he pointed it out, but anyway I remember the animal was an Ox.
@Donika6913 жыл бұрын
@@thenexus8384 It'd still be bad considering how easily they could have done that scene without killing any snake. Why needlessly kill anything? As someone who has spent a lot of time studying snakes, it pains me to think people could get more evil to them than rattlesnake roundups. (Rattlesnake roundups are where they gather a bunch of rattlesnakes and compete to kill the most snakes. in some US states they're often hunted and shot dead during their hibernation) The fact that they killed a domesticated snake makes it far worse as even at the time snakes were an impossibly easy thing to fake and easier to randomly find wild. Killing it on camera is an insult to me personally, especially considering the alternatives; more so if you account for the previously mentioned things people do to snakes and rattlesnakes especially. That specific snake has one of the lower kill counts yearly (domesticated) of any domestic species, almost adding salt to the wound. No clue who the owner is, but I do hope he get's/got the last laugh. (Personally, I'd go pretty far to get revenge for something like this). Not going to lie, I very rarely cry, but that almost had me in tears. To end this little rant, I'd like to say that humans have treated snakes unfairly since gaining intelligence (look at history/mythology regarding them; especially the Bible) and I think we would do well to realise what we've done over the centuries and are still doing today. I thank all who've read this and would appreciate others trying to wash off the evil stereotype for snakes our ancestors have painted in our minds.

I love how you can tell in his voice and the way he puts the film forward that he actually genuinely still cares about it. That level of love is something I can only hope to achieve for anything

I remembered having a friend who knew about you and your channel he's a fan. I'm sure he is happy to see your channel continue growing.

Imagine being a channel that was created for the sole purpose of counting kills for horror movies and then becoming the be-all-to-end-all channel of that very subject. James, you are legendary in my book.

I feel so happy to have been part of the journey for the past years. Few creators are so passionate about their channel that they'd remake their first videos to give them five star treatment. We love you, James, Chelsea, Zoren and everyone involved in making this beautiful channel as fun as it is!

“There are some unclear details about the handler's involvement, but by many accounts, he was incredibly upset by the snake's death, had to be held back by crew members after it happened, and some even say he can be heard crying off-camera following the snake's death, as he was inconsolable.”

I hope they pay for damages, and got into some severe legal trouble for that! even that wouldn't be enough punishment for killing an innocent animal, and causing the handler so much grief and heart ache!

@@mycomnithegreat434 Nothing happened to them The animal cruelty laws for movies didn't exist yet then. During the same year, the western "Heaven's Gate" gutted cows and bled out other livestock so they could use their blood and guts for effects. They also slit the throats of 4 horses and even blew up a horse with explosives.

One of the props people said “oh The killing of the snake was real. I don’t have knowledge how it all came about, but the handler that brought it said it was a sick snake and would have been killed anyway. After the shoot, I had to pack up the remains and keep it cold until the next day in case the scene needed to be reshot. Thankfully, it wasn’t necessary”. I hate animal cruelty but I hope that at least this is the truth cause that other story is even worse

Unfortunately that isn't what happened. They had the guy on set and watching as they chopped his pet up. A domesticated, fangless snake that was trained to be an animal actor and they cut it into pieces in front of it's owner.

So glad to hear more behind the scenes info on this movie, especially the information about the poor pet snake that was murdered. I hope people become more aware of that because of your dedication to spreading the truth on things like this.

I love that there’s technically 12 “Friday the 13th” movies cause I feel like that puts pressure on anyone wanting to make a 13th movie cause if you’re gonna make The 13th Friday The 13th, it better be good lol

I am so glad to finally see someone reflect my thoughts of Pamela as a villain and the story. I think Pamela is a great character, but can't hold a film on her own. Her story works best as a backstory for Jason.
